  • This is what happens when you mix pop rocks with pepsi at the same time. It was still funny though.

  • Oh my gosh. Have you seen that "Mr.Bubbles" ad? It's SO stupid. It's a comic about stupid bubble bath.

  • I used to read those advertisements in comics for confederate money, sea monkeys, x-ray specs etc. I never ordered anything but always wondered lol!

    Great vid.

  • Zipster this is a sad honest thing to share . I am sorry you went through such hell. you should have sued them. but you know what I like the best is that you laugh at the mess of it all. you have such a honest genuine heart. Yep I am in love with your humor with LIFE! Have wonderful day . oh by the way Happy Holidays. My friend!

  • why does he do that thing with his hand at the beggining

  • @saycheese121 It's called waving!

  • Funniest video ever!!!! I was laughing soooooo hard!

  • OMG Zipster! You had me rolling on the floor, I swear that I just couldn't stop laughing, my sides hurt. I don't remember the last time I laughed so damn hard. Yeah, I remember the backs of the comic book ads. They got me too, dumb kids LOL

  • @awarenessable Glad I brought back some memories! That stuff is CRAP!!!

  • @Zipster08 Wow! never in a million years would I have thought you would reply my comment. Thank you so much for taking the time to do so, cause I know you all are so very busy (you, Loco Mama, and all the rest of the gang). Anyway wishing you continued success.

  • I remember those ads ,but never ordered anything from them. They had everyhting you could think of though. Stink bombs, Itching powder, etc. I think if I had ordered something it probably would have been the x-ray specs.

  • Name one child that reads comics. None, because kids don't read comics. Nor should they. Comics today are written for adults. Every Wed when the new comics come out go to a comic shop, you will seen many grown men and women buying comics.

  • @comicbookfanboy lol they shouldnt read comic books but lets buy them xbox 360s and allow them to play games about killing ppl and stealing cars. did you think about that?

  • @comicbookfanboy i use to read comic books when i was a kid, loved them most of them where good.

  • @comicbookfanboy

How the hell do you know that no kid in the world reads comics? I'm 14 and I have a collection of 1000+ comics.

    Your logic makes no sense.

There are titles more specifically for kids, like Archie, Bone, stuff like that.

Get your facts straight before you go making statements like that.

  • @finderskeeperscomics

    Love you Zipster,

    Annister', aka tubeeorrnott.., Anni;)

  • Well we are two peas in a pod... I'm not allowed to watch infomercials any more. Love you.

  • Oh when I was a kid I wanted some sea monkeys so badly, and also wanted to try that tooth whitener "used by all the stars!"

Thank goodness I didn't have any money! LOL ((hugs))

  • omg! you should tell more stories about the things you got from the back of comic books!

  • zipster, i watch your videos in the dark with no sound, its such a sensation. your face just.... flows well, like a river

  • i LOVE YOU

  • In a sad world such as ours it's wonderful to have people like you. You make me laugh.

  • HAHAHAHA i guess u did aot of adventuring when u were a child

  • Have you heard about the monkies in teacups?

  • I haven't!

  • That's hilarious..and I know it''s true...I did the same kinda things..LOL...thanks for the memories

    Doc

  • I have some old comic books..i'm gonna see what I can find.

  • Yep, that crap would just suck me in too! LOL! Thanks, Grams

  • Do you know why you always had to wait for 8 weeks for the ordr to arrive, zip? The people mailing it to you needed all that time to recuperate after laughing their backs to shreds because someone was actually so stupid to buy this shit. I did it myself ones. Bought a bar and my partner disappeared with the money. Took me 8 weeks to realise that too.

  • Sad....but really FUNNY!!

  • the FUNNY part depends on which side of the deal you were at that time. :)Meanwhile I learned that our subconscious mind already knows 10 seconds before doing something or taking a decision, that we are going to do it. That actually implies that I am a very dumb person, if it takes me 8 weeks to realise that I was being double crossed.

  • Funny Jigsaw puzzle! We got those darn sea monkeys too, what a rip.

  • For sure!

  • Hey Zipster, Caught your first Blog Tv show tonight. I was Ramdam111. ( Don't know why I didn't just use my You Tube Name. ) anyway, pretty cool to see you out there. I have only been on blog tv since Jan 12th myself. and broadcasted five times, but anyway, look forward to your Video's out here, and I already subcribed to you on Blog Tv...

  • THANKS!!!

  • yeah sea monkeys were no doubt the biggest disappointment of mine too! And I am 28 almost 29 and they were in the back of Archie comic books when I was growing up...but they cost a whole lot more now days ;)

  • You're such a cutie pie!

    xo's

  • I love your stories, and your delivery is perfect. I am sick tonight, and you cheered me up. Once from a magazine I sent in for several coupons for free Clairol hair dye, and I ordered Sable Brown. I dyed my mother's hair, grandfather, great aunt, and family friend. All but my mom had white hair. When their hair started growing back in, they were a site for sore eyes. My great aunt said she looked like a skunk.

  • man o man!!! your funny!!! this video made me laugh till i cried!!!

    I SUBSCRIBED!!!

  • Glad you got a kick out of it!!

  • Haha if only this would have came out when I was young and didn't buy all that useless shit.

  • dude u scare me...

  • Don't watch me anymore!!

  • That's the first time in a long time i was literally laughing OUT LOUD!!!!!!!!! I was an avid cominc book collector and can relate. You're the best Zip!!!!!!!

  • Glad to give you a laugh!

  • Nobody tells a story better than you Zipster! That was hilarious.

  • Thanks!

  • Those Where The Best Pages Of The Comics.

    Oh, the sea monkey's!!!

    And, cotton candy...

Of course, the Classic RCA Label.

    (I remember all this stuff)

    You Make Me Laugh!!! :D

  • I'm glad!

  • so funny, so true,i remember looking at the ads and saying wow..

thankfully i never could afford them.lol

  • This video was awesome !! Super funny !!

  • Thanks!!

  • lol, you crack me up...ripped a hole in it!

  • It DID!

  • zip you're not a douchebag!

    but i lol'd at that.

  • Good to hear!

  • hahaha your laugh is so fukin hilarious just about made piss myself hahahaha!!!

  • Then I did my job!

  • Gawd! I bet you were a cute little guy! Your Momma must've loved you to pieces!!

  • She still does!!

  • Never forget the hugs & kisses! There's nothing like it when your boy gives you hugs and smoochies!

  • Never was really into all that! Mostly just liked the ads at the end!!

  • as a recording engineer, that cracked me the FUCK up! T/Z you rock!!!

  • I totally thought I could start a label!

  • I had tons of comics but never even noticed the ads. I was really, really into the stories. I'm glad you reminded me cuz I have some bizarre ones I might want to try to sell on ebay. I remember the RCA logo, thingy.

  • Love you, sweetie!

  • I bought seamonkeys too, and the eggs didn;t even hatch :( I was devistated.

  • Yeah, that happened a lot!

  • Sea Monkeys!!! ROFL!! We kept waiting to see the king and queen and that sea monkey that was "chillin"", floating around on his back...hahaha! Thanks for reminding me about the sea monkeys!! We got them out of the "SunSet" catalog along with some other "dandy" things...It turns out it was a great name for the catalog company due to by the time the sun set, that crap was finished....hahaha!

  • I know!!

  • I ordered a magnet set thing from the little Bazooka Joe comic that comes in the bubble gum. It took about 2 or 3 months to arrive also. This was about 30 something years ago. It was shit also. Love the bubble gum though!

  • Oh, that bubble gum!!

  • my friend Annette (40 yrs old) insists her sea monkeys had faces and hands - so now we calll her the Jane Goodall of sea monkeys

  • That's a riot!!

  • omg u r the most funniest man alive

  • lmao thats great

  • Thanks!

  • Oh yeah. They also sold the really small cameras and the buzzers that you hold in your hand to shock people

  • Yup, I remember that shit!!

  • I totally remember that stuff . I always wanted the x-ray glasses.

  • I remember in the back of comics that I read was an advertisement to "earn money" off of selling junk to strangers. Something like for every 5 items you sold (at about 25 buck a piece) you would earn 2$ etc. I almost tried it but something stopped me, most likely my sane mother lmfao and I am very glad that she did.

  • I made my first million selling greeting cards to relatives and neighbors...NOT!!

  • The Johnson Smith Company always had a full page ad in the back of them. I remember ordering alot of junk from them. The xray glasses, stink bombs, joybuzzers, whoppee cushions, gum that turned people teeth black.

  • Are you drinking? Funny story!

  • Haha! I remember sea monkeys! Mine were clouded by a fog of green scum after about a week. I gave up hope and poured them out the window.

  • Great video, Zipster! I guess your experiences was one way to learn a fact of life at an early age; you get what you pay for, or if it seems to be too good to be true it probably is. Yeah, the stuff at the back of kids magazines was crap but selling teeth whitener to a kid, getting his hopes up, seems a bit cruel. Thanks for sharing!

  • My pleasure!

  • Zip Unfortunately I understood everything you were saying. hehe. You're cute! Hugs!

  • Thanks!!

  • Haha, sea monkeys.

  • Yeah, some monkeys!! NOT!!!

  • haha that was really cute, and made me laugh out loud =)

  • Thanks so much!

  • I remember those. My parents would never let me order any of it. Said it was crap. lol

  • I didn't tell my parents!!

  • That's my Zippy. A rebel without training wheels. :-)

  • Ha ha ha!!!

  • I havet read a paper comic sense i was 12, and they had ads in them and for teh cheap prices i thought well this could be great im not rich...nope i got took for the ride and never did it again.

    thank you digital comics!

  • I too bought stuff from the back of comics. I got the Xray specs and the Sea Monkeys. And something else too... like a pocket knife or something. Yea, I was very dissappointed about the Xray specs and my Sea Monkeys never worked correctly. They strarted stinking after a day or two and the water got all moldy.

  • Ha ha...same happened to me!!

  • Haha, this was one of your best zip. And yeah the stuff from the back of comic books is worse than the stuff from a kids meal.

  • Thanks so much!!

  • Love this video.

    I missed the storytelling =)

  • Thanks!!

  • Haha Zip, loving your videos! You're simply adorable! :)

The dog with the gramophone thingy. Isn't that the HMV logo? I can remeber it from my dads old records.

  • That's the RCA records logo!!

  • And I'm almost positive that the dog's name was Nipper!?

  • Oh those things are the best! I remember ordering that kinda' stuff too! My sister and I saved FOREVER for this camera that was supposed to be like a polaroid. Never did come...LoL!

So that's always my excuse when my kids ask for the stuff in the back of the comic books. IT'S STILL THERE!

  • "Im such a douche bag! Ok. Im not a douche bag, I was just a dumb kid." Comment of the day baby. You're one cool cat Zipster08. Laugh is hilarious too!

  • Thanks so much!!

  • ...My dad once told me about a girl ordering a device out of one that was something that would if used would increase her breast size... They sent her a " Picture of a Damn Hand"...

  • HA HA!! Gotta read the fine print!

  • Zip, that's priceless. Brings back so many memories. Those damn xray glasses.....

  • I hear ya!!

  • my comic books will help pay my kids way through college

  • Awesome!!

  • ahahaha i remember all this ,the real hot gum ,soap that turned black after u ,use it all kinds of good shit ,wat happened to the good old days, my sister had the glasses and record thing too lmfao

  • Those were the days!

  • shopping in comic books can be so disappointing ha-ha!

  • Oh god I hope you don't read your spam Zip >.>

    Peace

  • I read EVERYTHING!

  • I think this has to be one of my very favorite of your blogs. Nice to know I wasn't the only Dork that looked at Archie comics.

Hugs...(~~)8 Big ice storm here today so drink the coffee while I still have electricity!!

  • That same storm is heading my way! Glad you liked the vlog!!

  • As a kid, I wuz a sucker for all that. Got the sea horses... never got them to "come to life." X-ray glasses... naturallly.. I even sent away for 1001 Free Things. Since mail was 3 cents I sent for a ton. Are name was on every mailing list... mom got junk mail for years after I was grown and gone. The worst was a "tea cup dog." Lusted over the "Tea Cup Dog." Saved, send, got a dead dog. Shit.

  • Yikes...DEAD DOG??

  • Hey! Your eyelid looks all better! :)

  • It is, thanks!!

  • Why would they advertise tooth whitener to kids in comic books? :s

  • For kids like me, I guess!

  • I was really dissapointed in Sea Monkeys when I first got those! I really believed that King and Queen picture was the real deal. So unfair!

  • Hey, me too!

  • Look at this, we can remove comments now that we leave on someone elses channel. I noticed this morning that someone had removed a comment from my channel and figured that YT had introduced a new feature.

  • For real?? I didn't notice!

  • I always wanted to buy the sea monkeys but my parents would not let me. I remember a lot of the stuff you are talking about. Pen-pals are another one that I remember.

  • I had one in Hawaii when I was a kid!

  • Oh this is priceless! I never bought anything from the back cover of a comic book, but it took me thirty-six years to find out what the futz those sea monkeys were all about... Thanks for clearing that up for me. I just now had a thought, Zip! You should start your own encyclopedia :)

  • Ha ha...you're too funny!

  • He could call it Zippo-Pedia.

  • Ha ha!!

  • LOL I know what you're talking about except my parents wouldn't let me buy anything out of there. So..I guess in a way that was very very good. ;-) Great story though, love how you can always make me smile, thanks zip! Love ya xo Liana

  • I never told my mom I was buying this stuff.

  • zipster! i love sea monkeys the turn into little germs. my dad threw them away -_-

  • Your dad was right!

  • I'm glad I'm not the only sucker! X ray spex and sea monkeys! I thought the first time I got them, they were just lemons! So I bought them again!!

By the way, whatever happened to your spread in the New Yorker?

  • It was for their website. I sent them a clip, but they never used it!! ;-(

  • I love every single video the Zipster makes ... always hanging out for the next one :)
