I think its just a bug in the game. Usually a lot of people, about 99%, when they start the first lap, they dont go backwards. Testers from Sony and Polyphony didnt check this.

Something simular to this happened once when i was playing driver 2, it was on a real ps1 and i was driving around but in the replay i hit a wall and kept driving into it just like the replay here, i'm thinking that not starting the timer has nothing to do with the car reacting like that and that it reacted like that by itself, did you try doing that a second time?

it did this on the original driver for ps1 aswell. its like it could store a certain amount of footage but once the storage was full, it made the rest up

Lmao I remember this kinda thing happening on the test track!! This game was so so flawed because they rushed it out but it was still brilliant. Funny stuff!!

hehe thanks =) although it does look like cheats - anyone not involved into the GT2 would probably be like "hey you cheater, look, even the replay went wrong, don't tell me you were doing everything legally" =)

Nice glitch, Nano. ;) There's a glitch somewhat alike to this on GT4. I put on the super acceleration cheat using a cheat disc, then raced a race. Then watched the replay without using the super acceleration cheat, and the car drove completely differently to what I had done in the race itself.

But I prefer your glitch here because it doesnt require cheats. ;)
