  • great vid. nice sound

  • Okay,I have to ask ( and I don't use a bow so don't ridicule me) but why did that one dude wear ear plugs???

  • After firing, the bow strikes with a bang.

  • Weird! I always figured crossbows would be as silent as a regular bow. Thanks for enlightening me!

  • depends on the bow some are almost silent

  • I think that is for concentration purposes!!

  • i have a 70 puound pistol crossbow. i love it i have taken down a mountain goat! but not from very far away. but still pretty good for the crossbows size

  • Really good! Extreme hunting!

  • im only 12 yrs old but i bullseyed a 3cm diameter target from 65 feet on my first shot :) i think thats pretty good.

  • Well done!

  • Go On!!!!

  • I love Armbrustschiessen xD

  • It's a sport so fine, so "Seventy"... I met it for the first time in 1979 reading the book "Bow and Crossbow" by Pierre Dubay.

I immediately become enthusiast, but I couldn't practice it: no ranges in Rome to enjoy this sport.

    Never too late, anyway.

  • The problem is the high cost of the tool...

  • I never knew there was such an event.

Is it Olympic yet? Also whats the draw weight? Doesn't look to be 175 pounds.

  • Match Crossbow will never be Olympic: field crossbow will be, sooner or later.

Probably the draw weight shouldn't be more than 150... the bow must be made of spring steel, and must be drawn by a separated lever.

I repeat, that's why prone position is not issued.

Another typical difference between match crossbow and Olympic rifle shooting is that you can use two pillows in the kneeling position: one placed down the foot and the other down the hip.

  • i have always wanted a crossbow!

  • why arent these guys shooting 308's at the insurgents?

  • This just like air guns competition! XD

  • i was thinking along the same line,it seemed to me that those crossbows werent too powerful, maybe thats how its supposed to be for competition?i dont know...

  • Actually they are not. The most important thing about those crossbows is their high precision at 30 meters.

Such a special shooting tool was developed around 1952, making a mix of different european traditions.

Belgians, for example, used short crossbows to shoot at fabric made "birds", fixed on a pole.

Italians and Sanmarinese crossbowmen used (and still use) heavy wall-crossbows for competition, swiss and germans made crossbows whose trigger mechanisms were assembled by watchmakers.

  • Wat are the bolts made of? The length of them?

  • Bolts were made of wood; then, in our days they are made of thick carbon fiber.

Bolts are EXACTLY long 14 centimeters. Their points are of steel, 6 millimeters in diameter, and give nearly the same hole, on paper, as a 22lr.

Vatican Swiss Guards practice this sport in Vatican undergrounds, believe it or not!!!

  • 6 mm diameter??? Wouldnt that be the bolts thickness?

    looks more like 6 cm!

  • Not the large "head", just the point, the cilindrical rod placed in line with the "head"...

It's a sport practiced expecially in Germany,Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, France... few enthusiasts are in Italy, all living in Alto Adige, the german speaking region of northern Italy.

They shoot at 30 meters, standing and kneeling only, and at 10 meters, standing only.

A lever is used to load the crossbow, that's why prone position doesn't exist...

  • Meh. Crossbows are okey, I still like a regular compound bow.

  • Same ere
