  • What guitar does Nick play? Doesn't look like his Riviera.

  • this is definitely my favorite strokes era.

  • very few rock bands in history have as many GREAT songs as these guys

  • @whipchops how many great songs do they have? I'm trying to like them, but the furthest I get is, 'that sounds cool', but not endearing, or daaamnnn/wow. But yet when I hear The Drums, and even better seeing them play, I'm like wow/daaaammnnn, yeeeaaahhh!!! Endearing. The Strokes not so much, though they remind me of the Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum.

  • @ToolsnFire the drums are pretty cool. I've always liked new wave punkish 80's bands. the drums are a decent imitation of that sound. Are you 43 like youre profile says? it doesn't suprise me that you like that sound. even if you werent, its still a great sound. I love bands and music from every decade. I'm 28. I have 3 brothers who grew up in the 80's. two of them are really rapped up in the 80's sound and one of them hears music like i do. Anyway listen the the stokes "is this it" album

  • nobody jams like the strokes. nobody.

  • I wish I was a member of The Strokes....sigh......

  • @ThinCrustPizza67 no one else does, the strokes would be completley different if any of the members left

  • @Jordo1900 yeah you're right of course...you ever love a band so much that you feel like they're your bestfriends even though you've never met them...? That's how I feel about The Strokes.

nobody on youtube cares obviously but yeah peace.

  • @ThinCrustPizza67 sorry dude that was my dickhead friend, haha, I would love to be in this band too

  • they're on letterman a lot!!!!

  • This tempo isn't that bad if you ask me..

  • jules looks so handsome here <3

  • too bad fab's messing up the tempo constantly in this one :)

  • @maciekomis tempo is solid the whole time. they just played a bit slower

  • i like how the strokes wear whatever the fuck they want on stage, and never give a fuck

  • The "Oh no!"'s arejust too perfect...

  • jules' voice was so amazing and he sounds great live! but i just recently saw him and all those cigs are ruining his beautiful voice :( I STILL LOVE HIM THOUGH

  • <3 jules

  • 1:25-1:40 CLASSIC Albert Hammond Jr.....kills it!

  • fuck hes so goood live

  • julian chubby is the shit.

  • Ahhh, Julian's voice is just perfect here. Perfect emotion, perfect pitch, just sheer perfection. Love this video too much

  • Fantastic.

  • Why cant Nick have his hair like the way he has it in the video? It looks sooo much better here. his new hair looks disgusting

  • looks like it was recorded in the 90s

  • I miss the old Julian :(

  • @redstar5583 what do u mean by the old Julian??

  • Albert looks sharp. yum.

  • @ninjaotter222 its not only on letterman, its in all of their perfomances. like in every band they have places where they are used to

  • God, I always get goosebumps listening to these guys, I love em'

  • The Strokes r the best in the WORLD!!!!!!!!

  • fuck!! his voice is so FUCKING AMAZING!!!

  • Letterman is a lucky bastard he gets to see the strokes live at some of their best live quality (even though they are always great)

  • His voice is just to die for!

    <3

  • Julian looks like he belongs in Scorsese film. I love it.

  • he looks like a hot angel

  • this song is best LIVE. julian looks really hot

  • The Strokes + The Strokes = The Strokes son unicos (Y)

  • They sound so great on this song live......!

  • The Stokes will be at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival on Saturday May 7. Most likely on the Gentilly Stage.

  • albert is such a crisp guitar player. so clean.. always

  • New Strokes album out March 2011!

Thumps up if you're excited as hell :)

  • @lyngbyy super excited! can't wait!!

  • is it me or are they playing slow as fuck?

  • Yesss!!! It has been announced that they are finally done recording their 4th album!! Can't wait till the album actually hits stores.

  • @zinestrokes Wow your comment was a year ago, still no new album. Dammit.

  • letterman loves the strokes

  • @blackbeltbrown Like Every Body

  • I should be typing a paper...but I'm watching Strokes' videos

  • @l2moua I should be doing a spanish project. hah. okay teacher. okay.

  • i think i love this song slighty more than my mom

  • what a genius composition of melody and harmony. i hope this starts a genre of a more highly synchronized style of music. everything is easy but dynamic at the same time.

  • Julian looks weird with a tan. He shouldn't have one. HIs hair looks good, This band is awesome.

  • Every member looks so great in this video, they look amazing with short hair, especially nick.

  • if you don't like it, you don't get it

  • i love how they use their bridge pickup often. not many people have the nuts for that nowadays

  • @aubiefan24 I started picking up on the way they do that, pun intended, and actually I pretty much only play with the bridge pickup these days. I love how mellow it sounds at times.

  • @aubiefan24 i dont know what that is, but if it makes strokes songs then more for the win :)

  • Seriously how can 1 band come up with soo many awesome songs?

  • Albert is the fucking man!! :D

  • Is he drunk? :)

  • Gosto da música.

  • the bassist is just so chill in like every performance lol his bass lines are sweet as hell though

  • @KillswitchJohn yeah he looks hell lost lol.

  • i don't know what my ears would do without the strokes.

  • What I meant was like in a humbucker. It's just a single coil that's much more sensitive, so you'll get all sorts of sounds just not possible with humbuckers.

  • Both Nick and Alberts guitars have single coil pickups. The only way you get that classic ringing tone with with single coils and a tube amp. Single coils are a lot noisier than your average humbuckers or preamped pickups, because there is no noise cancellation between the reverberating sides of a humbucker. As of the second album, the only pedals nick and albert used where a Jekyll and Hyde and a volume boost for solos.

  • all this guitar talk....i wonder what kind of drum effects and pedals fab uses lol

  • Love this song and The Strokes

  • whats the effect the guitarist is using at 0:34. it sounds like he is ising a synthsiser, but he is playing a guitar

  • @shreadhead96 i remember reading about this somewhere on the internet. he does use some kindof pedal. but overdrive with the tone on ur guitar down (rythem pickup) gets a pretty similar sound. as for the previous comment, yeah, besides their guitars they both use 212 fender hot rod devilles and they both use the first jekyll and hyde overdrive/distortion pedal

  • thanks for the tip...it sounds alittle like that....the guitarist must be using some kind of pedal tho

  • @shreadhead96 no i'm possitive he is also using a pedal. i remember reading it somewhere. u can try googleling it. i just dont know what the pedal is. i was just recomending a similar sound.

  • he probably id..ill try googleing it...thx man

  • @shreadhead96 np :]

  • and can plz send me a message or sumething if you find anything on that pedal plz

  • does anyone know what pedal or effect nick uses for that riff?

  • well he uses a fender deville which has a good tone to begin with it just sounds like a little overdrive....i heard from the sites that they both use the U2 jakel&hyde but who really knows, everyone trys to sell shit now....most likely the tone is a result from the Deville and a $3000 guitar and what ever drive pedal sounds best in the room they are playing in...Alberts tone in 100% his bad ass handmade fender that costs more then my car and a generic drive pedal maybe even the drive on the amp

  • @sweeb27: i tihnk that nick just turns his tone knob all the way to the right? thats how i get the effect when i play it on my guitar

  • is it about blackholes?the end has no end as in blackholes being the end but they themselves don't really have a finite end? dunno, just me.

  • sencillamente IMPRESIONANTES

    cheers from bogotà

  • You know why i love this band so much...the lead guitar is second to the rythem guitar but with out the lead the songs would sound totally different...its a weird little quirk. I might get some hate mail for this comment but I'd say the two players in this band do what Keef invented better then keef himself

  • very clever of you

    congratulations

    i totaly agree with you

    Guille

    Argentina

  • Who is keef? D:

  • Keith Richards

  • fuck, i miss them :(

they need to hurry up with the new album!!

  • just a couple more months :)

  • YES, i know! theyre headlining a festival in 2010!!!! its been confirmed :DDD

  • WHAT?! =O

    YAY!!!! =D

    Wait; which festival? :P

  • "Jay-Z and The Strokes are set to top the bill at next year's Isle Of Wight festival.

The rapper will headline on the opening night (June 11), followed by Julian Casablancas' men (12). A final headliner has yet to be announced.

Tickets for the festival, which takes place between June 11 and 13 next year, go on sale this Friday (December 4)."

ITS NOT IN THE U.S THOUGH, WHICH I AM SUPER BUMMED ABOUT :/

  • @zinestrokes agreed x1,000,000,000,000,000...

  • @zinestrokes just did

  • @zinestrokes hello, ZineStrokes, I'm from the future. Don't hold your breath, the new album ain't anything special. We'll have to love the memories we have of this wonderful band, while new players will find new ways to capture our hearts.

  • @zinestrokes A year later they're back.. ;D

  • sweet child o`mine riff :o xD

  • what on earth are you talking about?! lol this sounds NOTHING like sweet child o'mine

  • probably talking about the guitar tone

  • well if your gonna get technical about it... the guitar lick shares most of the notes in almost the same order. The strokes version of the riff servers the song a lot better then the GnR one, but we are talking same fret and same string for 70 % of the lick, only difference is the gnr version does not use the 15th fret on the b sting it uses the 14th on the little E and that is where your hearing the different tone

  • wow he sounds really great here.

also everyone else, but duh lol

  • Anyone notice that the whole band is wearing almost the exact same outfits they wore when they performed "take it or leave it" on letterman (except Julian)?

  • this guys' dressing style is way too richard hell & the voidoids

  • do u reckon jules would mind if i stole his jacket?

  • nah

he was to jacked up to notice

  • One of the best live performances by julian.

  • One of their best songs... although I like the album performance more than this.

  • GO STROKES!!!

  • Cant believe nobody commented

the strokes are fucking amazing the best band ever

    crazy bass line

i cant wait till they come back!

  • @panicromance razorblade bass line it's better :D

  • @panicromance listen to razorblade bass line :D
