Man, when i knew about the film i though it was done by a fucking sadist and grumpy son of a bitch. i never thought it was done by an innocent looking and respectful old man with a very funny atitude o_o.(sorry for my bad english)
He regrets the killing of those animals. He's even against it now. The time has past and there's nothing anyone can do about. Now it's time for forgiveness, it's not fair for people to keep bringing something up for someone who regrets what they did and has learned from it.

And whatever compelled him to have actual animals killed (I heard he grew up in the countryside so likely he didn't see a problem since they always killed animals for food anyway) he has expressed a bit or remorse over it since. Certainly one of the actors argued people eat pork so what made it shocking to shoot a pig on camera?
I find it funny how they spit on the man 'cause he killed a few animals for a great movie, lets all spit on Bear Grylls he kills animals for a shitty show!
It's kind of ironic that such a sweet, funny and charming man could direct movies as violent and disturbing as Cannibal Holocaust and House on the Edge of the Park.
@nekromistress He did come off as a kindly old man when I saw him at the FanExpo in Toronto. I heard out mostly about the directors he worked with since we all heard about Cannibal Holocaust. Hard to believe that he was so obsessed with directing a cannibal film that he actually had animals killed and argued loudly when an actress was offended of having her breasts exposed for the same movie. He certainly mellowed out more than Robert Kerman who I thought was full of it.
This is utterly fantastic.
