  • Back in the mid-80's every high school class in Germany read that book in the "German Classes". Interesting to see that it or the film are still read & seen by kids today.

On the other hand of course the subject of becoming a drug addict in teenage years is more common today than it was back then...

  • our little girl

  • this is some freaky shit...but i want to watch it still

  • Wow I can't believe people were allowed to watch this in school. I hadn't even heard of it, only until recently.

  • this movie was so sad. after seeing this i wanted to punch her boyfriend DEvtev or whatever the fuck in tha face.

  • @thatonehippie87 why is that? do you actually think that detlev has fault on what happened to christiane?!

  • @LuisaLsTB

no, i just think its mean was that he was cheating on her....in a way. and all the lying, if he really loved her, he would of just been doing what he was doing for just money...y'know?

  • @thatonehippie87 they were teenagers, they believed they were in love and maybe they truly were, but you got to understand that when you start being a junkie there's nobody else around you, you only care about yourself.. it's sad. that's why junkies end up alone, because they pull away all the people who used to care about them. detlev and christiane were both junkies and it was obvious that they wouldn't be able to make their relationship last, that doesn't mean they weren't in love.

  • @thatonehippie87 it only proves, that drugs ruin someone's life and they destroy love.

  • @thatonehippie87 i get it, that you think so. but the thing is: it's so damn hard stop being a junkie.. they didn't think about the money, they thought about how much heroin they would be able to buy with thei money, they got from the 'dirty' jobs. they were completely dependents on drugs and you got to uderstand that even when you love someone, sometimes isn't enough, sometimes you just don't have the strenght that is required.. its sad, but nothing but the truth

  • great movie

  • Thieves Like Us-Drugs in my body.

  • I discovered this movie in 1998 in a video store that had a lot of old and obscure titles. I thought it was amazing. But nobody I knew had seen it. Not even the film buffs.

  • yeah child prostitution ended in the 80 in germany

it continiues in from east europe over india to indonesia

  • @BlueBerryFairy1

And in 2011 in Italy... Berlusconi anyone?

  • @novembrine1 yeah but that girl was 18 ( what doenst make it less worse) in asia there are little girlsand boys like 9 or 10 raped every day

  • @BlueBerryFairy1

Nope man, u heard wrong: Silvio Berlusconi is currently under trial for illegal sex with a minor prostitute. She was 16 when he approached her first..

Regarding Asian children, well, so sad... at least it's not "first world" there, and it's not prime ministers doing that (that we know of)...

  • fuckkkkkkkkkkkkk that song of david bowie.. remember me of the good times 666'

  • wir kindern vom bahnhof zoo trailer deutsch if you look for that you find this :D

  • which name has the song in the backround?

actually it was the title song of the film.

    But i can't find it.

And the movie is absolutly good. But you had to read the book before ,

i seen the film for three times , and i only understand after the book.

  • @MiiSSLUiiSAAA the song in the background is "David Bowie-heroes"....i read and watched this film too!

  • this movie is based on a true story :D

  • lol i watched this movie at school not so bad :)

  • I think its a great book and a good movie.

Not that I enjoyed watching it but its a good example for those people who think about doing things like that.

Its horribe that Christiane F is now back in the drug scene and again addicted to heroin...

  • @gfnyc1 she is still alive has a son but she has a relapse over and over agian..and in 2008 they take her her son away..=(

  • @LilLintschi

Natja Brunckhorst plays Christiane's role. You mean her son was taken away(Natjas'???) Did Natja Brunckhorst experiment with drugs in real life??? Natja B. has a 20-year-old daugher,Emma,so I guess maybe you are talking about the real Christiane F.?Thanks in advance!

  • @wannaknowit No I mean the real Christiane F. ...she had a son but he was taken away from her because she´s taking drugs again..=(..I think Christiane F. is 45 jeahrs old now...

  • @LilLintschi

oh i see..OK ...Natja Brunckhorst is 44 years old now...actually the same age as Christiane F.!:)

  • Soon i will be readed the book hmm does somebody knows is the film good or not?

  • hey guys, this movie is awesome, can anybody tell me some alternative movies? or similar to this one? i like movies where the basic theme are drugs...

    P.S.: I'm not a drug addict =))

  • @TranquillDreams requiem for a dream.. fear and loathing in las vegas.. blow.. and lammbock but it is a german movie soo i don't know if you understand ;D

  • I think the book is quite impressive and gives children an insight into what could happen whereas the movie is idolising drugs a wee in my mind.

when we watched that movie in class a few years ago some people seemed to be fascinated in a rather positive way.

they should show real docos about drug addictition at school instead, that would be far better. they even could invite people who went through that hell themselves to tell about their addiction.

  • I live in America, and we are watching this at German class.

Why? Because the teacher thinks it is good for our grammar xD

  • @OnlineIsland

your teacher thinks its good for your grammer ? XD lol ... So now you know the important word in german like "fixerbraut, Spießer ,schlauchen,Alter usw.....

Most of the text is in german teenie slang XD so is sound a little vulgar ;)

  • @7sternschnuppe7

    He doesn't care.

We are teens, wee need to learn teenie slang :)

  • @OnlineIsland

So do you can speak german good or not so good ? I come from germany ;)

  • @SixFeetUnder4ever

    Hmm, i can read it...

  • @OnlineIsland Achso das ist cool ;)

  • @OnlineIsland Well, I'm a German, and I think it was a clever idea to show you the movie so you get a feel for the German grammar, as, in order to attract a broader audience, the actors mostly speak (colloquial) Standard German coupled with a touch of "Berlinese" and of course "junkie slang". Additionally, the message: You don't need t be a hero to cope with life, and it is worth the trouble to experience it without drugs. Life is a wonder anyway ...

  • @OnlineIsland

Chances r ur teacher is a former junkie!!

  • @OnlineIsland ya du spreiken die deutch nicht gut

  • i had seen this movie in school when i was 12 . but i'm from germany and we had watched the real version !! terrible but a really good movie !! :)

  • couldent agree more...

  • I think this movie could learn young people about drugs and their consequences.

  • @verax17 Books are always better.

  • Nice one. Still have to see this one, but I'm avoiding the US English dubbed version. Roger Ebert said whoever New World Pictures got did a horrible job. I'm sure the original German version is widely available. And David Bowie too, yea! Thanks for posting!

  • We had to watch this at school when we were about 13. Was a good idea as it gave most of us a wake up call.

  • You got to watch R rated movies at school??

We were made to watch The Day After when I was in grade 3, and I had nightmares about nuclear holocaust for some time afterwards!

  • I think they were trying to "scare us straight", which reminds me that was a doco about juves getting sent to prison. Remember that?

It was a shock to see it during school hours no doubt. We did end up watching R rated movies at school...at night though (boarding school) as the housemasters didnt give a shit what we watched as long as it kept us out of trouble :)

  • Not sure about that prison doco. Doesn't sound very nice though!!

I just remembered that we were also made to watch this horrible US doco about car accidents in high school. I think it was made in the 1960s or something, and it showed smashed up cars and dead bodies being retrieved, including small children and decapitated bodies! Totally inappropriate and I can still vividly recall scenes from it.

  • Prison doco was called Scared Straight (1978) worth a watch for sure.

Yeah I remember that car accidents doco! I'm having trouble remembering the name... for some reason I think The band Normal did a song with some of the clips in the video. Song was Warm Leatherette... wait I've just found it. Was this it?

Do a search for WARM LEATHERETTE - SCRATCH VIDEO

  • @AussieRoadshow that car accident docu was most likely "Signal 30" or "Highways of Agony", both of which can also be found on youtube

  • Hah I thought I was the only one who got nightmares the day after The Day After ;)

  • @AussieRoadshow

I still have nuclear nightmares each time I see the numbers of nuclear warheads in the word.

It has more the duoubled sinceTthe Day After.

Just like Drug use is still on the rise.

Movies show the problems, but it seems WE do not solve them.

  • @AussieRoadshow in my class we watched scary movie1 i was 11 years old in 6th class.

  • @bringbackthemusic are you in the U.S.???

  • drugs are bad,mkaaaaaaaay?!?

  • im watchng this on google video..well in stages.
