  • Careful Pat you are entering Kenny G territory here.

  • @gbtayc Pat Metheny is not playing elevator music! Don't say that!

  • @willschmidguitar I didn't say that

Just that this is the genre of music Kenny G frequents. smooth jazz

I like this song and don't have a closed mind

  • @gbtayc Lol, I know you didn't say that. Kenny G is way to smooth, like elevator music. No doubt that Mr. G is talented, I just don't like his music that much. Besides, I consider this more fusion than smooth jazz.

  • @willschmidguitar

This is definately smooth jazz done right

I am not familiar enough with Kenny G's music to comment.

  • Lyle Mays, makes me cry every time I hear him...

  • la mejor musica y para mi unos de los meores guitarristas es pat matheny

  • @emeraldomusik Mahavishnu Orchestra is boring.

  • @mrjedidja ooooooh ! what a bitter revenge for me, now i had to pay my penalty, mercy, mercy

  • @emeraldomusik no, im just trolling you. they are awesome. *green*

  • @emeraldomusik but i love your response anyways. quite laid-back! (:

  • Life was so much simpler when i thought Metallica were gods...Sigh...

  • i perfer george benson in his prime...

  • great!!!!!!!!

  • 2:14-2:25 o_o

  • Lyle Mays at the very beggining unbeliavable phrasing, soooooooo sooooooo well played.....I am just crying

  • un poquito porno....

  • Talento Absoluto....

  • Wow...love the mellow scream of that Ibanez PM120 guitar!

  • the chord progression in this is just absolutely mind blowing. absolutely wonderful music. thanks pat metheny...you make the world a nicer place.

  • boring

  • @emeraldomusik Too bad your comment couldn't entertain us more.

  • @fenderbender92 ok. here is some comment:

Metheny is the absolute king...............of making faces to the public. He always wished he had 10% of the potential or imaginative power of Allan Holdsworth, John McLaughlin, the cool fluent phrasing of Pat Martino !, Barney Kessel, Joe Pass, Tal Farlow, René Thomas or the GIGANTIC guitar skills of Shawn Lane, Tommy Emmanuel, Tuck Andress, the subtle refined sound of Ralph Towner or Philip Catherine. Go enjoy Pat's elevator music.

  • @emeraldomusik The list of names you've drawled over is impressive. Wow! I'm absolutely over whelmed. Yes, while Pat will say he does wish to play like his heroes, the fact still stands that he expresses himself, regardless of how you lament his music. Somehow, I think you'd do better discussing baseball. You forgot to mention Wes Montgomery, you orangutan.

  • @fenderbender92 Pat Metheny must be very lucky to have a new advocate defending his fabric softener guitar style. Don't forget : orangutans don't like elevator music, it is too boring.

  • @emeraldomusik I cannot be new, I was born in '92. You're a real scream. Leave me to my boring music.

  • @emeraldomusik oh oh oh you sir are absolutely lame. i'm a fan of holdworth, mclaughlin, martino,, but still i'm blown away by pat. you can't compare those guys, they all play different jazz. and this tune is groovy and catchy as hell, and pat's phrases are so inspiring. he makes the guitar sings,

  • This is smooooth!!!

  • I truly deeply hate sexy, romantic, r&b, fake, smooth jazz, but if this is "smooth jazz" then it must the best smooth jazz ever made.

  • @MiroslavMalesevic Oh noo this is not smooth jazz at all!!! Come on....

  • OH MY GOD! IT'S WALDO!!

JK, Metheny = Best jazz player ever

  • @XxboVodxX why ?

  • it seems like in all the videos on youtube he barely uses this sig model.

  • How can his tendons take it? I keep expecting his arms to erupt in fire!!

  • Crackers make the funniest faces playing music

  • @ALLOFMYLOVE4U Racists make the stupidest comments.

  • @ALLOFMYLOVE4U obviously you have never seen any of the blues Musicians. My mother loves them especially BB King, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, etc and they make some helious looks, ck it out....Peace Lady L.

  • If god could play, he would play like Pat Metheny

  • The beginning really resembling Wes Montgomery "Bumpin' on sunrise"

    0:22-1:18

  • was I the only one who thought the thumbnail looked like Will Ferrell?

  • 8 people don't know what good music is.

  • @spastic_runt01 Maybe they do and you don't oh pontificator!

  • @efzt You suck at trolling. Try again. ;-)

  • @tormolan Entonces listen to some beaner music from Meehico if they don't have Jazz in Peru.

  • @efzt Get a life.

  • que buenos fraseos!

  • Surnatural sense of music !

  • @Merdeseille5 He frog we say supernatural. Learn le langue d'accord? :D

  • @efzt Go away, child.

  • @Pontiffpompous I prefer Stern,Beck and Montgomery to Pat. Is that alright with you supreme arbitor of values? go listen to your Giant Steps reharms you Jazz snob wannabe! :D

  • @efzt Jazz Snob? Yes. I am a HUGE Jazz Snob. Got a problem with that, troll? Wannabe? No. Not in the slighest degree, you fake elitist poseur. If anything, you're the wannabe. :-)

  • A fuss in the night, My favorite memorys gone by together.

  • Excellent!!!!!!!!

  • 3:50 does anybody could explain this lick?

  • @dkendzior there are multiple videos about it on youtube. just search for "the pat metheny lick"

  • @dkendzior i cant tab it but i can explain it ... all it is is a series of pull-offs and after ever pull of he just plays a note on the string above ... evry note is within the pentatonic scale

  • @dkendzior i'd love to be able to but cant.. Pat from another planet !

  • @dkendzior There are video tutorials on that specific jazz lick of pats online.

  • Super

A fantastic musical trip we'll never forget.

  • Isn't he just fantastic, apart from being (still) too gorgeous ,) ,)

    THANK YOU FOR HQ UPLOADING*******

    Cordial greetings!

  • The Group has such a fantastic groove. This song is the perfect showcase of that.

  • you should see how long lyle mays hair is now!

  • Ich höre ihn immer wider gern. Ein super Musiker, der mich schon 25 Jahre begleitet............

  • what the hell do they say when they sing?

  • @dansmith0216 Nothing. They're vocables.

  • @dansmith0216 PMG vocals are wordless, with some rare exceptions. In the case of this particular song, they are wordless. I like it this way because it removes any emotional baggage that is commonly tied to lyrics, which typically have some sort of agenda.

  • @mikeroephonics That's a nice way of looking at it. I hadn't considered it that way before. I definitely agree, though. I like words, so able to listen to music without the distraction of lyrics is a huge blessing to me. Much easier to relax to, as well. There are plenty of great songs that I find difficult to listen to because the lyrics are so incredibly cringeworthy.

  • @mikeroephonics Very nicely put, it is so true. =)

  • @mikeroephonics Very well put. The voice is treated as another instrument with PMG. Very nice.

  • Pat's solo was AMAZING!!!

  • Cool!

  • Artists like Pat Metheny make you so thankful that, through whatever circumstances, his talent, dedication, and wonderful muscianship, have been allowed to develop, grow, and nurture throughout his career. He is in a very elite group.

  • duskboys02, we are waiting you to start shuting your mouth. any way, how are you?...

  • i'd sell my soul for that phrasing

  • @norostereo ... XD!!!

  • Who? Metheny? Are you serious? Do you have ears?

  • for him to start playing? i obviously respect your opinion, but metheny has not only one of the most recognizable tone, but in my opinion one of the best. his phrasing is studied around the world by thousands of guitar players. millions of people wish that they could play 1/4 at the level that he is at. his lines move like no other

  • wat...lol

  • Agree. This is not the best performance (neither the best contribution) of the PMG

  • TOTALLY kicks ass!! As to be expected..Pat and Lyle once again prove that they are a mighty force to be reckoned with. Nice!!

  • If Pat wants to dress like a French mime or Soviet SpetzNaz soldier with the stripes, then I guess it's his right!!!

  • Man this song is slick!

  • Thank you!

  • what language? if english wat r they saying?

  • 素晴らしい!!

  • this means "excellent!"

  • ie "subarashii"

  • I don't know which is greater - the joy I get from listening to this group, or the joy I get watching them really enjoying making it. They genuinely seem to get kicks from their music. I'm also impressed by Pat's willingness to share the spotlight with others; he doesn't seem to have ego problems. In every interview I've ever seen, he seems like such a pleasant person. Class act.

  • Is Mark Ledford the black guy? I have also had trouble identifying which one Ledford was and which one Blamires was

  • Yes, Mark is black. David Blamires is on the left. Blamires ended up in Chicago and does composing and playing for commercials. Both these guys seem extremely talented. Not sure what Mark is doing now.

  • Mark Ledford died of a heart attack in 2004

  • mark is dead!

  • is he playing in octaves? genius

  • Negative, actually that is lyle maze on keyboards playing the same thing metheny is, just an octave lower!!

  • *Lyle Mays

  • we are from brasil and we love pat down here ... hes the greatest...oh and i cant forget his keyboard player laya mays

  • and i know that Pat played with a good bunch of south-american musicians, right?

  • Oh,man I would love to be at this consert!! Genius! Marcal is a
