  • Rexer Ironside was my guy.

  • @IamRizer Gotta love that chaingun he strapped to the front.

  • @FireDragonKaryu On top of that he had a metal faceplate and one of the most awesome names in videogames.

  • it was my favorite arcade game as well. I destroyed all comers at the arcade without breaking a sweat.

  • cybersled was my first and last original game, it was very repetitive and boring, I hated it

  • @AbductionFailed Hahahahah same, Some twat in my local blockbuster convinced me to buy a copy for my playstation, worse decision ever...

  • Man, this was one of my favorite arcade games. Kids today are missing out.

  • strange thing. the last guy to beat on my psx pal version is constantly moving fast and shooting. not like in this video. i think this must be a different version.

  • @bratseth2 Its a bug I learned from when I was young. If you zip over to that block I hide behind and circle strafe it eventually he'll just stop and shoot, you can then peek your gun roound the corner and hit the edge of him. Eventually he'll break loose and come after you so quickly circle strafe round the block again until he stops.

No idea how I found it out, but once I did I never forgot it!

  • @FireDragonKaryu oh, if that works with my version, it would be great. thank you for the hint.

  • @bratseth2 No problem.

I see no shame in cheating the CPU for the win, especially as he has unlimited missiles (listen how many "thwoosh" sounds are heard in that last match!)

But yeah it might take a while to get the feel for it, but if you use my vid as a guide you'll get the hang of it.

  • I would kill for a Cyber Sleds cabinet. Crowds of people used to gather around it at the arcade lol I think they linked up 2+2.. i forget...

  • Damn, I remember this. I'd have been about 7 or 8 at the time, I think. I never particularly liked it, but I remember it because I was playing in a hospital bed, and it passed the time reasonably well. Don't even bother asking why. I'm actually surprised how much the game footage resembles my memory. You're a hell of a lot better than I was, though. Wonder how I'd fare nowadays.

  • i remember this game being so hard.. but you made it look easy

  • whats the name of that cyborg army guy? i need to google him so i can find his space ship's pictures so i can make it on SPORE!!!!!!!!

  • @Iceburner96 the third opponent? think his names is Rexer Ironside or something similar.

  • The graphics in this game look pretty clear for a PSX game. I feel quite ashamed not to have picked this up (not sure if I ever saw it in stores though) Kinda like Virtua On for the Saturn, but without the jumping, and greater arenas.

  • I remember renting this from Blockbuster, playing it for about 20 minutes, and hating every second of it.

  • Damn I should of bought this cabinet for $550 on ebay last year

  • Do you guys consider this a good port of the game? I remember the split screen looking pretty crappy. It would be nice if we got an online remake of this game that expanded on alot of the game play. Wishful thinking though.

  • @DDRPaladin356 Cyber Csled did get an arcade only sequal "Cyber Commando" though I have no idea what it had in it.

The split screen was pretty crap, it missed out details like slopes etc which actually dramactically changed some of the arenas. You should be able to pick it up for very cheap though.

  • those are fantasti graphics for ps1, the animations of the mackines are very good and the fac the theyre cshadow is not a simple circle like most ps1 games is impresive,

  • I'm usually a pacifist. lol. The highest I've gotten was a D.

  • My favourite tanks are the spider and the one you used. I use circle strafing to kill my enemies.

  • I think I remember seeing that advertisement of it as a bill board on ridge Racer (PSX)

  • Correct! Namco loves advertising their games within other games.

Tekken 5 even had the whole starblade game to play.

  • i pray to God not only do they bring that namco brings this back, but that they bring back the genre itself, and then bring back the arcade!!. For me when i was a kid this was as close to virtual reality as i was gonna get. One of my all time fav arcade games.

  • Its being released for Virtual Console

  • I spent my entire Grade 9 year (1994-1995) at High School playing the arcade version with friends at lunch. I had the thing mastered.

I wonder if the PS1 version works on the PS3 now?

  • I have no idea on it PS3 compatibility.

The arcade version was awesome, it played differently too. Some versus maps didn't operate the same as on PS1.

  • I love flat-shaded stuff. This, Virtua Racer, all that. It somehow looks more futuristic than textured polys to me.

  • Maybe because its reminds people of Tron? =)

  • I always hated the last boss. I also hated how I would always kill myself by hitting walls.

  • Last boss is easy if you exploit him like do =P

Took me while to work it out, up to that point though yeah I HATED him.

  • Ohhh in the arcade this was like Virtual Reality to me when i was young =D

    i want the .CHD

  • Awesome! This takes me back...I remember playing this on my friends brand new PS1 at the time. I always liked this game because it reminded me of the old movie Tron.

  • Yeah, it might be a short game and not have many features but it holds a special place with me.

I can just imagine what Namco could have done if they had the Tron license, would be nice to see!
