Darkthrone are a black metal band (and they released three of the best black metal albums ever: Transylvanian Hunger, A Blaze in the Northern Sky and Under a Funeral Moon), but they have been playing this kind of music since the late 90s. It's called Crust Punk, and while it's awesome, it is not black metal. You should listen to the song Skald Av Satans Sol if you wanna hear Darkthrone's black metal.

This is one of the reasons Darkthrone are so fucking great: Maybe Darkthrone aren't writing the best drum parts, guitar solos or anything like that, but they sure as hell can write some great fucking riffs. FOAD, Canadian Metal, Hanging Out In Haiger, Dark Thrones And Black Flags, Raised On Rock, and pretty much every other Darkthrone song has fucking amazing riffs!
