  • The DeLeos are huge Beatles fans, and Robert DeLeo plays some of the most amazing and underrated basslines in the biz. I am a guitarist and bassist and Dean is a great guitar playing, but on a lot of STPs songs, the bass is what really carries it and his bass lines are unreal, harder to learn than the guitar. This band knows how to groove and not just thrash on power chords, and that is what made them unique. Great song structures, great singer, great lyrics = great band.

  • I think these guys are a little underrated. I know they get a lot of radio play, but like... damn people could learn some lessons from these guys.

  • Video is 4:20 long... :)

  • Now THAT! is craft. What the hell ever happened to good song writing. Time and time and time again I watch new bands come on late night TV and there is nothing. NOTHING! STP is tops. Bring back great song writing. Please.

  • @probrojeffro Dude your not kidding, so many songs today just lack a good melody. I watch some new bands today and there's just nothing to remember them by. You said the magic word craft. I hope it comes back some day!

  • Anyone know how he got sarah michelle gellar to make this music video with him..? I thot it was cool, lucky girl! I would have loved to be her in the video!!!! Wow he makes me drool...

  • @Shopwhore75 Is the Scott platonic love.

  • Better country than any country band ever made

  • i thought he looked like hugh jackman but oh well...awesome melody man...

  • This Group is truely unique, and refreshingly creative. So nice to hear real talent for a change. There's so much crap out there today. Scott and STPs are great. This group is much better than velvet revolver. But, thats not to say VR is bad, the are very good. These guys are better musicians though.

  • The attire is homage to Junior Brown. Just brilliant on so many levels.....

  • ah, i clearly recall seeing this back in the fall of 2000,on Letterman, it was pretty much a flawless performance of this track, not only vocally by Scot, but musically by STP. Scot has such a genuinely sharp / clean voice,i am happy that he has chosen to stop killing himself. and....in this clip, they all

    have some GREAT style too.

  • That is Junior Brown sitting in with them.

  • Scott Weiland in...THE MASK!

  • This is a true, real life tune about initial meetings between a man and a woman. I hope this guy decides he wants to live. He is a beautiful singer!

  • I can't believe people are making comments about their clothes. I didn't google this tune to see what they were wearing. This previous statement was right, I'm a play for fun bassist and it is wicked. Ya'll lighten up and enjoy.

  • The bass line on this is just nasty. Put on the album version, turn up your bass and enjoy. And then live he sings harmony while playing it. Inspiration.

  • You guys being freaked out by what they're wearing are like a bunch of old ladies sitting around the bridge club talking about what Mrs. Jones wore to the barbecue. Who gives a shit? It's entertainment. And I think it works just fine with the song. What a bunch of uptight, redneck old ladies. If your minds were any smaller they'd collapse.

  • The vibe on this tune is just riveting. Genius.

  • chills. jr brown is an amazing touch here.

  • it really annoys me when a performer crosses from obscurity, into fame, into celebrity. why? they get wacky on stage. gimme a break...just sing it scott bowie. please, already

  • too good.

  • I like the drummer is the only one dressed casually. Hes like fuck this costume shit.

  • @cpowell786 It's funny because usually Dean and Robert (guitarist and bassist) have totally normal clothes on, Scott is dressed all crazy, and the drummer is just shirtless.

  • Scott is one of the best frontmen in the history of music, hes just a damn genius and what more cant I say..

  • This guy is off the hook in some of the live recordings of this song. No live version off this song on itunes. It would sell like heroin.

  • @frankdrebin and give you the same effect as heroin.

  • a+

  • @tlbonehead; Yup, that's Junior Brown. Huge fan of STP and JB, strange pairing but somehow perfect. May be my favorite STP song, brilliant performance

  • Scott is Carmen San Diego!

  • I love Scott's kowtow, or bow! Love the fact that he waited till the end to show the hair cut! Great stuff!

  • is that Jr Brown on slide?

  • Yeah I think the heroin was responsible for that crazy ass outfit.

  • it makes me sad that Scott Weiland had to get so messed up on drugs; this is by far one of the most talented and creative bands ever to come out of the whole 90s "grunge" type music scene. I'm a huge fan.

  • @forkhead you DO realize this song would never exist if he wasn't "messed up" on drugs, right? He was high as balls when No. 4 came out.

  • @BradE17 I know he was; but obviously they took their toll.

  • @forkhead oh they did, but everyone knows heroin=great rock music.

  • mmmm scott weild...if only

  • NO PUEDE SER TAN SEXY!!!

  • @MsSolz Scott Weiland no puede ser tan sexy, o los ropes de scott weiland no puede?

  • is the the mask ? LOL

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of the coolest front men ever!!!

  • love this song,beautiful.......STP RULES!

  • scott should a part of every best performer top 10 ever made

  • who the F is owen wilson? how many times must anyone say that's eric kretz?

  • Fuckin' Scott. Dressed to kill!

  • Man...Jr. Brown is rocking it with the melody!!!

  • This proves ,If your a rockStar ,,,you can wear WTF you want haha

Scott Kicks ass as usually, one of the best Voices ...Period...

ever see some of his Solo stuff WAY WAY back in the day before STP...

    Unreal then and unreal now..

    cheers

  • @eastcoast78 no it just proves that if you do enough heroin you can get away with anything. hahah

  • Is that Junior Brown?

  • Weiland is an incredible talent, but coming from obsurity, the band was to him what the Apollo rockets were to Neil Armstrong.

  • @rubbersole79

What exactly does rhat mean? Im not familiar with Neil Armstrong

  • @drfeelgoodTO

    r ya familiar with wiki?

  • @drfeelgoodTO Um..You never heard of the Moon landing?? WOW..Just to clear this one up too..Neil Armstrong

is famous for the Apollo moon landing..Lance Armstrong is the world renown Cyclist!..Ya know..He rides a bicycle! =P

  • @dgenerated And Tim Armstrong plays in Rancid..And Billie Joe Armstrong in Green Day! =]

  • Weiland was about three spoonfuls into the night during this...

As tragic as his, Layne's, and Andy wood's drug addictions were, the music would have never been the same without it...

  • @WarmothGuitarist Ditto. There is a phrase "Everything in the universe requires equal and adequate payment." For music this EPIC and FULL of the intended feeling, there had to be an equally huge cost, but seeing how good the music is, and the artist having no regrets, make it an eventual positive

  • @ShinogiKosho

    Well said.

    Well said, indeed...

  • A very mellow bearded, junior brown on guit?steel... niiiice.

  • Robs harmonies are WAY underrated

  • @carlosguitarlos2 i agree 100% and he's a smokin player too

  • @carlosguitarlos2 hell yeah, Rob De Leo is the man. I'm mainly a guitar player, I play various instruments but guitar has been "the shit" for me my whole life... and it was thanks to this guy that I started playing the bass. It's really pleasant to play Rob's bass lines, such a beautiful music... it makes you feel complete.

  • No. 4 is a straight up classic!!!

  • jejej "THE MASK"

  • lol at the cowboy costumes

  • no, i think its eric kretz

  • best band ever. yesterday and today, and owen wilson is the fuckin shit too

  • The more he got into heroin, the more Scott started to look and sound like William S. Burroughs. I love both of those men as inspirations, but opiates are a real son of a bitch.

  • He reminds me of Bowie a good deal.

  • @SOMERVILLELISA absolutely good point remark, I adore them both

  • Weiland looks manly? Uh, not in this clip. He's a great singer and frontman though. I've never seen STP (yet) but I've been to two VR shows and he's awesome. This is one of my all time favorite STP tunes. Actually one of my faves period. Glad STP are back and I love the new CD as well. Hickory Dichotomy babay!

  • owen willson is on drums

  • @ALdoHaRo hahahahahahahahahaha

  • @ALdoHaRo That would be Eric Kretz, sir.

  • @revolutionday1 no sir! Hes obviously owen wilson, look at him at 1:02

  • @ALdoHaRo No sir, that is a lemon tartlet.

  • @ALdoHaRo absolutely, I always thought they looked the same!

  • man i love me some fucking stone temple pilots!

  • One of THE finest front men in the business. H.O.T.

  • Only Weiland can dress this way and come through looking so MANLY !!

  • Only Weiland can dress this way and come through looking so MANLY !!

  • Very cool song ...

  • i cant get over that guys bassline...its brilliant.

  • @ori8u robert deleo is one of the best bassisys of all time man. i gotta agree with you sour girl is just an amazing song all around

  • @ori8u search their for their version in storytellers, and feast your ears...

  • Beautiful! Thank you so much for this video. Loved the borderline-Bowie hint.

  • Junior Brown, ahh, got it.

  • I don't know what some of these posters are talking about, that is Eric Kretz on drums. Not sure who the steel guitarist is tho. Anyone?

  • Man... fucking Scott can wear the coolest outfits and just fit in all of them! Great great song, I love the part "She had reasons... they all have reasons!" Very telling

  • Scott is a cool guy and WAS great. Too bad drugs got the best of him and he fucked up a good band.

  • @paintit411 scott is cool!

  • Owen Willson On Drums

  • I never saw this footage, this is fuckin hot

  • junior brown. cool

  • as a frontman, Scottie cudda being the next Bowie...a camelion-like ability to switch styles and vocalisisms @ will. Shame he's had to battle the demon heroin

  • is there a coolest frontman?

  • @DJCienar : Bowie, Morrison or Hutchence come to mind

  • bittersweet psychedelic music looks good on them

  • I fucking love Scott's style. Brilliant.

  • I think if David letterman Likes a Band he ask the to come on alot ....I know he most like the Foo Fighters too they have been on his show alot..

  • damn how many times has he been on letterman 5?

  • lovin the slide guitar...great song <3

  • owen wilson on drums

  • LOL..hahaha...gary busey on guitar!...he looks like gary busey LOLOLOL.

  • he has a kick ass tailor =)

  • I remember when I saw that show, I was 11,

it was amazing, since that day I-m a STP fan

  • Man Scott Weiland is an odd duck!

  • That's the one and only Junior Brown on his self-made double steel guitar in the back ground...yeah Texas!!!! I suppose that's one of the reasons for the cowboy hats cuz Junior always wears one onstage along with a suit and tie.

  • Slick !!

  • That's why they were at the top of the pile in my youth. They took a lot of risks, and wrote such great material. Glad they're back.

  • I never thought I would put Stone Temple Pilots, and Junior Brown in the same sentence.

Check out Junior's Brown's solo stuff. It's awesome.

  • now,thats what i call a LOOK¡¡

but even reminds me to david bowie in the 70s

  • I had some idiot try to argue that creed and puddle of mudd are better than stp. I didn't even have to respond to his post, he was eaten alive by everyone else.

  • puddle of mudd is mediocre. creed sucks dick. there isn't anything that comes close to stp and thats the truth.

  • puddle of mudd and creed both have millions of fans and have sold millions of records so how is it they suck? I don't care for either of them myself but just wondering how that is

  • because there are sadly only a few free thinkers out in the world today. the masses are starving for something, but end up feeding on what the corporates hand them.

  • that goes for STP too

  • my favorite stone temple pilots video

  • when was this?

  • love this sour girl song. i'm gonna sing all day at work today

  • owen wilson on drums

  • Junior on the slide.. hell yeah! that dude is awesome.

  • <----Agreed

  • i have to agree with you. these guys are waaaay underrated.

  • my favorite band, no joke, love STP

  • i heard them play this live a week or so ago at bayfest and man dean can play he added like a 2 minute solo and i was blown away thinking wow this should really be in the song

  • Scott is a straight up pimp.

  • fugging awesome

  • Rob Deleo is my favorite bassist right now.

  • I agree with HendrixPrinceFlea, Robert is one of my favorite bass guitarists. him and Geddy Lee.

  • He sings (and looks!) FAB - as usual !!

  • Awesome...What a legend Scott is

  • fantastica song

  • damn, a flawless version of the song, scott deserves more credit for what he does, definatly one of the better grunge singers, these guys are really uniqe, i dont know why people accused them of being immitators when they first came out, theyre abviously not trying to immitate anyone here

  • And I'm digging the outfit, too.....

  • Saw them in Atlanta in October (I think), they were fuckin awesome!!

  • I'm just joking here, but doesn't that look like Owen Wilson on drums :)

Scott certainly has got his 'Thin White Duke' on!

  • I'm guessing few get the thin white Duke reference. I wish more did and yes very much so the TWD. Now if they'de cover Andy Warhol wouldn't that be cool!

  • i think everyone gets the thing of the white duke dude..don't feel special : )

  • not special frankycr... just old.HA!

  • haha well that's great, actually i'm 18 and i love bowie, maybe that's why...sorry if i offend you!

  • no worries I think it's great that your young and love the TWD. I guess I give Scott W lots of leeway to go through phases and people change. Bowie for instance. He's been through so many changes. People should live and let live ya know. Carry on Frankcyr.

  • : )

  • WOW...this double guitar is a phenomena :-)

    love it...

and the solo at 1:22 is so beautiful...

  • id hardly call that a solo

    it was 10 seconds long
