@gfine2000 It's probably a mostly white chapter. The rest of the sorority as a whole definitely has diversity, but you can't put in the token black just to make a point.
By far I'm not accusing anyone of discrimination. I was just wondering why there aren't any women of color in any of the videos. I know someone of color who is part of this sorority and they love being a part of such a great organization and sisterhood. Again, when they shot these videos why haven't they ever included women of color? If the person who shot the videos were really considerate of their sisters of color, they would not have forgotten that one important detail of inclusiveness.
My question to Al Chi is, how do you think women of color who would like to join this organization feel if they didn't see someone of their race included in any of the videos? and what about those women of color who are currently part of Alpha Chi, what do you think they feel or are thinking when the see all these videos that exclude women of color? Please, be cognizant, be considerate and be fairly inclusive to those women of color you call your sisters. Thank you.
@gfine2000 Ummm... I'm half black, and I joined Alpha Chi Omega. I also have black girls in my sorority and I love them to death. I love all my sisters. We don't discriminate. Don't worry, we love everybody :}
Incidentally, this particular video mentions many honorable things such as, sincerity, joy, peace, appreciation and love while ironically and severely lacking the diversity this organization says it has. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Alpha Chi is a racist organization I just believe that they didn't take the time to consider their sisters of color to be part of the video. Maybe this particular chapter that created the video doesn't have women of color but I do wonder...
@gfine2000 Who gives a shit if there are people of color in a damn video or not? You'll fit in fine, obviously. This isn't the 1960s. Stop taking this race shit so seriously.
@Hellscope1 You've just answered your own question! Apparently you don't give a shit and most likely are racist because of it. No said anything about the sixties but you and I nevermind what I deem serious or not. Would you like me to tell you what to take seriously or not? You choose what you consider to be serious or not don't you? Your response to my comment shows you're taking it very serious yourself and by using profanity only shows your lack of intelligence in the matter.
I understand your prospective on this issue but it still gives way to wondering if this particular sorority has members of color and never invited them or including them in the making of this video. The question still remains, does this particular chapter have women of color and if they do, why weren't they invited to be part of this video or why were they excluded? I don't know if it were intentional not to include them or exclude them but where are they (women of color)?
I already know that Condoleeza is a alumni that's old news and while I understand your passion for your sorority, don't let it blind you with hatred because you may say things that you don't mean or understand. I am a supporter of Alpha Chi. There's alot you don't know about me. There's no need to be so angry. I was just perplexed not to see any women of color in "any" of the Alpha Chi's videos. If you put enough of one race in a room, you will find a racist amoung them, guaranteed. Peace.
I never said Alpha Chi wasn't a good organization, on the contrary it's a fine sorority I just noticed on all the videos I saw there were no black woman anywhere and with racism still prevelant in our society, it saddened me because I know that there are black women who are part of Alpha Chi. Please don't misunderstand what I'm conveying here. Again, Alpha Chi is a "fine" organization and I support you guys but why aren't any women of color in any of your videos? Can you answer that?
@gfine2000 I know this has all probably been long past in your thoughts, but I have some insight into why most social sororities are predominately white. One, there are greek organizations for the African Americans so they tend to join there. Greek life is huge on tradition for both PHC and NPHC. My chapter (zeta eta) may only have 3 minorities out of 85, but the fact is most who rush aren't white. You can't give a bid to someone who doesn't rush.
Notice that you're stating, "maybe" this or "maybe" that, but you have no proof as to what you're saying is valid or true and maybe I don't either. I'd rather be wrong in thinking that Alpha Chi is a racist sorority. No need to be defensive. I believe this Sorority is a fine one but let's be real, racism still exist amongst the human race whether it be a sorority or any other organization. How can a person be nice but racist? that's impossible!
@gfine2000 I will be defensive on this one considering I am a member of Alpha Chi and we are not a racist organization. When we talk about truth and validity you should really start with yourself. You commented that there were not black women portrayed in this video although you have no clue whether or not they had any black women to begin with. Condoleeza Rice is an alum of Alpha Chi and a very prominent alum at that. Instead of concerning yourself with race why don't you actually look into wha
@gfine2000 t amazing things Alpha Chi does for their communities. Last year my chapter raised close to $20,000 in three days that was all donated to a local women's shelter for victims of domestic violence.
They forgot one line: "To not show our black or members of color in our sorority." Where are the black girls or women that are part of this sorority? Are they ashamed to show them in all their pictures and videos. I know someone who is a member of this sorority and she's black, so I know they have black members. It's sad how racism still permeates our culture and society. :(
@gfine2000 this is from ONE school. its a recruitment video for ONE school... don't know how you know which school this one is from but maybe this chapter doesn't have any black members which could be for various reasons. you really should really slow your roll on this one.
