I bought a Dell 6 months ago. One day poof NO CD/DVD. I tried to get to factory settings POOF I cannot! Call Dell and after 2 hour ryn around I ended up where I started. Now POOF windows is disapearing. Call Dell... KACHING (that your credite card being sucked dry). Took it appart WOW All parts from China, Milisa, Japan, Phillophines. Nothing Americian except the overinflated price. PS THOUSANDS of internet guys have the same problem. Told my clients to advertise on youtube it's FREE. LOOK!
2:16 not using Ubuntu Linux there. OK I can understand using Windows on some desktops but come on using Windows to type a document. Dell is NOT serious about Linux. They release this useless propaganda. Dell are not not serious about. Also if you want a REAL OS try something called Mac OS X. Really I like Ubuntu but really how do you plan to say you like Linux if you don't take it seriously like Google. I don't care if your staff hate it tell them to learn there own hardware.
sure u can try mac os x, if you're a communist.yes, try mac os x, if you're stupid. of course, use mac os x, if you know nothing about computers. Use mac os x, if u want to use a computer that uses u.
If there is but one lie in this video (and trust me, there are multiple), its that technical support people DO NOT USE LINUX.
Tech support people don't want to come home and spend that much time making sure their operating system works. Thats what they do all day for retarded people.
Tech support people either use Windows... or actually more often MacOS.
Spend eight hours a day fixing stupid peoples computers. Would you want to come home and do the same for yourself?
AGREED I do Tech Support and I am a Junior Systems Admin, I talk to and help people with issues, and most issues is because of their Button pushing abilities and their OS which is WINDOWS, BUT windows will never ever go away it has too big of a client base with the businesses. When i get home im realy happy to see that my linux box is still up and running, no viri, and no crashes, and HMMM i can still do everything that windows can do
I'm not part of Dell, but I do tech support, and I use Linux on all my machines.
Linux is hard to fix if you're new to it and know Windows, but if you're experienced with both Windows and Linux, as I am, trust me - Linux presents FAR fewer problems, and is FAR easier to fix. Linux is actually logical, unlike Winblows or Mac.
The Dell-Linux thing was just an advertisement marketing operation to me. Buying a Dell laptop with linux you dont get advantages in price, and you need to buy old hardware. You're not truly free to choose the os, e.g. in new machines. Dell is just like the others.
Dell puts inferior hardware on the computers they supply with linux (because linux can do more with less really) but It's kinda a ploy for dell to get rid of old hardware.
And in either case, you really shouldn't get dell. You should just become informed and build your own pc. It's 10x better and 10x cheaper than anything you'll get from dell.
"Sometimes I do feel like I am living two lives. I come into work, and develop for that other operating system. But then I get home, and I play with my Linux." ROFL!
Brilliant marketing scam. Package Linux on desktop computers so overzealous noobs can buy them and think they're "leet", then screw them with the technical support =P
Please accept our apologies for the delay, irish80122. If we don't make the revised date please click 'unresolved issues' on the front of our website. BTW, there's no pretense about Dell being from Texas. Our corporate offices are in Round Rock and we have manufacturing facilities in Austin. In addition to Texas and Malaysia, we also manufacture in Nashville, Tenn., Winston-Salem, N.C., Ireland, Brasil and China. We're also building new sites in India and Poland.
Round Rock, TX huh? Too bad my Dell laptop's shipping date has been delayed, due in part to it being built in Malaysia. Perhaps we should see how Dell is doing out there. Sorry, I am not usually so cynical, but I am just disappointed that you build in Malaysia and yet pretend to still be from Texas.
Apologies for the delay, irish80122. If you have any diffculties please click 'unresolved issues' on our website. BTW, no pretense about Dell being from Texas. I think this is a joke.
Debian have you encountered any KERNEL's (Linux is a Kernel) of knowledge.
I'm a bit unsure, does she say "Thanks Gnome"? if so, GNOME is a popular window manager, used not only by Linux systems.
And, as Amebixfan said, Debian Gnusome (Debian, popular Linux distro, GNU (GNU is Not Unix) has to do with open source).
Many OpenSources of knowledge.
So it is a joke, right?
