I think it's a little more complex than that -- the scene itself has changed drastically since these guys first started playing. Gone are the days when people came out to shows as a way to connect. Now a lot of people would rather sit at home and watch YouTube and Myspace than interact with the bands in person. Technology should be used in order to complement personal interaction, not as a substitute. That's my take on it anyway, from things I've heard several old school punks say.
