To be honest, this was where the series started to lose me. I get that it was mostly parody and lampoon, but it always bothered me that they'd call mankind primitive for the "pieces of green paper," then turn around and subject the ultimate question of life to marketing and advertising. It's a ridiculous double-standard even in an exaggerated parody world.

*sigh* Fenchurch. I remember feeling kinda bummed when Douglas Adams decided to just let her disappear in "Mostly Harmless". But well, okay, I'm aware of the fact that it would've been kinda difficult to lead the Fenchurch-Arthur-storyline to a satisfying end fitting the overall ludicrous and sarcastic tone of the novels. Yet her short cameo appearence in Eoin Colfer's sequel was the only real downer in that surprisingly funny (though partially somewhat clichéd) book.
