The reason people prefer Macs is because of the SOFTWARE. If you looked only at hardware, you would notice it is overpriced.

But remember, the Mac OS is much more secure. OS X is also built on all the hardware it runs on, so it uses it 100% natively (whereas Windows must accept any hardware, and cannot maximize performance on it). Not to mention that the upcoming OS, Snow Leopard, will be the first ever fully 64-bit operating system.

I could go on...

Point is, it's not so black and white.

There are EDITIONS that have 64 bit. But 32 bit by far is the most common, and Windows 7 will be the same: 32 and 64 bit copies. It's a challenge for Microsoft because the transition will bring about a ton of needed fixes for developers a programmers, and having both 32 and 64 bit editions out really only complicates it.

Apple can get away with launching 100% 64 bit because it has a smaller developer base, and until MS catches up, it will have the more powerful OS because of it.

Just today they updated all their iMacs, Mac Mini's, Mac Pro's, and Macbook Pros. In every case, the consumer gets more for their money (for instance, with the iMacs, you can get twice the memory and storage, as well as a larger screen, for the same price).

If you want to make an argument, at least back it up.

Try to find a like-Mac PC, then factor in the costs for backup software, a security suite, etc.

THEN tell me it is a better deal.

lol some people need common sense. VGM10000, I agree with you 100%. I bought an $1800 macbook this winter, but that doesnt mean its pc equivalent is $500. In fact, a similar HP laptop ran for $1400. It was definately worth it. Plus, how many notebooks today have DDR3 memory? Slim to none. That HP certainly didn't. Oh yeah don't forget the 7 HOURS of battery life I get.
