I guess you could say that I did snub David Selby. I liked him on DS when he was a ghost before he started having lines. But for both DS and FC, when his character was written into the shows, I thought they went downhill.
EXCELLENT!!!! Here's a challenge: how about a "Peyton Place"-style opener- after all, it was on ABC around the same time DS was. Also, how about a "Dynasty" version?
Thanks for your comments. I was just thinking of adding one or two more stars to this intro. I really need to find the longer version of the Falcon Crest theme.

1. The main reason is that Quentin Collins wasn't a character yet on the show. This is an intro for the Adam storyline and features most of the main characters during that part of the show.
2. The Falcon Crest theme wasn't long enough to include as many characters as I wanted, such as Joe, Maggie and Willie. I'm thinking of redoing the video and squeezing in a couple more.
3. I was never a fan of David Selby. I liked Quentin when he was a ghost, but after that, I didn't like his inclusion in all the story lines. It seemed like the writers had trouble figuring out what to do with him. I despised the Richard Channing character too..
Very clever and well done! If only the series as a whole had enjoyed the same level of professional production as your opening! This show is a wonderful memory of my childhood... but seeing some of the episodes years later (i.e. SciFi channel) revealed just how high school it was... part of the camp, I guess. Thanks for a very clever and enjoyable video!! :)
@Petriku1- You have a point, but DS was really innovative in a lot of ways. I think they all did an admirable job, overall, considering it was live and done on a very small budget. This show still has yearly conventions forty years after it went off the air. It launched a few good careers, too. Today's soap operas aren't nearly as entertaining or good as this was. I like how the actors were more real, not like these plastic-looking people they have on shows nowadays.
Great Job! I would've opened with the stately Mrs. Stoddard and closed with Barnabas. Loved that shot of Dr. Julia Hoffman descending the stairs, very dramatic! The rolling hills, the Collinwood wide shots and the split screen style gave this a fresh, new look! Bravo! How about one with a Dynasty theme?
Great job, although the upbeat, optimistic theme song of "Falcon Crest" doesn't really go with the dark plots and themes of "Dark Shadows" and I personally would've ended with either Jonathon Frid or Angelique as the "and" in the credits.
not bad..i guess u gotta do what you when a character leaves a soap..refilm another opening credits to includes the ones u forgot by mistake..all in all, great theme and i love the split screen:)
That was great and I actually thought the music was a definite plus but you left out Maggie..without Maggie there would be no Josette..and all the other storylines that proceeded that.
I have a GREAT close up shot of Willie that I wanted to use in this video, but I couldn't find a satisfactory clip of him on the right side of the picture for the split screen part. I also wanted to include Joe and Maggie, but there wasn't enough time in the Falcon Crest theme song.
I searched the internet for transitions for Windows Movie Maker and found several for splitting the screen in various ways. It was a while back, or I would give you the website.
MAGNIFICENT!! Thank you for uploading this!

Ya know David Selby was on both DS and Falcon Crest for real. If he sees this I think he is going to feel snubbed. LOL

@fox456 , I disagree about David Shelby, DS with Barnabas was great and when Quentin was added a great show became even better ghost or not.

Very well done a Shame David Shelby was not added since he appeared in both shows Dark Shadows and Falcon Crest.

This is so fabulous! Two minutes of pure fun. If only you had the time and energy to make one for each season . . .

good intro, how about doing one with the current All My Children theme but with the cast around the fall of 1967

@dtw1958 yeah, but considering that David Selby was in both Falcon Crest and Dark Shadows, it's a strange exclusion.

Hang on a second, you put in Addison Powell, and you left out David Selby????
I'm sorry, that's just wrong!

fox963, I'd love to see one of the 1897 storyline like this. Especially since David Selby was in both series. :) Great job with this.

Great !,tho it's too bad it did not show that sexy rake Quentin, since David Selby starred in "Falcon Crest" also.Maybe you'll do another.
"Dynasty" perhaps?
