Ah! one of the best nights of my music loving nights back in 1975, when I bought this with WeatherReports 'Tale Spinnin' I felt I had graduated. Didn't need any drugs at all. Consider yourself dead if you don't like this! (the tune I mean) ¦¬D
@kinshasaAPP Stanley Clarke was a very huge influence on Mark King and King never hide that… There are more Level42 tunes that have some kind of reference to stuff Stanley wrote…
@santibanks But we all should thank Larry Graham for the basic concept! If it weren't for hime, Stanley,Mark or Wooten probably wouldn't be as big of names as they are today!
I remember the first time I heard this Jam. Early 80's. My cousin turned me on to Mr. Clarke. He had a Carver receiver, Nakamichi cassette deck(auto reverse, the cassette came out flipped and went back in) and those Bose speakers (maybe six inches wide and 12 inches tall) but they blew your ears off. We had beverage of choice and "plants". Been a fan of Stanley ever since.
@8thmandchigh I have my album of this carefully stored away and had not heard this in years. I too had the desease of the ears & wallet starting back in the late 70's. I had a Phase Linear Preamp & 400 Powr Amp driving Infinity Quantum Reference II towers. I attribute this song (and others) to the ringing in my ears but what the hell it was great fun. A little wine, a little weed, good friends and great music.
when i bought this amazing solo album of Mr. Clarke & heard this first trk of Lopsy i jus went nuts over this incredible song!..GREAT! GREAT! FANTASTIC! album!
When I first heard of Stanley, i thought that he was just another bassist, with just another band. These guys are amazing. Stanley had amazing work on the bass, and I love how jan hammer plays the keyboards. great work by them all
Ramones drummers?!?! Get real!!!! Billy Cobham, Lenny White, Tony Williams(May Peace Be Upon Him) and others I don't remember at the moment, were rocking the skins before those boys were a sperm in their dads nut sack!!!!! Please!!!!
There is no possible that Ramone would even be allowed in the same studio with Tony Williams, Billy Cobham or Lenny White. Just not even possible....LOL. First of all they would be far to technically skilled and know to many forms of music for Ramone.
These guys at least two of them are talked about as two of the best drummers ever in any genre. Come on now...........

Sad thing is, Louis did not continue to evolve. Stanley and Larry are still relevant in 2010. Love those records that Louis hit on back in the day.

To me this is one of the top 5 kick ass bass solos ever, better yet that it actually functions as a song.

Ok... I love the Ramones, but it is retard rock and should be compared to Stanley and crew.

Tony Williams could play with the Ramones. But he's dead. So are The Ramones.
The hardest thing about drumming is keeping a strong basic beat that young girls cream their silk panties to.
All the drummers mentioned here are my favorites you jazz/rock morons!
Mary Xmas to you all!

Not Billy Cobham on drums, but the late great Tony Williams giving an absolute *clinic* on how to play a 6/8 rhythm.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
I actually made records (not bad) and toured and Tommy and Marky Ramone are just as good as the above great drummers.
These jazz guys couldn't last a Ramones set!
You don't know drumming. Keeping a steady rocking beat is what drumming is all about!
That jazz/rock shit bores people.
I wanna sniff some glue!
