  • If anyone can tell me the simple way to RESTART the X server, i swear to god i will give you 1 million dollars, or at least a VERY big hug, because there is no restart button or anything!!!???

  • The current settings cannot be completely applied due to one or more of the following reasons:

The location of an X screen has changed.

The location type of an X screen has changed.

The color depth of an X screen has changed.

An X screen has been added or removed.

    Xinerama is being enabled/disabled

For all the requested settings to take effect, you must save the configuration to the X config file and RESTART the X server!!!

Now this suck because, HOW THE H*** DO YOU RESTART THE X SERVER???

  • Okay so i'm a newbie at Ubuntu and i am just starting to try it out for the first time in my life... Now i just got the Nvidia X server settings working on the Ubuntu 11.10 OS, but everytime i go in to the X Server settings and try setting up multiple screens, it works until i click the apply button. Then this text shows:

  • That's a nice work bro. Helped me. Tx

  • Linux can suck my butthole :)

  • amzertech, thank tyou very much and it will be cool if you will how as a multiseat configuration, as i having trouble writing all that stuf for a multiseat...

  • This was extremely helpful. Thank you so much.

  • Thank you so much!

  • Thank you :D

  • Great Video, Thank you very much for taking the time to make it.

  • nice job buddy It was a great help

  • I have question, what do you do if you plug in the extra monitor but the system does not register it, and lists your original monitor as unknown. As you can probably tell I'm having some issues here.

  • Great video. Very good job!

  • I want to have 2 monitors but I want them to be "Duplicate displays." Meaning that it displays the same desktop on both monitors. Is that possible? If yes how can I do it? I have an Nvidia card but the control panel for it stops working every time I use it so I just go to Personalize then display settings by right clicking on my desktop.

  • THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!

  • My monitor was not detected... I just get a green screen. The hell do I need to do? Am I missing something?

  • Thanks, this is exactly what I needed to know. You even have a similar desktop setup as me. XD

  • how can this be done if one monitor is on the card, and the other is on the intergrated VGA? I know it can be done, i've done it in windows. But now I'm a linux guy

  • was very nice to watch, even though i was already familiar with dual monitors in linux (ati and nvidia)... ;)

  • Another good one amzerthech! Quick question. Do you know anything about "Sync to VBlank" and "Allow Flipping" settings in the Nvidia X server settings? I've looked up what they are, but I didn't understand it. If you know what these do, can you share it with me in layman's terms? Thanks man.

  • Sync to Vblank will help prevent textures from tearing in 3d graphics. flipping activate a "Ship" (might be part of the GPU) on your video card that makes transfering large amounts of data (textures) between memory very fast.

    Hope that helped. Thanks :)
