Do the statistics identify with your reality?

There are negative statistics about white people if you bother to look for them. There are more white pedophiles then blacks. Fraud is committed more by white people then black people. Property crime is largely committed by white people. I'd say those statistics are probably correct. You can't let emotions get in the way of the truth.

Statistics in general don't talk about "good things". They discuss shortcomings and problems. So rather than point the finger in a futile attempt to not look at yourself, try and affect change in your community. Because it has to be taking place internally as well as externally for it to work. The statistics are not skewed or manipulated, there are reasons they are so bleak, such as the poverty factor, but thats only half the story.

Their numbers are for repeat offenders e.i. 1 black man commits 10 crimes, all 10 are counted, It's not on an individual basis. That's a lie and the men who conducted the study came out and corrected the "misunderstanding", but it was already too late. That wrong stat. had spread like wildfire. So, I don't buy into the hype of most statistics, so many others are just as inaccurate.

Its also important to note that studies find correlations to come to some conclusion however correlation does not equal causation and causation can never truly be established in science although you can find strong correlations. So, I often find that people will to take a statistic and try to say that x causes y when really it just shows that when x is present usually y is also present. But yea I don't hear much good stats on African Americans but the news likes to focus on negative stuff.

You do have to be careful about statistics. I don't blame the researchers but the media and others who use the stats for their agenda. The media will often grab onto the most sensational articles to make a story out of. However, you actually need to read this journal articles and find out about the procedures and subjects used in the study. Its also important that the articles are from peer reviewed sources. Often there are errors done in a study or things that need more investigation.

I agree with you 100%!!! If you research some of those statistics that are all over the media you will find some huge biases that are in those statistics that make many of them untrue. Look up the statistics on the low percentage of young black males who graduated from high school a couple yrs. ago. When people take these statistics they don't take in consideration the ones who graduate a year behind, but they still graduate!

I'm glad that I wasn't the only one seeing this. I've noticed this for a long time. The "statistics" do not match my reality at all. Just another way to put us down. Most of the brothers I know are working in well paid jobs. The only thing I would probably agree with is the out of wedlock birth rates, but what is this 1925? Brad and Angelina's twins are out of wedlock, nobody's telling them to repent. As long as the man is in his children's life that all that matters and I see a lot of that.

I'm sad to say the stats about single parent households does apply to my reality. As a matter of fact my reality is worse than the stats. The stats about the disparity between educated black women and educated black men also applies to my reality. I'm not trying to be negative. A blog friend referred me to your videos because she said you remind her of me and I agree with her. We share many views based on what I have seen so far, but this is not one of them.

I'm white so can't comment, but my ebony wife kind of fits some of those stats, although married to a black man yrs ago, he left her & their 2 boys in Atlanta in the early 90's. Started at Grant Park shelter SE Atlanta & ended Perry Homes Public Housing in NW Atlanta, but by her story, alot of thugs in that hood. We've been together 7 yrs now in small town TX. She loves it & loves me, I thank God every day for bringin' us together.
