i heard from one of my friends that this movie was almost gonna be rated R, mainly becuase of this scene and the plaincrash scene, which were both exceptionally violent and disturbing for a pg13 movie, blah a bunch of bullshit, this movie and those scenes werent that violent, even if it did show a train ramming over 100 people into the ground, and showed a scene where there are more than a 100 people eaither dead or on fire and screaming in pain, they werent that bad tho :)

Something like that happened IRL right here in NYC in '91. A drunk train operator was at the controls of a No. 4 express train, and it jumped a switch at high speed outside of 14th St-Union Square.

Though the train didn't plow through a crowded platform. Trains in NYC aren't governed to go quite that fast.

I was talking about the 1991 Union Square Wreck that happened IRL, which was probably what this scene was based off of. The train collided with the vertical I-beams in the tunnel and some cars folded upon themselves like Coke cans, but it never made it to the station platform. Five people died then. 81 die in the film.
