  • This was a perfect song to conclude house season 5. It is bitter sweet. Bitter in the fact that house had lost control of his mind and went to the psychiatric hospital, and sweet in it playing during Cameron and chases wedding. Great song.

  • This was a perfect song to conc

  • Jagger/Richards score with a lonely ballad for the ages-thumbs up if you agree.

    Nix

  • In 1966 I was 16 and believe me, it was the greatest time to be a teen, especially in New York City. There was always something going on.

  • <3 really love it

  • Thumbs up if you'r here cos of House M.D.

  • Mick jagger was not even the original singer, notice no videos now of the originals, it was some one else thats why I like the song, lol. true! The guitarist? have to look it up!

  • @tlfk60 This was Mick Jagger's song. He wrote it for his then girlfriend to sing it though. Marianne Faithfull.

  • This song always reminds me of my father, who I never really go to know, I think these words were exactly what he would have said to us if he could. Its very sad, but very beautiful. Life is cruel when people are taken from you too young.

  • This is the phoniest song ever. Mick Jagger is cutthroat. He ain't a crying poet.

  • @FavreianVengeance

    chill your sack brah.

  • i wish i could go back!!

  • House MD. brought me here. =D

A beautiful song for a Beautiful season finale.

  • To Libstergirl74, God, it was really cool!!!! So much going on.

  • 16 Leute können kein Englisch

  • @19Dfuck

Dunno why you tube in germany won't let you view MF's version, but seeing as the stones wrote the song then their version can hardly be classed as sh!t.

  • แด่วันเด็ก 2555

  • this song is the shit dont get me wrong, but why the fuck does youtube refuse to let us watch Marianne F's version of this song in Germany!!!??? fuck this music rights shit is bullshit!!!

  • House.

  • MUSIC DIED ON DECEMBER 31, 1989...

  • @MMacabruSS more like March 29th, 2007.

    Google it people, you'll understand.

  • @MMacabruSS why?

  • This song brings back so many great times!

  • I was is a group (garage band) back in the late 60's. This song was one of our best covers. We loved it and so did the audience wherever we played

  • this song never fails to give me goosebumps... extraordinary!

  • I did grow up in the early 60s in England aged 17 and full of childhood innocence. This song so appealed to me while I was a freshman at Newcastle University. England was throbbing with the sounds of the Stones, Beatles, and literally hundreds of groups which played in pubs and dance halls all over England. I was just at the start of the long journey through life's experiences, ending up in beautiful sunny CA. But these songs instantly take me back to simpler times. Thanks for the post.

  • God, i wish i was a 16 year old girl in the 70's instead. The music had such quality and it was real. There are some good bands now, but they are hard to find

  • @Remindercat I wish you and libstergirl could have been there too. There's been nothing like it since!!!

  • @Remindercat This is the 60's. 1963 to be exact.

  • @Remindercat music is still around

  • @Remindercat Same as I.

  • i completely love this voice..and song...!!!!!!!ποοοοοοο.......πορωση

  • ahh my cover should do

  • CUANDO ESCUCHO ESTA CANCIÓN NO PUEDO EVITAR LLORAR PENSANDO COSAS TRISTES Y ALEGRES TODO AL MISMO TIEMPO!

  • As beautiful a song as it was nearly 50 years ago.

  • music got raped in the butt by rap and pop unfortunately :(

  • when i was very young, this song was in my dream i was underwater and i loved this girl and some guy stole her from me. it broke my heart,I do miss her. i do not know how i heard this song. I do love that girl. Lots of girls broke my heart. its ok i still love them. Listen you better find Jesus He will never leave YOU. That is all i need to say for now.

  • Some of us never change. Paul still sucks and when John died so did the beatles! Stones are still the best!

  • @menencho5718 Paul sucks? He is the most successful songwriter in the history of music! And by the way his solo career was more successful as it was from John!

  • I have liked the Rolling Stones for many years but just recently heard this song for the first time. I really like it!!

  • <3

  • -3

  • fffffffffffff

  • I love this song so much I wish I grew up in the 60's or 70's!

  • @Libstergirl74 I dont lol, all the shit that happened

  • @Libstergirl74 I grew up in the 70's , and just like you i wish i grew up the 60's ,i really resent the fact that i missed that whole decade , i dont know about you but it makes me mad when i think about it. because i wanted to be there and i wasent - i missed it!

  • @Libstergirl74 i wish i grew up in the 60's i meant to say , ,but i think you knew that.

  • @Libstergirl74 Music has no age. Love it and hold your feeling at any times equally what your age is saying.

  • @Libstergirl74 no u wouldnt....if so u would be old like me :p...¸¸.¤°´¯`°{° Ouzotime is anytime °}°´¯`°¤.¸¸...

  • @Libstergirl74 I always laugh at those statements. You would be almost elder now! So enjoy the music in the 2012...

  • wonderful...it is the evening of the day....thanks God we have rolling stones in our world to teach us how to sing the greatest lullaby to our sons and daughters...

  • I miss 20 years ago

  • seems like only yesterday that this ep was in the music shops

  • I have this LP from my mother. I keep it like a diamond.

  • It was written by Jagger-Richards and their manager but it was first recorded by Marianne Faithfull (1964). Stones recorded the song a year later in 1965. So this is not the original version.

  • When I listen to this songs it reminds me of In My Life by the Beatles. Both beautiful songs...

  • My favorite song by my favorite group...........thanks..........rock on Stones

  • I know people don't want to hear it but this song went really well with that one season finale of House. A beautiful song for such a beautiful show.

  • i like The Rolling Stones, but i think this is ripping of "Yesterday" by The Beatles

  • @eddiemurphyfan100 THIS WAS WRITTEN BEFORE YESTERDAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @eddiemurphyfan100 i'm a huuuge beatles fan but i actually prefer this to yesterday, it's such a beautiful song!

  • @eddiemurphyfan100 This song and Yesterday are nothing alike...

  • @xXMangoesXx um....yup: they are!! They both have lovely, gentle, memorable lyrics which actually mean something deeper than the average song. They both use real instruments and lots of them, instead of synthesizers and purely electric sounds. They are both wonderful works of art, well composed and extremely well performed by solidly professional groups. They are both melancholy yet lovely songs about love lost.... the similarities are overwhelming!! Both rock BigTime :-).

  • great tune i was weened on this thanx for sharing cheers

  • I Sit And Watch As Tears Go BY! Great Song Great Lyrics! Greatest Rock&Roll Band Of Alltime!

  • This is really good we sing this at the school

  • hearing no sound at all...

  • @dizzyloo Somethings wrong on your end. The rest of us are hearing sound....

  • make's me cry :(

  • i just heard on the radio this morning! Such a beautiful thing!

  • This song rings true for me sometimes.

  • absolute classic

  • "It is the evening of the day, I sit and watch the children play;

Doing things I used to do they think is new..."

The RS wrote about the divide between the 'young generation' and the old folks, and about their own longing to be children again. Ironically, they were the 'old folks' in this song.

I think of this when I read posts by people that think everything they do is something that no one had done or thought of before.

But the bottom line is: Everything old is new again.

    This

  • @karmadhyana I really appreciate the "Everything old is new." I always remind myself that "Everything new is old," but for some reason have never considered that reversal. It's kind of blowing my mind right now. Thanks for the wisdom.

  • One of my favorite albums ~ The Stones still

with their original line up ~ Great stuff

  • Classic Stones ballad that has stood the test of time. One of a kind.

  • The first and best version. Written for Marianne Faithful - but she sounds quivery and chilly on her original single. I like this so much better, because it's presented with the simplicity of a children's song, with no overstatement.

  • Otimo para um sabado sem bebidas e so felicidade.

  • ppl care too much about a dislike button. thus i clicked it just to piss off others

  • hey, dont u hate these fcks who come on song just to press unlike button!? ITS A BEAUTIFUL SONG! i remember listening to this with one girl who did msuicide in the end...we still love you, inge! it taskes more than death to kill a man!!!

  • Nice song~Beatles are ok but i love all music~glad i can choose any thing i like<3

  • is it me or his he singing slightly off tune?

  • Always like this version with the violins. very touching song.

  • Finally, we have the Stones. Fewer covers and, in my opinion, better songs. Stones haven't put out number one after number one albums for no good reason. Glitter Twins, great song writing.

  • Nice song! :)

  • THE QUESTION OF THE DAY..HOW DO I KILL THE TEARS FOR THE LOVE OF MY LIFE,KITTY???????IM SO LOST WITHOUT HER, ITS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR AND STILL NO WHERE GETTING OVER HER..HOW CAN ONE NIGHT DO THAT TO A PERSON????BUT SHE DID..I'D GIVE ANYTHING FOR HER FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE AND WOULD DIE TO MAKE HER MINE..GOOD LUCK SWEETIE..I LOVE U AND THE TEARS WILL NEVER STOP POURING DOWN MY FACE, WITH U IN MY CONSCIENCE..ILL NEVER GET OVER U KITTY..X0..thanx for changing my life....

  • @rexrockandroll I seriously hope you're trolling. If you're not, its a fucking cat. A God damned mindless creature. Your cat wasn't special, it was one of thousands and was probably a cunt just like most other cats are.

  • Comment removed

  • @depolarized I'm more special than her fucking cat.

  • @JaysGOP special needs yeah

  • @JaysGOP I am more concerned that the guy doesn't know where the caps lock key is on his keyboard.

  • What happened to great music like this?

  • @Goodspittin It's still out there, you just have to look for it.

  • Aguante FLEMA =D

  • <3

  • Our culture is immitation. Immitate the owl. Live by night and shelter.

  • I wish he would have tuned his B strings.

  • <3

  • it makes me cry・・・

  • Remember the glimmer twins!

  • La plus jolie et émouvante chason des Stones !

  • There's nothing wrong with discovering great music via TV shows, the people employed to find the tunes for big shows get paid for good reason. Other great tracks from House - "I Still Care For You - Ray LaMontagne", "Daniel Lanois - Fire " & "Zero 7 - In The Waiting Line" to name just 3. I love it when a great show turns me on to a great track I might have missed otherwise. =)

  • Beautiful Song!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Unforgettable

  • Rest well Kathryn.

  • the top 2 comments on a stones song are about a fucking TV show that the song once played over... what the fuck is wrong with you people?

  • @Benelech I kinda get your point. But I must say, most people just don't listen to this kinda awesome music anymore. And if tv shows like House M.D. help them to see the beauty of this song... then well. It's better than nothing, right?

p.s. I do love House... sorry.

  • @TheOnlyMrsDepp Good point. Don't get me wrong, House is a great show, but The Stones are much better.

  • @Benelech Yes, of course... but kinda insane to compare a tv show to a song, or band, don't you think? I mean: apples and oranges, right?

    I love House m.d...

    I love the Rolling Stones...

The two just don't have anything to do whith eachother.

  • @Benelech You should be happy there are TV shows which introduce today's generation to the good old music instead of today's crap that is flooding the radio stations and clubs...

    I know I am...

  • @Benelech The first time I ever heard the song was on that show, and I'm glad it brought me here. Though I see where you're coming from.

  • @Benelech seriously man wtf is wrong with this stupid generation coming up man every fucking video some tool has to say that

  • Still looking for the original version, so much better!

  • STONES FOREVER...AS TEARS GO BY....

  • both songs are great but rolling stones version is better is more peaceful

  • one of mick's best songs :)

  • @rockingthe60s marrianne faithful wrote it, why "mick"? you know him?

  • @lonewackywahler mick jagger wrote the song in 1965,he gave it to his girlfriend to sing which at the time was marrianne faithful,go look it up then get back to me

  • @rockingthe60s i looked it up. it said jagger later admitted that he was a huge jerk for not originally giving her credit. he then gave her half credit. its public info. but hey, im just in a bad mood. i dont really even care about the rolling stones and i only like marrianne faithful of old. goodnite.

  • @lonewackywahler what website did you get that information from? mick wrote the song marrianne faithful just did a cover of it

  • um, ok, that is fine...like i said, i dont care. i dont remember where. im going thru my history and when i find it ill send it to you, since you actually care..
