  • I think Meg is a great drummer. I love it that she is unique and her contribution to the white stripes is equal to Jack's. I had to fast forward an Emmylou Harris song (high powered love) on my itunes because the drumming is just too awful for words.

  • does anyone else think that jack is sooooooooo much more talented than meg? im a guitar player, and im pretty confident that i could step in for meg and put down better beats than her

it must be weird to have to work wit the person who u got divorced to

  • they were married

  • great song!

  • Aha. The vocals are great. The White Stripes always have at least one song on their albums that I like because of vocals. :)

  • "You cant be a pimp and a prostitute too." What about Heidi Fleiss?

  • icky thump

  • "Well Americans, what, nothin' better to do? Why don't you kick yourself out you're an immigrant too."

Fabulous line pertaining to all the deportation that's been happening. The Whites are geniuses.

Also, not as a controversial a topic: I really like Meg's hair like that and I am definetly a fan of Jack in that jacket. He has to be one of the most beautiful creatures gracing this earth.

  • I wholeheartedly agree; Meg is uber-sexy, that quote did indeed capture the current trend of xenophobia gripping white america, and jack does look bad-ass

  • dear Jack,

    I respectfully disagree with you.

You say "you can't be a pimp and a prostitute to!". Oh Sir, BUT YES YOU CAN!--HIS NAME IS GEORGE W> BUSH.

  • reminds me of lead singer of raconteurs

  • thats because it IS the lead singer of raconteurs jack white

  • Moron...

  • i was once

  • well done!

  • So if you had a bad night did you beat the crap outta yourself?

  • yes, i beat the shit out of myself

  • @MusicSmack thanks for ruining my dreams.

any way on an unrelated matter this song made me like them even more knowing the white stripes are on my side when it comes to fucking americans.

  • made me feel so depressed after listening to this song. its new and different. its a bad ass song.

  • In keeping live performances to three elements, Jack fulfilled his lead in The White Stripes, which was guitar and vocal duties while Meg played drums.[2] Starting out as an underground favorite in Detroit and other circles, the White Stripes recorded two albums for an independent label. The couple divorced in 2000 before becoming nationally famous.

  • There was something in it that opened me up."[2] The young couple then became a band, and in July of that year, the newly-christened White Stripes made their first live appearance at the Gold Dollar in Detroit. Despite their status as a married couple, the two presented themselves publicly as siblings

  • Jack and Meg White were married on September 21, 1996. In unorthodox fashion, Jack took Meg's surname.[9] Post-marriage, Jack continued to dabble in multiple bands, but it was in 1997 that Meg first tried her hand at the drums. In Jack's words, "When she started to play drums with me, just on a lark, it felt liberating and refreshing.

  • White's popular and critical success with the Stripes enabled him to collaborate as a solo artist with other renowned musicians, such as Loretta Lynn and Bob Dylan as well as acclaim among critics and peers. In 2005, White became a founding member of the rock band The Raconteurs.White has appeared in movies as a cameo and in acting roles. He is sometimes called eccentric, a charge stemming from his behavior and interests on and off the stage.

  • The band went on to have a string of critically-acclaimed albums, with their third, White Blood Cells, catapulting them to international stardom. He was ranked #17 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time."

  • Jack White (born John Anthony Gillis on July 9, 1975) is an American musician, record producer, and occasional actor best known as the guitarist and lead vocalist of the rock duo The White Stripes. He is also a member of the rock band The Raconteurs.During the 1990s, White was a part-time musician in various underground bands in Detroit, while working by day as an upholsterer. He and his former wife, (contrary to popular belief, not his sister) drummer Meg White, formed The White Stripes.

  • i wonder if he dreams in black white and red?

  • if a band can sound this good with no base they deserve respect.

    they rockXD!!!

  • if a person can get a 1+ on a comment without knowing how to spell bass, they deserve to be made fun of. haha

  • can anyone tell me which song by The White Stripes has "ill get little sweetheart and your little dog too" or something like that

  • the wizard of Oz, lol

    i don't know though

  • This video rawks. Awesome song =]

  • lol this is my spanish teacher's (Sra. Zweifel) favorite song. She even played it at school!

  • haha! i wish my spanish teacher did that!

  • i love the part where jack makes the guitar sound like a frigen bag pipe its awesome

  • He has a synth for that ;) Thats what the piano thing is ;)

  • my fav line is about the immigration where he says, you cant be a pimp and a prostitute too. those words always jump out at me.

  • Amen, I lvoe this band there funky, their lyrics stick out, and Jack is obviously insane, how lovely they are

  • Are they done as a band or not?

  • no they arent

  • tru tru...

  • man jack white just knows how to play the guitar the right way

  • their last names are White though. thats like the whole point. and besides, they were red, black, and white

  • Look at peppermint. Is it red or white stripes?

  • both

  • Jack bases things on the power of three. He believes that the only three components of a song are storytelling, melody, and rhythm. Hence, red, black, and white. And Jack's real name is John Gillis.

  • what does it matter?

  • it remind me of areosmith

  • everyone! this is how it really is Jack married Meg they got devorced or should i say John and Meg got married thats right Jacks real name is John Gillis read rolling stone magazine!

  • or Jackson Anthony Gillis

  • Jack's a hillbilly named "Georgia", I saw it in a movie, so it must be true. He married Ruby and they lived happily ever after

  • why do they always wear red?

  • because Jack thinks that red, white, and black are "the most powerful color combination of all time"

  • yeah pretty sure they are bro/sis man...

  • there brother and sister re re s

  • they were married then divorced

  • are the white stripes mexican? lol and i heard they got married but it was too hectic between the band and their marriage so they decided to get divorced and stick with the band..... but no one prolly knows the truth

  • They are NOT married, nor related. They're ex bf/gf and that's it. Jack's married to the redhead in the Blue Orchid video.

  • They arent ex bf/gf... They were married. Jack's original name was John Gillis. He married Meg and took her surname.

Some newspaper in Detroit printed their marriage and divorce papers.

  • thats kinda awkward, thanks for clearing that up...it threw me off for the longest whether they were bro/sis or married or w/e

  • ok.. here.. they WERE married, but they got divorced. they kept with the band and they stayed friends.

  • Hoo hoo, what a drummer.

Lol, the keyboard playing sounds like a bagpipe.

  • i would smash meg white sooooooooo serious. lol

  • Meg looks good! I mean better than say, teh Elephant album.

  • he's hot, lol.

  • idk why, this vid makes me think if the heart is decetful above all things (awsome movie for those of you who never saw it)

  • meg is hot that song is sick whats not to love?

  • if i had a dollar each time i heard this statement. "Arent they brother and sister?" Answer is, they're married... not BRO And SIS!!! srry.. it pisses me off wen i hear that statement.

  • no there bro and sis gad that was just a rumor about some body finding a marrige liscen (i dunno ho to spell) on the internet just to clairyfiy they are bro and sis!!!!!

  • no u tard, ure a fucking moron they were married but got divorced u fucking moron

  • actually, they are neither married nor siblings. they are divorced. before they were married, jack white was jack gillis...yes he took her last name.

  • it's because you j/o on your brothers pillow

  • they are divorced. jack is married to a model who was in the blue orchid video. awesome song. haha i don't think anyone really knows what happend with jack and meg and everyone else. but that is just me! (but there is obviously something keeping them around)

  • prolly to keep maken music for a liveing

  • true that

  • hey

  • Meg looks so cute, but she looks so awkward playing he drums.

  • WOW. Thats true love. All they wanna do is make music, that truly is fantastic. And Wow, they are NOT DIVORCED im 99.9% sure.

  • =) This reminds me of one of my friends.

  • i LLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEE this song

  • All you blogers are retards!cant you just enjoy the stupid video!!!

  • dude i know theres a version of this and theres sum indian guy talkin bout his snake during tha solo's if theres a vid of tht think u culd put in tha link 4 me sick song btw

  • they are divorced is what i thought. i know they were married at some point, but im 99% sure theyve divorced.

  • I love Meg. Her style is so "I don't give a f*ck, let me play the drums."

  • really? i don't think she's very good drummer. Jack is totally the more talented out of the two.

  • I wasn't referring to her technical drumming. I love Her. Her persona, her vibe. Her drumming is pretty lame compared even to any good drummer in most bands; professional and non-professional. But her raw style of drumming does work well for the White Stripes sound.

  • u cant be a pimp and a prostatut too

    man,i love this song

  • Can't be a pimp and a prostitute too?

  • its:

    Well, Americans

    What, nothin' better to do?

Why don't you kick yourself out?

    You're an immigrant too.

not:White americans what nuthin better to do why dont you kick urself out ur an imigrant to.

  • My favorite part is

White americans what nuthin better to do why dont you kick urself out ur an imigrant to. who's chosin who wat should we do u cant be a pimp and a prostitute to.

i think i got the first part wrong sorry.

  • yeah that part i like..

  • awesome song

  • I take that back they are married

  • the only good part about this song is the riff, its so simple, but sounds good

  • They were married, NOT BROTHER AND SISTER.

That's just what they tell (or at least, used to tell) people. It's pretty common knowledge now =/

  • Your retarded!!!! There MARRIED!! LOOK IT UP!!!

  • your a fagot for using the word "noob"

  • no enrtiendo pero jaja es etrentenimiento
