My heart sings along with it just as if I was in Paris back in the 19040's sitting at a small table in a cafe... Ah,what a spell the french language has on me. J'adore le francias!
@autochat Hi and thanks for noticing the spelling error which I have now corrected. Spelling errors can easily happen look at your spelling of ignorance, these things happen. I try to double check my emails anymore before I hit that send button. I always appreciate these things being brought to my attention. I can't believe this went this long without being noticed.
This just reminds me of Grace Jones version of the song, which I so love, I have this on 78 too, if I could find it.. lol. A very sweet song from a more innocent time! Beautiful!
I always think of this song as so French and I hev some of Edith's songs on LP so lovely. Having been to the French Pryannes and crossed the way the escaping British Airman did to Spain in the war has relevance for me
The "Little Sparrow". She had an affair for a time with an American boxer and had a somewhat rough and tumble love life. Her voice brought a lot of warmth to both sides of the 2nd world war just like Vera Lynn's voice did. This is a later recording but if you listen to her first recordings of this piece you can truly hear that little jewel of spirit she had reaching up to the ellusive realms of love and romance that exist up above the mundane world of mankind. She was a indeed a rare jewel.
J'adore cette chanson! Je souhaite que je pourrais chanter comme Edith Piaf. Je t'aime à Paris
