@burningduck14 it goes where the battery sits. They are easy with the eBay bolt on kits. My supercharger kit was scratch buily and much more difficult to assemble.
@wopath i been wanting to super charge my probe. it's a 4 cylinder 2.0 and i know it will have to go where tha battery is stationed ..but where would you relocate tha battery?
@burningduck14 the performanceprobe website is a good forum if you want to get how-to's and other helpful info on how to build/mod these :) Sick supercharger, way to rock the 93
hi mate, nice car, im in the uk and have a probe v6 turbo. for all of you thinking you can run high boost on a stock engine, beleive me you cant, i had my engine internals upgraded when i fitted the turbo kit and is capable of running 650bhp on the t70 turbo. i do prefer the whine of the supercharger though, sounds awesome mate, mine sounds rough as it has a side exit exhaust on the front bumper.
Funny, I've been running boost on two of my PGTs consistently for the past 8 years, both are stock engines. My wife's Turbo runs 6-8 PSI and has 250,000 miles, 80K of them boosted. My Supercharged PGT runs 10-12 PSI and has 135,000 miles, 50K of them boosted. The factory KL can take boost when using proper engine management.
it does handle the boost but theres no point in boosting a stock engine cos you wont get your moneys worth out of it. since having my engine rebuilt with better parts, new engine management and clutch and flywheel its been like a different car.
The bumper was custom, as was the rest of the set-up. NOVI 1000 centrifugal supercharger, non-contained, 10 PSI. Stand-alone EMS, and all taken away by an idiot in a SUV in the Wal-Mart Parking lot 3 years ago.
The engine in the car currently is a KL-03 engine, 13x,xxx miles. I "had" a KL-ZE in it but between the two ..... for some reason .... the DE responds much better to the boost curve of the supercharger compared to the ZE. So when the opportunity presented itself, I switched. ZE's love Boost, my wife has a ZE with a T3/4 hybrid at 6 pounds and her car is very fun to drive. But the Supercharger and the KL-03 just make the car awesome.
That could either be really noisy HLAs which is remedied with frequent oil changes using a good oil (Mobil 1 Synthetic is our perennial favorite ) ..... or it is a loose timing belt slapping the inside of the timing belt cover. The tensioner goes bad and the belt goes slack. This will need addressed before it jumps timing and leaves you on the side of the road. There will be no engine damage on the 2.5L engine, but a tow bill is in your future left unchecked.
hey if you know a little bit about these cars, you know you got the 2 VRIS solenoids behind your engine and rigth next to them is another solenoid that that directs a little tube from the throthle body to that solenoid and then to the gas tank canister, what happens if that solenoid does not work??
That is the charcoal canister solenoid. It is actually a Purge control solenoid that allows the accumulated charcoal canister vapors to be introduced into the intake tract and burned during normal engine operation thus reducing the emission of of unburned Hydrocarbons into the atmosphere. The PCME checks for it during the first 3 seconds of engine operation or when TEN and GND are tripped in the diagnostic box with a jumper and if the solenoid is not present then the CEL is thrown for code 26.
The PCME takes no remedial action if 26 is thrown, and it is not memorized in teh non-volatile memory, whereas when the engine is shut off, the code is not retained.
thanks for the previous info, got another question, when the ecm is trowing a code wich i think because the o2 sensor is broken,i guess it takes remedial acction,is it possible for the pcm to dissable the vris solenoids?,not necessarily assuming that the fault is caused by the o2 sensor.
No, the VRIS are not inactivated by the PCM for any reason. They are checked for presence within the first 3 seconds of engine operation. Their resistance should be 12-16 ohms, if that checks out then it is a vacuum issue.
i have an RSX-S turbo getting 254whp on about 6.5-7psi. The stock KLDE is only 164hp or about 134whp. I mean getting over about 220whp with 10psi seems like alot
The pure wonderment of "Teh Interweb" allows you, if you so choose, to "search" for related topics all across the world. In which case if you were to do so you would find that many Probe/MX-6/626/MX-3/Millenia owners are running Supercharged as well as Turbocharged setups on completely stock (and sometimes Junkyard sourced/used)engines with pleasant results. 300whp 300wtq @ 10psi is commonplace on the turbo setups.
To clarify, this is my old car, which was ran into in a parking lot and totalled. The orange one in my videos is my new car with the same system on it, but with better engine management.
The engine in the car currently is a KL-03 engine, 13x,xxx miles. I "had" a KL-ZE in it but between the two ..... for some reason .... the DE responds much better to the boost curve of the supercharger compared to the ZE. That IC is simply huge for a supercharger. Nice job - a lot of people forget SC's like IC's too. The bumper isn't bad either - something a little different without looking rice-tastic. Overall a job well done.
Actually the reading on my laptop now puts IAT(Intake Air Temps) around 5-10° above ambient. Before the intercooler the IAT read well over 260° during a pull through all the gears. Many people underestimate the capability of a supercharger to heat up air. This one is no exception. I thank you for the complement.
yo bro i got a probe too i bugt it mainly to save gas money now that ive seen ucan trick it out good i was thinking of droppign a supercharger in it i got a 4 cylinder 2.2l
I built it myself. I pieced together all teh parts from eBay and other sources, mocked it up on an spare engine in my garage, fabricated the bracket out of plywood and then had a machine shop water jet the parts out of steel, and then bolted it all on. I built one with a Clutched M62, but the Novi 100's whistle/whine is just so much sweeter.
I have the turbo kit on my wife's 1994 PGT, and I will admit it is an easier install, almost bolt-on even, I prefer the Supercharger over the turbo. The turbo seems civilized compared to the way this car behaves. WOPATH is me, there is no company. I fabricated the kit myself and turned all the wrenches in the back yard.
Are you local to Maryland.. I live in clinton, and go to the MIR.. I plan on getting another probe gt.. i might need you to install the turbo kit, if not, could you reference me to another experience probe enthusiast..
I'd rather get the Turbo kit for the PGT, turbo always beats supercharge BUT NICE PGT DUDE, looks good and sound good, BTW are WOPATH in the yellow pages
how much would it cost to turbo/supercharge/intake/exhaust/ect. a probe gt
