  • Gorgeous Sound. Would love to attend Berklee. What does it take?

  • This song pwns.

  • Just beautiful,

    Thankyou for posting Tomo

  • @Chamberlinable Thank you. Tomo

  • Btw who is the singer? Jamie cullum?

  • @ngeray Johnathan Carr I believe. Student at Berklee a little while back.

  • I notice a lot of questions about pickups and hardware and this and that. It's really important that we not stray away from all the specifics and remember the music.

  • @TheGrantCave Thanks!

    Tomo

  • The biggest thing that defines John's tone is his fingers! Like SRV himself, NOBODY can sound like John, even with the Two Rock or The Black One. He's already amongst the titans of guitar and as long as he doesn't ruin any more Robert Johnson songs, he can only rise to greater heights.

If you're that worried about it, check out the Klein Jazzy Cat pickups, I think they're more representative of his tone than the Big Dippers. Then again, what do I know?

  • What are the specs on these pups!!

  • Hello Tomo, big fan.Anyway,do you know what settings he had on his TS10 here?

    Thanks!

  • I just bought jazzy cat pickups, but I'm wondering is Mayer using d'pergo pickups?

  • What pickup position is he using here?

  • neck

  • scratch that - neck and middle position 4

  • lol we all want to know what kind of pickups are in that guitar.

  • I've read that he likes really weak pickups and he usually has a bit of a scooped tone (lower mid range). Don't know that this really helps.

  • lower output pickups. I played his black strat. Sounded great!

    Tomo

  • @TomoFujitaMusic Big Dippers possibly?

  • No, I don't think so.

    Tomo

  • check out my video on my page. it tells you what kind.

  • Hey Tomo, got a question, does john mayer have big dippers in the black one. Or are they 57/62 s?

  • Special pickups!

    Tomo

  • texas specials??? jk! but what are they?

  • could you tell me the name of that song? I'd like to jam to it..

  • I've attended the Berklee 5-week program... Unbelievable school.

  • Thank you.

    Tomo

  • This song is by jonathan carr. the joke's on me. he has a myspace

  • whats the name of this song? Its bluesy and I like it

  • damned $8500 amp.

  • There's some nice relics that fender has made. I think that they are called "Music Zoo guitars." Those alone run 7,000... Nice sounding axes..

  • John Mayer + Jamie Cullum?!?!?! Fantastic tone, I love his strat!

  • I too thought it was Jamie Cullum singing, but what's the name of this song then?

Awesome playing by JM, as always

    Thanks Tomo

  • I bet that if you make the title "John Mayer Recording At Berklee" or something along those lines, you'll get at least 10x the views.

    great guitar too, sounds amazing

  • Do you know even know who Tomo Fujita is?

  • yes, why do you ask?

  • just wondering. Some of John Mayer fans are idiots.

  • I'm not really a Mayer fan, I don't own any of his music, but I do think he's a good guitarist with a nice sound.

  • Thank you so much! I added a new one with your suggestion.

    Thanks,

    Tomo

  • nice.

  • thanks Tomo

  • You're welcome and thank you!

    Tomo

  • More than nice!

  • He played a few takes... each one is great. He makes "melody" What a cool playing. Enjoy!

    Tomo

  • Thank you. I really did.

  • Hey Tomo, I was wondering what your relation with John is. Did you get aquainted because he was a student at Berklee or did you get to know him via other things? How would you describe his evolution as a singer-songwriter and guitarist?

    Thanks!

  • I'll make an educated guess for you. I've looked at Tomo's other videos, and he has studio sessions with Steve Jordan. Steve Jordan is the drummer for the "John Mayer Trio." I'm sure John has heard a few things about Tomo through SJ. When John decided to go visit his former school, Tomo was probably one of the first guys for him to talk to.

  • tomo was john personal instructor at berklee when he was a student

  • Right on.

  • Thanks fellas :)

  • mmm...

  • it has such a warm and thick tone :)

  • NICE
