Most people are best served by reliability, comfort, spaciousness, and reasonably decent fuel efficiency, so this (like a Lexus) is a good car. Some people have the luxury of owning a car for other reasons, but this really will do the job well for most people and it's a better car than most drive. I suspect that a lot of the people who comment on car posts are under 30, earn less than $75k/year, and don't drive anything like a late model $50k car. "Car poor" is not a good wealth strategy.
@edwilley3 I'm 27, make $95k/yr, drive a $53k luxury sportscar, and don't think this is really the way for any younger person to go. It is just a luxury car, not even a luxury sportscar like my S4--Hyundai didn't compromise
in noise or ride quality. I've seen these at the race track and they have a lot of roll and take a long time to settle that massive bulk. It's an excellent luxury sedan, don't get me wrong, but the R-spec title is wrong, and the big engine is unnecessary.
i must admit, hyundai has done a good job with this one. too bad it costs $50,000 and it weights over 4,000lbs, so although it's got decent torque, it's still not super quick.

Im korean and I find this car totally bland, absurd, lifeless, emotionally detached and devoid of definitive composition. Hyundai is good at shipbuilding... But cars are an individual expression. They're supposed to connect with the driver in a unique way. this really isn't for the soul.

@thesentinelred Yeah, thats true....but still, the engine has 15 HP more power than the Mustang GT with the same displacement... in torq is very similar.
@palebeachbum haha. i think that's the lane detection system though, its supposed to alert the driver when you're veering off to the next lane without your realizing it, hence the annoying beep....
Hyundai is doing well because they offer luxury-level cars that aren't available from American autobuilders, save Cadillac's fine CTS. It's sad, but true. Chrysler have the 300,but it's not an Imperial,and it could easily be.And Lincoln.I won't even comment,and I'm actually a BIG Lincoln fan of the sixties through recently.PS.Ford,please give us a proper T-Bird, for God's sake.
I just wish all Genesis models come with the iconic wing emblem from the Korean version
