  • Awesome to see this tune for the flute. I actually teach it for the mandolin at my lessons site, FiddlinMike. com, where I post video lessons for the fiddle, guitar, and mandolin. Great playing!

  • I love this tune, and you did a nice job playing it! I read some comments below about the order of the A-part and the B-part. I've played this tune in irish sessions as well as old-time jams, and it seems to be that the irish/english version is how you've played it, but the old-time musicians play the B-part first. Also, your B-part is a bit different from what I'm used to hearing and playing, but it's still a pretty tune.

  • Good job. English song though.. Midlands if im not mistaken.

  • It would be my guess that the tune predates the division of the English and Irish peoples, or that it migrated between the two so long ago, both can claim it with equanimity. Just a guess

  • Hi,

Good flute playing but the name you is commonly known as is Jacky Tar in the States. I ahve noticed in England though they do call it Cuckoos Nest. Also you are starting the tune with the B part and doing the A part as the B part . Nothing wrong with that of course, just letting folks know how it generally is presented. Cuckoos Nest in the states is generally a different tune.
