Very rare to see this happen. Most Pilots wouldn't choose this runway, especially on heavies such as this A340. However it's a nice treat when it happens.
@Ohgimmeabreakwillya True. However in some circumstances the Pilots can request an alternative runway for landing. At Newark there are typically heavy crosswinds, resulting in the use of 11/29. When I worked at EWR, the Pilots of the Airline for which I worked would always specially request in advance an alternative to landing on 11/29.
@LeoA380 oh ok,thanks for the info; I fly often from Rome to Newark,only one time we landed on runway 29 though..and now that I'm thinking about it,the runway was also slippery since It just stopped raining few minutes before landing - It was quite of a sharp brake after touch down..

I just landed on runway 29 aboard a 767 yesterday. Man, that was quite an approach!
