This is still much better than the terrible dub. The accents they gave some characters, for instance, is just ridiculous!

Golion is good and it is the original. But i still say the altered version...Voltron is much.better So they cut scenes out, big deal. I mean, like in episode 1 for an example. you don't need to actually see the slaves getting whipped by Yurak's (Sadak in GoLion) forces or killed by the robeast (Deathblack Beastman in GoLion) to realize and know that it's happening. Besides i don't need subtitles when i watch voltron, Sorry, NO OFFENSE INTENDED but i don't read or speak Japanese.

In my opinion, the reason this scene was cut from the English version was not because of violence; it was because World Events Productions hoped the series would get picked up for a second season (which it did), so killing off the main villain wasn't an option. Minor villains (like Yurak) could be killed off, but not Zarkon. Incidentally, Lotor dies in episode 72, although his death is offscreen.

The death scene of Zarkon wasnt that brutal, they should'nt cut it from the story.

Byt the way Haga(Honerva) is the Mother of Zarkon(Daibazaal) and Lotor's(Syncline) mother is from Arus(Altea)

While I admit that this is indeed a fitting end for Zarkon, I think that in this case World Events had a different motivation for cutting it than censorship. World Events knew the show was popular and there might well be demand for a second season. If they killed off all the villains, how could they come back for a second season? Evidence for my theory is the fact that the American-made second season of Voltron ended with the death of Lotor.

yeah, and of course in the American version Zarkon magically escapes in a mother ship. As stated in other posts, you can't have it both ways and the Japanese storyline is the true storyline. Why it couldn't have the cool American music to go with it no one will ever know :(

This is the best way to end the sadistic reign of King Zarkon (Emperor Daibarzar) and his empire.

So far he might have committed suicide in here rather than surrender or escape in contrast to the U.S. version.

Lotor was still much braver and noble than he is...
