her choreography was amazing, she has such a great style. But.....her first two passes weren't landed properly, both times she had to take either a step back or forward to regain her balance, hence the deductions. That's the reason why athletes are not allowed to step after their passes anymore, putting your arms up and leaning back doesn't complete it or look artistic, it just disguises a sloppy landing. I'm glad they finally changed the rules.
WOW, she's got CHOREOGRAPHY!!!!! :-O Why can't more gymnasts be like her? That was really refreshing. It's been a while since I've seen this routine. Beautiful.
I love this routine. One of the best choreographed routines at Athens. If it were up to me I would have had Pavlova in Gold, Ponor Silver, and Bhardwaj Bronze. But Mohini was in the wrong code era for her, and Pavlova was ROBBED at that Olympics all over the place.
@tide32athlete Agreed. Nothing exciting. I hated her full-in double "tuck" too. Gymnasts like Mohini Bhardwaj, Cheng Fei, and Daiane Dos Santos actually had difficult tumbling elements and didn't have to rely on acrobatic connections for the SV.
It was my son who wrote that, and he was only 6 during the last Olympics, so he didn't catch on to what "Athens 2004" meant. He's now a talented Level 6 gymnast and enjoys watching gymnastics videos on YouTube.
deng 9.525/9.7 only thing i can think of is the leg separation on full twsiting double back. as for the choreography i remember galina changing it up over and over back at AOGC in the summer. looks great :)
who cares? it's a great routine. she's worked hard. she's old as hell. the fact she does so beautifully at her age and to have such endurance is amazing in itself. think more about why gymnastics is so beautiful. because it takes effort and imagination. who gives a shit about the starting value of a four year old routine. i'm sure mohini's over it by now.

Forgot to add-I would have tied Cheng with Mohini for bronze as well-that way all my favourite routines would have medalled. :)

@audie83 Mohini was a much better tumbler than Ponor, IMO. I hated this code!

Shouldn't the SV be 9.9?
DLO punch front - .3
Full-in - .2
Double pike - .1
Gogean - .1
Popa-tuck jump 2/1 - .2
Cat leap 2/1-cat leap 1.5 - .2
1.1 in Bonus plus 8.8 base score = 9.9 SV.
