Actually, this is a question rather than a comment. I seem to remember a story arc from the late 50s or early 60s that was built around some type of Communist plot taking shape. As I recall, too, a woman was the ringleader of the plot. Have I simply imagined something--or did it actually take place?
When Mike Karr returned to defend Louise for the phony murder of Phil, John Larkin had been replaced by Laurence Hugo who'd played Aunt Cornelia's gigilo on Search for Tomorrow in the late '50's.
@piqueroi As always I enjoy your comments/tidbits I never knew about Edge cast members.
Hugo was my introduction to Edge. He was so great in the role of Mike Karr, esp. during the time Laurie Ann got kidnapped by the syndicate and Mike Karr was driven to the brink of being the syndicate's puppet.
It was that storyline that made me an Edge fan for life.
After Mike Karr proved Teresa Vetter had framed Judy Marceau for murder, he went to Capitol City in 1961. Phil and Louise Capice returned to Monticello. Philanthropist Casey Reno winning their trust arranged for them to adopt a baby. Casey was ordered by Scofield Kilbourne to get Phil to take over an import facility, unknowingly bringing dope to Monticello. Scofield had been jailed for embezzlement by Grimsley years ago and swore vengeance by destroying his family.
@TheZ58 Lambert was substituted for Phil in a phony car accident and was wrapped up in bandages before being taken to the Grimsley home, Orchard Hill. Kilbourne resided in an asylum overlooking the estate with his lover Ursula Bauer. When Lambert finally tried to bed Louise she knew he wasn't Phil but got a phone call from Kilbourne proving Phil was alive and would be killed if she told anyone. On a stormy night Scofield shot Lambert, framing Louise for murdering Phil.
After Big Frank who'd strangled Ruth Hakim and framed Jack Lane fell out of a plane while trying to push Mike Karr out, Larry Hagman as Lt. Ed Gibson, assisting Chief Marceau appeared summer 1960. The sister accepted an after-school job delivering books, not knowing the packages contained dope. Sam Haven had hired her. When she discovered what she was doing, Sam tried to kill her and she was blinded in her fall. We didn't know Sam was working for Casey Reno, who didn't appear 'til 1961.
@piqueroi These early Edge stories are greater than what soaps (which I cannot watch anymore) are like now. You're a gem. No wonder Edge of Night was so loved back then. Thanks for all this information.

Sam had blinded Ed Gibson's sister trying to kill her and at a party she recognized his voice. Kilbourne hired Lambert to kill Reno before he could talk and still bent on destroying Winston's family, had a plastic surgeon make Lambert look like Phil.
@piqueroi Wow! I would have loved seeing Edge during that period. Why did Sam Haven try to kill Ed Gibson's sister? I wonder why Louise didn't know her own husband other than his face?
The letter read by Orin had been written by Laura (played by Millette Alexander, who played THREE major roles on Edge of Night -- Gail Armstrong in 1958, Laura Hillyer in 1965-1966 and Julie Jamison in 1968-1969).
GREG MAY of Orlando, FL says: "Does anyone remember the storyline in the early 60's when the mob had a crook undergo plastic surgery to look like Phil Capice? That storyline titillated housewives because Louise was always lamenting to her father, Winston, that Phil wouldn't 'retire for the evening with her'.
John Lambert might have looked like Phil from the neck up but not from the neck down!"
GREG MAY of Orlando, FL says: "Did you know LESTER RAWLINS (Orin Hillyer) was in the movie "Diary of a Mad Housewife" starring Richard Benjamin and Carrie Snodgress? He played Carrie's psychiatrist and his cameo scenes were shot upside down."
We were all infatuated with the 2nd Mike Karr--Laurence Hugo who could do no wrong...even if he did kind of like all the attention from flirtatious Nicole Travis who simply wanted to compete with a woman as fine as Nancy Karr. Yet, Mike would never have left Nancy...

That was really good. Another example of what soaps should be.

It is great to see the second Mike Karr (Laurence Hugo). I have not seen him since I was a child in the 1960s. I am really in love with this man.
