  • Ohh, I cannot stand this insufferable boor. What is it with Sth Australia ? They perpetually send us these prissy, sissy, strange, weird, creepy politicians .. no better example that this creep. He has said on ABC 24TV that he has NO friends on the opposite side of politics. Well, it surprises me that he has ANY FRIENDS at all. He has the personality, the charisma .. of .. CARDBOARD

  • ALTHOUGH I'M A CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIAN (Baptist), I no longer believe that the Bible teaches eternal torment or suffering. The Bible teaches eternal punishment, but it's not eternal torment. In my popular Internet article, TRADITIONAL DOCTRINE OF HELL EVOLVED FROM GREEK ROOTS, I explain how and why teaching of eternal torment entered early into Christianity and how Scriptures have been misinterpreted and taken out of context to support that teaching. ~Babu G. Ranganathan (B.A. theology/biology)

  • SCIENCE SHOWS THAT THE UNIVERSE could not have sustained itself eternally because of entropy (even in an open system). Einstein confirmed that space, matter, and time had a beginning! That beginning had to be supernatural because natural laws have no ability to bring the universe into existence from nothing. The supernatural cannot be proved by science but science points to a supernatural intelligence for the origin and order of the universe ~ HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM (Article)

  • EINSTEIN CONFIRMED that space and time are just as physical as matter. That's why space and time can be altered by gravity, and space produces particles. Einstein's equations show that the universe couldn’t be eternal. It had a beginning. Einstein believed, because of science, in the existence of God behind the origin and order of the universe. He didn't believe in a personal God like Christians do, but he did believe science pointed to the existence of an all powerful and intelligent Creator

  • NATURAL LIMITS TO EVOLUTION: Only evolution within "kinds" is genetically possible (i.e. varieties of dogs, cats, etc.), but not evolution across "kinds" (i.e. from worm to human). How did species survive if their vital structures, organs, reproductive system were still evolving? Read my Pravda Internet article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS! I discuss: Punctuated Equilibrium, "Junk DNA," genetics, mutations, natural selection, fossils, genetic and biological similarities between species.

  • NATURAL SELECTION DOESN'T PRODUCE ANYTHING. It can only "select" from what is produced that has survival value. If a variation occurs that helps a species survive, that survival is called being "selected." That's all it is. There's no conscious selection by nature. It's a passive process. Natural selection is a figure of speech. The term itself is a tautology. Natural selection only operates once there is life and reproduction, not before. Read my article: HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM.

  • APES ARE QUITE COMFORTABLE IN HOW THEY WALK, just as humans are quite comfortable in how they walk. Even a slight change in the position of a muscle or bone, for either, would be excruciatingly painful and would not be an advantage for survival. There's no hard evidence that humans evolved from ape-like creatures anymore than there's hard evidence that apes evolved from four-legged-pawed dog-like creatures. Read Internet article: MISSING LINKS THAT NEVER WERE.

  • GENETIC INFORMATION CANNOT HAPPEN BY CHANCE, so it's more logical to believe that genetic similarities between all forms of life are due to a common Designer who designed similar functions for similar purposes. It doesn't mean all forms of life are biologically related! Also, "Junk DNA" isn't junk. These non-coding segments of DNA have recently been found to be vital in regulating gene expression. Read my popular Internet article: HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM

  • WHAT IS SCIENCE? Science is knowledge based on observation. No one observed the universe coming by chance or by design, by creation or by macro-evolution. These are positions of faith. The issue is which faith science supports. Natural laws explain how an airplane or a cell works, but undirected natural laws cannot bring about either. Once there's a complete cell, the code/mechanisms exist to direct the formation of more cells, but how did the cell originate when there was no directing code.

  • Pyne is my MP. He makes me sick.

  • Don't teach creationism in our schools and I won't teach evolution in your church.

  • Wana shut up Creationist? Ask them how Different Races came about without Evolution?

  • @Mogley52 - Let's separate church and state. And then you and your chaplains can proselytise on your own time, not to children on the public purse!

  • Creationists in Australian schools? Shoot the bastards.

  • If the Chaplains preach in school to children then they are bastards..... If chaplains truly do believe in hell, and don't try to save kids from it by preaching then they are bastards... Either way, they are bastards.... Get them out!!!

Lets rely on counselors and science thank you very much.

  • Harry Potter created the whole shebang

  • "I don't think the purpose of the chaplains is to proselytize in schools"

Yeah - you are never going to get a minister of the church doing that to the captive children he has access to, are you? (sarcasm alert)

  • You do not appoint Shamans and Witch Doctors instead of Qualified Doctors and support professionals, just because they cost less to operate. Counsellors are the right people to deal with the future of this country. Appointing Chaplains to do such duties makes the difference between an unqualified and inexperienced midwife delivering the future of the nation instead of a Gynecologist. What is this The medieval age?

  • Idiot is not even hiding just how blatantly awful his argument is. A shoulder to cry on does not automatically mean a religious leader. He couldn't help himself with a dig at the Malay situation.

  • In the matter of church and state you have to do one of the following. Include some religions which is discriminatory, include all religion which is impossible or just keep them entirely separate so that all are equal. Really unless your willing to say screw minorities there is only one option.

  • Man.. Heaters are gonna heat.. Preachers are going to preach.. It's pretty simple.

Make this an after school program or switch it to actual counsellors trained in the complex issues kids go through or scrap it.

  • Assumptions politicians must make (wrongly) if they support the NSCP:

    1. Knowledge of the bible is, in itself, a legitimate qualification in Psychology.

    2. Following the Christian religion, specifically, makes chaplains better equipped than anybody else to give children advice about how to live their lives.

    3. In spite of the first 2 assumptions, the advice given by chaplains will be completely secular, and free of any religious bias.

    Logical disconnect much?

  • If chaplains are not there to proslytise, then why are they almost exclusively chosen on the basis of their religious beleifs? If the're not allowed to be relgious, then why insist they are?

My issue is not with the behaviour of these rabid evangelicals (although it is terrifying), but with that fact they are chosen above properly qualified individuals in the first instance.

  • Let lose the pitbull!

  • What a Douche bag...go fuck yourself Pyne....

  • they should fund councillors not chaplains if they want kids to get support, end of conflict

  • "I don't think that the purpose of the chaplains is to proselytize in schools"

Then what the hell do you think they're for, you shiny-suit-wearing shyster? She just told you there's reports of the promotion of creationism!

It's easy to spot the theist in this video, isn't it?

  • @EdwardHowton

Yeah it seems like proselytizing IS the point, otherwise they would have secular councilors like they do here in the US.

  • @TheNakedAtheist I'd like just one of those half-competent wannabe journalists to ask "So you'd be fine with a muslim chaplain, then?"

The minute he says no the truth will be out for all to see. I hope that at least comes up during the trial.

  • If their role is to offer emotional support and not proselytise then they should have hired trained youth counselors who have actually gone through the process of getting qualified in that field. These Chaplin have no such qualification and as such it is actually quite dangerous to have untrained people doling out advice on a subject they are completely ignorant of.
