Just so you know, I bought this microphone based on your review. It was very helpful, tnx. However, I encountered the problem with the mic so I am asking for help. I used mic 4-5 times with no problems and I am very satisfied with the sound quality. I tried to record yesterday and the sound was very low with a lot of noise even when I upped the levels on sound in control panel to 100%. Did the battery get depleted so fast or what? Please help.
excellent helpful video ! I need a Lav that can plug direct into my dslr camera, I don't mind paying whatever but none of the big guns "Shure, Rode" make one everything they have either doesn't terminate in a 3.5 mini jack or requires phantom power, this looks perfect, thanks.
@musicforindies actually the rode videomic is also a considerable choice as an on-camera mice, because it is quite cheap (guess <$200) for the value. I have one, and really love it. it's battery powered, and has great quality both from long distance and for speaking directly into it for narration.
I have the Sanyo VPC HD 2000 Camera and it has a 2.5 mm stereo microphone input jack. I bought the Sony ECM-C115 Lavaliere mono microphone and a 2.5to3.5 mm adapter and it does not work at all with the camera. Would this mic work or is it the camera that is the problem do you think?
I rubbed it with my finger and it made less noise than i expected. In real situations it didn't make any noise clipped on people walking, sitting on a tree (harvesting apple! still no noise), etc :). so i think it's quite fair.

thank you a lot.. especially the part where you switch to the build-in mic and lavelier and back was useful, to imagine the difference.

Thanks :)
Out of interest, which camera were you using? Just to compare that internal mic to my own camera's.

Is the battery necessary, or does it work without the battery?
And does the microphone pick up your voice well if you were to rest it on top of a computer monitor and talk into it sitting at a desk?

@gazm2k5 battery is neccessary, if you don't turn on, it's very very silent (the camera's amp cannot gain that much)

If you buy it, don't get scared of the 90s feeling oldschool sony cam on the box :D
the other thing to care about:
I've read that the clip breaks easily so take care and don't click the mic in the clip, just 'plug it' from above
szabovince 2 years ago
Nice test. Not too much noise when you touch the mike or the clip ?
