  • hey annajapana..do you know how to write and read kanji, hiragana and katakana?somebodys told me that if i want a japanese drivers license i need to write and read kanji..please i need your reply..thank you:)

  • @kittyprity it depends on what test you are taking. if you are just changing over from an international drivers license to a japanese license the written tests will differ. for me, i already had a license issued in my home country so the written test contained no writing portion. the written test was offered in both english and japanese. the only writing i had to do was filling out the form. and probably if need be they will accept information in romaji form.

  • Anna, could you not renew your international driving permit? My AAA agent in the U.S. told me she would mail another one over next year... Maybe she is crazy?

  • @harr7959 mmm yes, my AAA agent told me that too. but i believe in order to renew your international permit, you must be in your home country for 3 months prior to renewal. i may be wrong about the 3 months, but i know that you can't just renew it from abroad. yeah, i wish the beautiful lie was true...

  • 1:15 ... laugh out loud!

Luckily, Canadians only have to go as far as the eye test, none of the paper or driving test. Thanks to the powers that be... !

  • gonna sound like braggin' but I got it on my first try... But I will say the Shimane course wasn't as complicated as the one you show in this vid.

Drag for me is that my current Japan DL expires in one month and I don't move back until September 1st. I really hope they don't make me go thru the whole process all over again.

  • hahaha... i'm always toad in mario kart!! yeah, i have my international license, looks like i better not wait until it almost expires to get the japanese one just in case!

  • I'm surprised to hear the test is offered in other languages. That's neat in a way.

I have absolutely no desire to drive in Japan. I've been in taxis and that's scary enough for me. I have visions of death and destruction when I think about driving myself. Although, those mountain roads seem really fun...
