  • ((((A.I.M))))

  • wow, nice, u can sing well..How do u say hello in your language?

  • @jennifer171986 , Say "G'we" pronounced g'(almost like a "q"sound) "we (like "way with almost a short "E" sound). GWEA.

Then say Me'dalin" proounced May-da-lyn. "Hello, how are you"?

My pronounciations maybe off and I speak the Listiguj dialect which will difer from others plus I am horrible at proper translations and converting sounds.

Would you like to know what the words of this beautifull song are saying?

    Just trying to help.

  • @mimaq74 G'we! haha cool. Me'dalin? yeah what r the words?

  • Hi, I am from New Brunswick, and we are soing a play(which will be televised) about the Peticodiac River and the great role the Micmac played in protecting many Acadians in New Brunswick from being deported.

For the play I have to learn some Micmac due to the fact that I would have a monologue in Micmac language!

Do you have any suggestions about elders of the Micmac community that would be willing to help me learn the language in order to best represent and honor them.

  • One way to honor a teacher or elder, or anyone really, if your learning or asking for something, is to creat a tobacco tie. Its red cloth with tobacco and optional herbs like Ceder, Sweet-grass, and Sage, or others if you know of them. Like poppy everlasting?

  • Put it in the center of the square cloth, and it only has to be small, and bring the four corners together, and tie it with red ribbon or string.

I know three words in Mi'kmaq especially.

    Tahoo- All my relations.

    Wa'lalin- Thank-you

and i think it's spelled Kwe, which means Hello or Greetings.

    ^^;;

  • a really really great song

    good job

  • Let us greatly respect our Nativeness

    My people let us gather

Let us greatly respect our historical roots

My people, let us help one another

Let us help one another according to the Creator's intention for putting us on this planet

  • This is the translation of Kepmite'tmnej. It is a very sacred song to the Mikmaq people. It was a gift from the creator not only to the Micmaq nation but to all peoples. Keep singing and hold on to our l'nuulti'kw nativeness. Keep up with the singing, excellent job!

  • All our relations! I thank you whoever put this on you tube. It feels good right here in my heart.

    All my honor and respect.

  • Hey, great, how about his brother Tulley? Is he still around, too? I knew those guys 15 years ago! Mother Earth Lodge saved my life.

  • Lovely message! Do we know each other from back then?

  • Probably not, unless you were in Pennsylvania.

Tulley was living here at the time. It was Mother Earth Lodge South, at Regina's place.

After he left, off traveling again, George was my lifeline by phone.

I was a sad case, relapsing a lot, but I finally got clean, and eventually sober too.

All starting from that first sweatlodge with Tulley. Changed my whole life. I am soooo grateful!

  • Awsome tee ..

  • This is a beautiful song....Miigwetch TeeToes!

  • I'm sorry, I thought it being called a micmac song it was open for all Mi'kmaq to know. My appologies.
