Any one knows what is the 'SilverSUN' black powder used on the thrusters (5:40)? They look like real reflective metal after being polished with the black powder. Nice! But I failed to find that in Google.
It is a pigment. I saw that this is same pigment of Mr.Metal color (Iron) in a certain web site. You seem to be able to get the same thing when you paint a test piece with iron of Mr.Metal Color and, after drying, scrape it.
its kinda graphite but... search on your local hobby shop a brand called MIG. those pigments work quite well, use the gun metal pigment for shinny metal look after apply in it and rubbing whit a cotton swab
I know you left this comment a LONG time ago, but you wanted to know what the black powder was at 5:40.
It's called "Kosutte Ginsan" and I've seen how it works in another video on YouTube. Basically, it's a chrome powder. You put a little onto a Q-tip, then rub the Q-tip onto whatever part you want. As you do, the powder will stick and become metallic. Then, the more you polish it, the shinier it gets.
Seek out "Gomenchaiii" here on YouTube. She has the video I mentioned earlier.
@crapmunky99 Thank you for filling us in on that hobby product and as for Kibo a.k.a. Gomenchaiii, she's an absolute sweetheart and a real catch for any Gunpla fan! :)
I'll check out HobbyLinkJapan first for this Kosutte Ginsan powder.
so inside his air brush is metallic powder with thinner..and the blue is on the gundam parts and once he sprayed the metallic powder/thinner onto the parts it shows up metallic blue right??
sorry i have to ask this much question its just that i want to do that to one of my gundam, so im trying to get enough info so that i wont screw up on the gundam
No, that's not it. Inside his airbrush is clear paint, paint thinner, and blue pearl powder. The powder doesn't appear blue when it's in its powder form or when it's mixed with the paint. Once it's sprayed onto the model, the powder will give off the blue color. Understand?
just bought this kit!!!!! hope i can do it justice!! goin to go for the realistic colour scheme
just before its destroyed by the NT-1!!

im sorry about this but what does he use to get such a nice chrome effect?

"Back flushing" your airbrush is NOT a good idea since it very easily can lead paint into the air channel (RUINS your airbrush)!!!

wtf did he just do to get that kind blue
SuperStreet04 3 years ago
Back it with black because blue is some what transpearent. That way because black is a very solid color, it makes the blue less transpearent.
