  • music has went down hill ... now we only have artist that do it for the money not the art...I hate to think that all arts i.e., movie actors, musicians, comedians, etc.

  • loopy lou

  • I loved the Velvet Underground in the 60s but never forgave Lou Reed for Transformer and latterly thought he was a bit of a charletan and that John Cale was probably the talent in the Velvets. But this version kind of captures the pathos and desparation and sadness of heroin addiction better than the original Velvets versions did. Not enough to rehabilitaye the old phoney though!

  • Wouldn't change a thing. This is my favorite version of the song. Some of you youngesters out there who love the lip synching stars of the day who would sound like a dying goat without heavy studio processing will never know true talent.

  • Amazing song ! A man who plays rock and roll and takes no drugs, is as the businessman who doesn't like money !!!!!! sorry for my english. At a moment of the life the heroin avoids the suicide. We have to have the will to take it moderately otherwise it is a suicide also. It's my life, and I have 45 years !

  • OK! But Sorry, For me the Lyrics is Brilliant, But The Presentation ist from an old Man. It's not not the Reed I like. He's absoluterly toro old für this song. I think he has to stop to make music. Nothing ist new and if you listen to loutallica LULu it's incredbile BAD. Where is is his genius? it's gone and gone and gone.

  • mi si rizzano i peli dall'emozione...

  • great version!

  • love it when people try and tell the author how he should present his creation..

Lou sings HIS songs as he is feeling them at that moment.. not how we may want to hear it...

I prefer the harder versions of this song myself, but guess Uncle Lou felt like something different..

  • @fonspark1 best comment !

  • nice tune, but old Lou has the timing all f'd up. Too much Heroin will do that to you.

  • @Davechop54 lol he wrote the song, he can play the song however he wants

  • In the right mood this video/song can send me over till i fall down. Makes me think of my youth and the folks around me

  • Killed it....

  • I love you buddie, 1966 kiddie, love you Lou.

  • The best version

    Fuck Billy idol

  • This is such a good verison of this song, even better than the original; for me.

  • I checked this out because I first heard the BIlly Idol Version, everyone was saying that this was better but I storngly disagree although this verision is good too but the billy idol version just rocks.

  • @whtswrngwthupeople outrageous comment

  • @whtswrngwthupeople Lou has rocking versions. Rock n Roll Animal is the album.

  • @whtswrngwthupeople Lou Reed wrote this. What you're looking for is The Velvet Underground's version of the song (Reed's old band). Lou's voice solo/live is acquired taste, to say the least, and he tends to strip down his songs to bare bones during live performances, which is also an acquired taste (i don't enjoy many of his solo performances for this reason). The song from VU record is excellent, though, much better than Idol's

  • I WISH THAT I WAS BORN 1000 YEARS AGO

  • great video

  • I guess I just don't know

  • "'Cause when the blood begins to flow

When it shoots up the dropper's neck,

when I'm closin' in on death..."

Heroin! cuttin' the chains of Morpheus. Courtesy of Bayer. No heroin at all.

  • two chords is all you need. I love you Lou, You've showed the world feeling rules a million times.

  • Fantastic version.

    Fucking ugly guitar.

  • @salmonico Agreed, but no other visual element captures the zeitgeist of the 1993 Velvet Underground shows like that Klein guitar!! No one ever forgets Lou Reed's "Ugly Guitar".

  • Heroin destroyed my family. I understand it.

  • @Snotra im sorry yiour family and you had have suffered are you ok now

  • @Snotra it's great isnt it! who the fuck needs family! yipee kay yeh motherfucker!

  • This song needs a bridge or something....argh!!

  • @Snotra you really dont understand the song but thats ok

  • @Snotra A bridge? That would destroy the song.

  • @Snotra Like Alaska's bridge to NOWHERE?? The song is fine just the way it is. FOURTY years old and still a CLASSIC!!!

  • @Snotra

A Bridge? Its like saying to John Lennon: Hey dude! Could you please add some powerchords with heavy distortion to Imagine? Or maybe a Jimmy Page Solo?

Damn dude, sorry 'bout your family but you totally misunderstand this song....

  • @LiamGallagher1806 Well said man, by the way Liam rules.

  • @LiamGallagher1806 Nice to see another person who's an Oasis and Lou Reed fan

  • this life style has to end and will end this weekend dont do drugs like heroin save yourself im lost know, you dont have to be

  • what a heartbreaking song

  • @ mickeyzero79: could be, i'm just saying that i like the doors version better..

  • @85sv Well, in that case, have a listen to the Velvet Underground with Nico -- it's the first album (the one with the banana on the cover), and has the original version of Heroin. Groundbreaking album.

Heroin is one of the most iconic songs of rock history -- which is why Reed's performance of it here is so interesting (to VU fans, anyway).

  • the doors version is better

  • @85sv Um...the Doors? Nope. They used the original Velvet Underground version of this song in the movie, still sung by Lou Reed but 30 years earlier.

  • @85sv door's never did Any verSion better then anYone

  • @85sv hahaahaha

  • @85sv What a fuck? :D ...The Doors dont plays this song...its song from velvet underground :D

  • best version of this song

  • klein, schmione play the fucking song faggot...

    Gemma

  • try this - The Velvet Underground - Heroin (song only)

  • worst video of the excelent song, seems it needs something

  • the emotion goes without saying....i remember when i was 12 listening to this on The Doors soundtrack (the movie)\\

  • @downsouthninja 13 years old here when i heard it... smoked the first weed ect.. still living, no needles in the arm hehehe.. an yeaa the emotions go high on this song. ;)

  • very fuckin perfect....really great

  • and a mainline in my vain leads to a centre in my head and I'm better off dad. When I'm rushing on my run and I feel just like Jesus's son and I guess that I just don't know

  • "And thank god I just don't care and I guess that I just don't know" I couldn't say it any better than Lou right there. Awesome

  • breathtaking! hope ur well & stronger shane.

  • This comes from a Japanese Laserdisc 'CURIOUS...The Velvet Underground In Europe', although this Laserdisc doesnt tell the whole story of Velvet Underground, it provides a good basic education for anyone who is curious about the roots of alternative rock.

  • its a bastrad to break thats forsure...

  • great upload thanks for giving me the oppertunaty to see it

  • This is one of the best versions. It's sort of like the one on Live MCMXCIII.

  • ....

  • Such fatalism! I love it.

  • What am I doing with my life? Every time I hear this song, I reflect on my life - I guess I just don't know! Yeah, I wish I had made a big decision, have tried to reached for a kingdom, that I'd sailed the darkened sea. Its awesome. He makes me sad and happy over the whole song.

    So helpless...

  • its a complete submission to the helplessness too.

    the song is very relaxing.

  • Well at least you're not hooked on heroin. I'd imagine that the whole "where am I going with my life" concern gets a bit more serious when you're battling a nightmare addiction.

  • me to have you magned to get clean yet i hope you have im trying to its just so fucking hard

  • Unreal

  • Here's to Mr. Laurie Anderson! Viva Lou!

And all the bozos makin critical comments, "You can all go take a fuckin' walk"

  • moderation... lol how bout just one more? and I hate to get dope sick...

  • Love the shadows, dissolves a bit slow, like to see more closeup of the guitar picking, especially since he is playing a custom (Steve Klein) custom guitar. Nice version of the song.

  • HEROIN! MODERATION ITS POSSIBLE!

  • Yea, one or two time a month maybe.

  • i think he means one or two times a day
