The 505 has pcm sounds only while the EMX is analog modeling synth parts + pcm rhythm parts. EMX has also valve at the output. For those reasons the 505 could sound not so warm and powerful as the EMX. The 505 also has few bugs like crashing when pushing too fast the transport buttons or buttons that with time are going down, like my kick C note or some mute buttons. I also consider the rhythm part not loud as the synth parts, and some of the master fx come with an unwanted delay.
The sequencer of the 505 is much more complex, but close to realtime manipulation like the EMX one. Conclusively, I should say that there are good features on both grooveboxes. EMX will be very suitable now for its sound and simplicity, but if you are looking for some oldschool midi-like sound, then go for the 505. Consider that the 505 has something like 505 editable patches!
the sequencer quite solid, the shortest time value you can get down to if your wanting intricate patterns or whatever, if your using the stepmode function as opposed to real time playing is a 24th of 1 beat. In other word if you divide 1 beat by 24 then you will have the shortest time value. Hope you understand and this help's.

How do you use the keyboard trigger function for USER patterns?
cumulo99 2 years ago
i dont...i'm actually playing the beat
kippers45 2 years ago
You put the machine in RPS mode and save user pattern parts to an RPS file.
I forget the exact fucking explanation but it's not too tough, you'll figure it out if you dick around long enough.

the DNB kit is good, but i wouldnt really use the mc505 for proper dnb tracks, your better to use a software packages such as cubase
