ok this shit does not work on all wiis. if you have the NTSC Black wii. its a no go. followed your instruction to a T. also flip the switches to the correct region. im basically out $35. im probably gonna trade my friend for his white wii +$25.

I have the DriveKey modchip which worked great at first, but now whenever I play burned games, I get disc drive errors after playing for 5 to 10 minutes. Does anyone have any suggestions?

@mctnoyes Ya never know, It might not actually be your chip! your drive may be faulty or a busted lazor (unlikely since the disk initially reads) don't forget to use good quality disks when you burn games, bad quality ones can actually damage your lazor. I suggest Verbatim brand disks. Make sure after getting your wii modded, never update it

I have a drivekey installed, i have homebrew installed. i play all my games from my external usb drve. i have ver 4.2 on my wii. i bought COD BO but when i put it in the wii it will not play b/c is says my system needs to update. i don't want to brick it b/c my 7 yr old sone will have a fit LOL. any suggestions?

@illmazing Get a program called Gecko os, run that through homebrew (via sd card usually) and insert game. Gecko os bypasses the update and alot of region bullshit, just load that to play all your games that contain updates or are otherwise unplayable

@sonypsp05...so hey...i have a japanese wii from 06' that runs on 4.3 firmware..obviously i don't have one of these newer dvds installed in my wii seeing how old it is...so if i get a mod chip will I be able to atleast play japanese backups, eventhough I have the 4.3 firmware installed...?

@allenholdiman yeah, but with a modchip you don't have to worry about updating your wii, you can update it all you want to and not have to waste time getting other stuff you want without updating since it is a hardware hack and not a software hack there is not much they can do about it. Plus there's a greater chance of bricking your wii with the software mod. And you don't have to keep updating a modchip, on the softmod you have to constantly update cIOS ect....

People don't do this useless carp, just soft-mod ur Wii. By doing so u will save money since its free, you will save ur wii's warranty since u didnt open it. And u can do same things what this guy does with a soft-modded wii. (u can play backed up wii copied games on a DVD disc or on a USB Hard drive.) Go to google and look for wiibrew and click on the first results on google, from there LEARN HOW TO SOFTMOD UR Wii !!!!

If you keep up with homebrew updates nintendo updates won't affect you and the best part is, if your wii breaks you can remove the sd card and nintendo will never know you were hacking.

You dont need a modchip.

All you do is put this SD card in your wii and with the step by step guide that is provided your wii will get chipped and can play any downloaded torrents game.

Its soft modding and is much safer and has less risks to it.

I done it to my own wii and its perfect.

It really depends on you. If you load it onto a SD card, you'd have to change the game with a computer every time you want to play a different game (Unless you have a big SD Card). As for Mod Chipping, you'd have to burn the games onto DVD. I'd probably find that burning it is more convenient as I wouldn't have to go back on the computer everytime I want to play a different game.

hi thanks for that but last night the wii broke when switching the wii when checking the chip was connected, it happened when i was pressing the on button with a small screw driver there was a burning smell and the fuse in the plug had to be replaced the wii driver lights up and makes a sound like its reading the disc but there no connection to the tv screen, have you any idea if it can be fixed. thanks onces again
