  • Stroke 3 go Southeast now.........

  • I bet that guys butthole is still tight as fuck from that.

  • Lawdrun he actually says 'oh shoot!' if you listen, doesnt want to swear on the net.

  • commander send this pilot just for decoy :) nice.

  • Why is the Ohh shit from BF3 trailer on this? is it the exact same or just very similar?

  • @mt2oo8secondary

It's exactly the same! I was mind blasted when I found out where the sound came from... Absolutely mind blown!

  • @ShadowZezima Wow that's crazy.

  • @mt2oo8secondary

Did you know there was a new BF3 TV commercial released just yesterday? Look up the new TV spot. It's a full animation of the BF3 marine on the cover of the game moving and shooting! I think it's ridiculously awesome.

  • @ShadowZezima Is it the 99 PRoblems one? i can't find any other one

  • THANK GOD WE GOT GREAT PILOTS LIKE THIS!!,..AND THANK THEM!!,..YOU DO A GREAT JOB GUYS!!,.MAKE US SLEEP GREAT AT NIGHTS!!

  • The heavy breathing was for preventing G-loc right? Defying G-loc and sams wow man what a day for these fellas.

  • /watch?v=2zw8SmsovJc&feature=player_embedded

    at 11:50

  • If anyone didn't get chills watching this then you obviously don't know the difference between a video games and reality.

All I could say is wow. :l

  • уххх!

  • where is Bf3

  • battlefield 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Not Ohh shit, it's holy shit.

  • :O

  • 1:55 BF3's trailer "OOH SHIT"

  • @Lawdrun

actualy he says (in the video above) Holy Shit !

    if u listen closely :)

  • @Lawdrun what trailer ?

  • this was during the Package Q strike. The goal of the mission was to destroy the remnants of the Iraqi nuclear reactor that was blown up by the Israelis in 1981 (Operation Opera). It was a sucess however unfortunately 3 F-16's were shot down and 2 pilots taken POW. This was the only time Non stealthy aircraft flew over baghdad in the persian gulf war, due to the heavy air defenses

  • 1:55 reminds me of that dude saying the same thing in the BF3 trailer at the jet part.

  • whoa i think I'd shit my pants if my RWR goes like missile incoming.. Does anyone know what type of SAM this was, SA-3?

  • @Equilibrium9415 Probably. There were plenty of Goas in Irak. But there is a part where they say "no spike, low" and I think that it could be a MANPAD.

  • @Stover36

You could hear the RWR too though. I don't know much but it sounded like a Long Track or a Gun Dish from a Shilka or something.. Maybe even Strelas, cause No Spikes are usually IR-Missiles, which don't give a Warning.

Whatever, they live, thats all that matters :D

  • I'm not English ... could someone write what the pilot was saying??

  • @sukamugen ITS A F-16 NOT AN APACHE IDIOT!

  • Comment removed

  • @sukamugen AN APACHE CANT MAKE THOSE TURNS,AND THE HUD OF THE APACHE ISNT LIKE THIS ONE,YOU FUCKING FAIL DUDE WHAT THE FUCK!READ THE FUCKING DESCRIPTION YOU MOTEHR FUCKER YOU!

Heart stopping video footage from the hud of an American F-16, as it uses evasive manuevers to dodge Surface-to-air missiles over Baghdad in the 1991 Gulf War.

  • @sukamugen and the original vid says F-16 dodging 6 iraqi sam,no apaches were used in the first gulf wa rin 1991 YOU FUCKING HOMOSEXUAL FUCK YOU IGNORANT BASTARD

  • @sukamugen 25 Angels at the beginning of the video (25000 ft). I have no clue on what part of that is "low"

  • Pilots mental pressure at that time.....!!!

  • Hard to understand what's happening : o

  • Goosebumps, shivers, this is.. eye opening.

  • @siamfd201 Explain to me your point then crazy Ivan

  • @siamfd201 I'm British - oh the irony!

You tried to Invade America? You tried to invade Britain? No. Then you have no point. The Soviet Union lost the cold war. Get over it.

  • @manchesterfellow sorry but.... what Cold war?? two guys hate each other and then they say they're tired of fighting. Guy number 1 Wins....why.......???

  • @Mesuisboss No that is not what happened. One of those guys - the Soviet Union, no longer exists!

  • @siamfd201 I think you will find we have repeatedly tried Russia's weapons. Where do you think the RPG designs come from? Calm down, you will give yourself a hernia.

  • 1:55 to think it would be ripped from the bf3 teaser, OOOH SHIT!!! *mom comes in with shotgun* mom: Boy i thought you were studying, wtf r u doing!? *before i answer she unleashes a full clip right into my head*

  • Those pilots have huge balls! I would've been crying for my mama! Only thing was I didn't get was the very low airspeed. Thought you needed to keep it up working around the SAMS? Kudos to these guys though!

  • Teamspeak?

  • wow wow wow.this is awsome.great video.thanhs

  • 1:55 "Oh sh..." ripped to the Battlefield 3 Teaser Trailer :P

  • SAMLAUNCH SAMLAUNCH!

  • stroke 4 got powned

  • @MO4B

    Idiot

  • I bet this guy was the man when he got back

  • "ohhhhh SHITT!" as he goes abeam and yanks

  • What you hear in this video happened to me exactly the same ,i was riding a bike and my neighbours dog name was (sam) chased me so lucky to be alive :D

  • Look at the number above the airspeed indicator on the left--he's pulling over 5 g's on some of those manoeuvres! Amazing video--god bless our pilots!

  • this buzzing it the background is creepy :/

  • 1:56 Its Ryu off of Street Fighter !!??

  • 0:45 whats you report status ?

    pilot: WHAT'S REPORT STATUS !? #$%¨&U%¨&! ROTFL

    idiot questions...got idiot answers LOL

  • Comment removed

  • @TaltuvaUlundurArgnie no, he asked "stroke 4, status?"

  • @3IDLukeK Right and "Stroke" is obviously the callsign for his flight package, number 4 being the 4th ship in the formation.

  • @TaltuvaUlundurArgnie Thats not what was said...

Ground HQ asked: Stroke 4 status?

    .. no response...

    STROKE 4 STATUS!?

    still no response.

  • @darkl3ad3r I think the second "Stroke 4 status" was a response from Stroke 4.

  • @snaileri The way to answer a status request is to say position, fuel, weapons and damage, not your callsign.

  • shit that beep in the background makes it somewhat creepy :/ like the ring video tape :/

  • it starts defensive break with a good energy advantage to defense himself...

listen RWR: it sounds 3 times to tell the pilot that missiles are in buond his plane, but after he continues to reports Sam launches. Am I right?

  • Pilots were lucky because old SA-2 missiles from early 1960s (used by iraq air defences) were very sensetive to radar guidance and were not very maneuverable. They could not had any chances to evade missiles if enemy used more modern SAM (such as Buk or S-200).

  • Buddy it takes me like 5 seconds to evade a SAM in Ace Combat 6.

  • Yeah!! 614th Lucky Devils from Torrejon AB Spain. The best F-16 Unit ever!!, Nobody was better. Best commanders, best pilots and support personnel in that time in history.

  • wow. you should be in the marines :D

  • Hahahaha, nobody else appreciated this comment (hence the thumb down I just cancelled out) but I found it hilarious!

  • sure from the comfort of your couch with your feet up on the coffee table with the ability to hit the 'pause' button whenever you like.

  • Who the hell would compare a fucking video game to actual combat operations. Thats like saying since hes good at Modern Warfare 2 he could do the real thing. Like Really?

  • @RSprtn117 Ace Combat for the xbox 360 is pretty cool and just as MW2

  • estupido de merda!

  • @segregator236 ESTÚPIDO DE MERDA!!! ESTÚPIDO DO CARALHO!!! LAMBE PIÇAS!!! LAMBE-ME O FORRO DOS COLHÕES POR DENTRO!!!

  • Lol...Ace Combat...fuckin' shooter game.

It has nothing to do with real aerial warfare.

  • @4theemperor C'mon Ace Combat is the best air combat game ever, i've played those games since ps1 to xbox 360!

  • @mxco87 Ace Combat is a japanese crap set in some fictional world, its NOTHING like a true dogfight.

  • @4theemperor Exactly. I'm a fan of the series myself, but I actually know there's a big difference between AC, with it's WWII style dogfights, and real life, where it's all about who fires a missile first.

  • War isn't a joke. This video is life or a potential death at its finest.

Can't replicate this in video games and I really doubt I'd want that. Will just keep playing them for entertainment. No more, no less.

  • 1:56 OHHHH SHIT or OCEAN

  • they were lucky that iraqi SAM crews were poor trained

  • The hell are you talking about?

You click a button and it's gone.

No skill is needed if you have a fire and forget missile which they are... seeing they're SA3's.

  • SA-2 / SA-3 is old radar-guided SAM from early 1960's. It's not "fire and forget", it's weapon of old soviet era. It's very depends on crew training and their skill level. It's not so easy to detect targets, lock on targets and track missiles to targets.

In Vietnam Soviets had real trouble how to train uneducated vietnamise peasants to use SA-2 effective. Some times Vietnamise used missiles without any effect because they lacked real experience to use it.

  • what are you saying, can you fly a fighter plane?

  • i would shit my bridges.

  • Technology in 1991 wasn't as bad as the quality of this video.

I'm wondering if the quality is a result of the massive amounts of EM jamming in the air or if the quality really was that poor.

  • Well, I guess this was recorded on a magnetic tape, so the high-g and vibration certainly affected the recording head's position against the tape.

  • what year was this???? and what plane???

  • are you a retard? read the description f-16 1991!

  • This was in 1991 ans it was an F-16...The pilot dodged 6 SAMs locked on to his plane...the changed his call sign to Dodger after this mission..

  • source?

  • It was my unit..I was there...First hand

  • holy shit!!!! I would of bricked myslef!!! he sounded so scared. The army should give him a medal.

  • heh...you shouldnt get a medal for staying alive...guys survive IEDs in Iraq all the time and they dont get a damn thing.

  • IEDs don't chase after your ass (but the terorists dhould man-up and stop using pussy weapons like the IED)

  • Voice sounds scared at 15 seconds through 28 seconds.

  • well so then the pilot is human, good to know

  • Yep...

  • u would be too if ur ass was dodging 6 missles...

  • Yeah it is intent. But the missiles don't "follow you" entirely they head straight for you like 3 or 4 times as fast as you :( scary.

  • Just shows how difficult and intense air combat is.

You are sitting in the jet and missiles are chasing you.

    Scary stuff.

  • At 1:33 where the camrea pitched down and I could see all the contrails I was like "Wholy hell"

I'm seriously glad I had my feet planted on the ground during my deployment!

  • @Battlepaw i take it you don't know english well.

    Contrails is Chemtrails.

    Wholy hell is holy hell

    and camrea is Camera.

  • Scarry vid, but nice one

where can I find more of these recordings?

    Grtz

  • Fuck Irag...

  • Its from the Lucky Devils Squadron based in Doha, Qatar at that time.

  • missed!

  • holy shit thats scary soundin

  • Holy Sh*t! People under pressure!

  • This was from Major Emmett Tulia (ET). If I am not mistaken he dodged about 6 SAM's without any Chaff or Flares.

  • That was insane ... 6 G !! Wow

  • 6.5G is the maximum in cat3 mode.

But 6 G is nothing for these guys,

if they have some speed they can easily pull up to 9G's.

    Grtz

  • Wow. That's insane.

  • yeah my bad. thought it was co pilot but it musta been someone in another plane giving him intel

  • imagine being there and going through all that. that pilot was amazing. and i think the co pilot was shitting himself lol

  • What co-pilot?

  • HAPPY PATRIOT DAY 11 SEP 08

    GO FALCONS!

  • you can see a sam mov across the hud at 1:45

  • Great footage!

  • As close to dead as I ever want to be, must have done a lot of video games to have reflexes that fast.

  • Wow

  • holy shit good evading right there

  • So the beeping noise identifies that a SAM has been launched or a SAM is targeting? Launched right?

  • SAM has been locked.

  • what piloting!

  • SECOND ONE BREAK!

  • not to be disrespectful, but the SEAD strikes sure did a lousy job of blowing up the enemy radar. Maybe the AGM-88C HARM wasn't implemented yet and they had the SHRIKE.

  • Of course they wouldn't have had the 88C. Even a quick search would show that it wasn't fielded until two years after the war ended. Also, one significant reason that SAM sites were still operational after SEAD strikes is they had plenty of backup radar trailers that were only used after the initial radar was taken out. Thus, a site could be hit and considered "neutralised", but in fact, a new radar controller was put in place.

  • this bigist problem the pilots had was sa-7s, sa-14, both ir and there is no warning if its coming, only if u see it

  • 2 or 3 planes loosing a day is a normal average. in the first gulf war it was even higher because the iraqi air defence didn`t turn off for hiding radarsites. they fought open against US airforce and lost immediatly after few days... but in my estimate us airforce was loosing 5 - 15 planes a day.. so just take a look at korea war or vietnam. its nothing extraordinary

  • it had to be SA2 they where to close to the target site and manpad

  • zuuuuuuuun!

    xD

    lol!

  • what is that noise? looks like a fly

  • The 3-4 short rings that sounds like 'TU TU TU TU' means the F-16 Threat Warning System , had detected a Sam lauch that have been fired onto the Aircraft in which the alert is running at. North \ E\W\S 'Sam Launch' Radio-call means the SAM (surface-to-air Missiles) lauch positional, symobls north as bearings 350-10, and so on refers to other direcations in this path.

Hope it would help you to get some knowladge with the basics of flying in an F-16.

  • I would imagine a fighter pilot to me more scared of ground to air missiles then anything else, they can come out of anywhere and kill instantly. Did I here right, one jet was shot down in that all?

  • hey not one.. 74 exactly. it`s a fairy tale that is`t so hard to down a plane.. US Airforce will loose constantly 2-3 airplanes a day against defences like the iraqi, serbian, iranian or similar. . . you heard it right. one was down in this aciton.

  • nothing like the video games man, this is some real crazy shit

  • actually, if you play a sim like Falcon 4.0 + OpenFalcon mod you will find that it pretty closely resembles this. check this vid : /watch?v=VC2Pxq2-BiU

  • yea and Lock on Modern air combat is also a good idea

  • Holy shit.

    This guy is a legend.

  • wow! that's nuts!

  • My goodness !!! That's enough to give you nightmares. Stuff like that you do not forget.

  • Jesus, what SAM was this? SA-2?

  • Christ, that's intense.

  • what kind of sam is it? sa-9/13? or sa-6

  • I dont know man but if you freeze at 01:32 you can see 3 missile trails and they all missed him. That's very intens.

  • At around 2:24, is that a sam that flys in front of him on his hud?

  • Stroke3 tally missile.. damn.. thats fucking heavy.

  • Hairy!! Respect to those pilots!

  • all those gs are right!!! the corner speed (ideal speed for hardest turns ~ >8gs) of an f-16 is approximately 330 to 440 knots. this pilot dropped below that speed a lot, and had to afterburn to get back to cs.

ordinarilly, you would put an incoming missile on your 9/3 line (9 or 3 o'clock of the plane), but this must have been extremely difficult with so many missiles in the air. they also had their radars set to silent mode making an immediate counter attack impossible (i.e. blind).

  • He was shot down and captured by the Iraqis, i bekive he was relised after the war.

  • my spelling sux!

  • how long do they follow for?

  • Stroke 8 reports that he is 'blind', which normally means he cannot see the enemy, but in this case it means he sees none of his flight members anymore.

Then more SAM-locks are reported, all coming from the same sector (on the radar warning receiver this is visible).

Right after that more SAM launches are reported.

A hair raising sortie this must have been, one that is probably talked about a lot.

Must say that the flight worked very well together, shows the benefit of good training.

  • The flight lead then tries to get his whole flight to egress the area in the direction South.

The amount of G's on the plane are not that much, in the top left corner you can see the current G-forces all the time and on the left hand bar you can see the airspeed, which has dropped to around 250 kts (which is in itself a very good cornering speed, but does not give you any distance from the missile).

  • Stroke 3 is then told to fly in the direction SouthEast, which he does. At the same time 'stroke 8' reports he has a missile locked on him.

Then it becomes a bit of a mess on the radio, since other flights are on the same freq and are directed by Awacs.

Stroke 3 in the mean time dodges 2 missiles succesfully.

  • First 'stroke 3' (callsign) is instructed to 'break right' to evade a missile.

At the same time 'stroke 4' gets hit. Flightmembers ask for his 'status' i.o.w. 'how is he doing', but no reply.

While they are sorting this out you can hear other traffic on the same freq, but this has nothing to do with the whole fight.

In the background you can see the smoketrails of at least 3 missiles and other flight members get locked on as well.

  • What you basically hear is flight members helping each other evade SAM's by telling the others when to break and which direction to break.

Idea in SAM evasion is to make sharp, tight, turns at the last moment to break the lock of a missile. When a missile is locked it means the missile is directly aiming for a specific target and won't stear away without taking action.

  • Damn, all those turns are putting a lot of Gs on them. You can hear them trying to talk then switch back to controlling their breathing to keep from passing out. Crazy.

  • wow very intense. did they attack the sam sites or they just doing a recon??

  • at the min 1:12 you can see the missle shoot by don't IRAQ have SA2 SA6

  • Hello, i need some help, can somebody please write the dialogue? i cant't undertsand too much of the recording thanx.

  • impressive piece of flying. what happened to the warthogs here? don't they try to clear out the SAM bases before the F16s com in?

  • The A-10 is not primarily used in the role of suppressing enemy air defenses. They are too slow. The F-16 is the primary SEAD platform for the USAF.

  • They are now... in this video though there were F-4s working on sam sites... the problem was that they only had so much fuel and by the time this flight reached the target area they had gone.
