I think they are trying to dry themselves, I agree most dogs don't like being clean, but Jazmin seems to prefer being clean and she gets very excited when she is, and has never rolled in anything smelly or dirty. She knows she gets more cuddles when she is clean!!
Our JRT does this too. I believe most dogs don't want to smell clean. They want to smell like a dog so they try to rub the fresh bath scent off of them. Mine if outside and smells something nasty on the ground, will try to rub his head/ears on it to pick up the scent. It's hilarious. If there is a dead mole or something on the ground, I have to watch out, he'll immediately try to rub his head/ears on it.
i let my jr dry herself on the bed with a old clean sheet, its great she loves it.

my jack used to go crazy after i bathed her. she used to smell like frito's, so when she smelled it really wasn't that bad lol

My dog does this right after a bath , he rolls around and starts running round the house and garden like mad :L They're hilarious :L

@gixstarz i think he does it because his natural scent has been washed away and he is trying to get it back, their smell is very important to them

That's what my crazy Jack Russell does too. We try to dry him with a hair dryer but he is scared of it, so we let him go crazy! ha ha
