@stotzing Well spotted :-) I should really have sung it through the vocoder, but when it comes to singing, I am scared. :-o I need a soundproofed room where I can sing through a vocoder without anyone hearing my terrible voice!
I really like the track!!! Do you have your tracks anywhere on the web, I would like to listen to your music! You should find a label or something seriously... your music is a couple of galaxies better than much of the music that is being released, and I don;t mean lady gaga, I'm comparing it to some good music
@loonaya Really? Thanks :-) You can have a look at my "web site" (just some web space really). AFAIK these comments don't allow URLs, so I'll describe it thus: tonyglobe with the usual com ending, then a slash and then productions
In there you'll find various mp3s of mine. I seem to have lost the source audio from this video when I changed over my computer recently but if I find it I'll add it there.
@horganator Yes I'm serious, I really like it! :) Thanks for the website, I checked the tracks, and those tracks are really good as well! I like them all, but my personal favourites (aside from WestEndGirls which I heard on your XL sound demo) are funkymoody and formoviesaudio. Funkymoody really has an incredible atmosphere (or mood, hence the name :)) Weirdo is great too, but like I said I like 'em all! Thanks again for the link (or like in this case a good descripition of it :-) and make more!
HI, you have very nice reviews in here. I want to change my old syntth you think should I buy a micro korg or a MicroKorgXL? i'lll wait your aNSWER Thanks...
@sarabitcha They're both great little synths. I'd recommend them to anyone who wants a compact but versatile synth ans isn't bothered about the small keys. As for which one, I guess you've seen the video on my channel comparing the two?
Let me know if you have any specific questions on them.
Also, I'm currently testing the Novation Ultranova (video to follow soon), which could be another option to consider.
I'm new to synths and am deciding to get either the original microkorg or the XL. I've read that the XL has greater polyphony, but does that really make a difference to a beginner that is still learning to play? If I do get the original, will I eventually feel limited by the lower polyphony once I gain more expertise? Not sure what to do...
@supermonsterdeluxe The original microKORG can play up to four notes at once, while the XL can play up to eight. I've never found it a problem, but then I'm no virtuoso pianist.
Great videos, both sound demos and the MK vs XL. Now, I'm no musician but always loved analog synth sounds, specially the works from Keith Emerson, Ken Hensley, Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk and their kind. I'm thinking of getting an MK as I don't like the XL's "cheap" plastic looks, though its better mic, USB and enhanced vocoder are pluses. Which one would you recommend for somebody interested in investigating synth sounds (i.e. a newbie: myself)? Thanks!
@DeskSuperbiker If "investigating" is the key word, then the original would be best. The original makes it much easier to learn how synth sounds are created because you can edit the various parameters in a more hands-on fashion.
Editing sounds from the front panel of the XL sometimes feels as if you're doing it blind, because you don't have the grid of parameters in view to cross-reference. Instead you have to wind through loads of settings on the one-line LCD display.
I watched the comparison video and the XL demo, and for some reason the regular microkorg appeals to me more... It's probably the retro look and sound.
I still don't know if getting one is a good idea, even though you can obviously do a lot with it.
Do you think this would be a good tool to make various styles of music?
@namdamyo The output of the original is very electronic sounding, but you could use it in all sorts of other musical styles. It just depends on what you do with it and what other instruments you pair it with.
@horganator How about with a guitar or bass? I looked at what artists use it on the wikipedia page, and a lot of them I know of and really like! I take it this would be a step closer to making similar music.
Also, great job on the music and filming in this vid! (I forgot to tell you in the original post)
Video feedback is so much fun. In this case it was a bit tricky as the cable I had was really short, and I had one hand holding the keyboard and the other holding the camera.
I like the organic nature of it. Probably a result of growing up on 70s pop videos :o)
@id4rk2 Excellent. I dont think you'll be disappointed. Korg has just announced a new Electribe MX with an SD card slot, so it might be worth looking out for that one - it might also mean some good deals on the original Electribe models.
patsy kensit - i´m not scared
