I have 8gb memory, yet my computer teacher says it won't help, Optimum memory is like 6gb. He explained that your computer stores short term memory in ram, like opening up apps and stuff like that, but if you have to much ram your computer might take longer to find that spot in memory.

why didn't you edit that out when you sinzed, hay do you know of a way to get games to not lag I have the mac version of star wars force unleashed and it lags i nave a 2.8GHz HD mac intel 2 dual with 4GB of memory is it because I have the master collection of CS5, logic Pro 9, final cut express i have like 55 programs on my dock how do I clean up my dock so it does not look so full. if you want to see my dock check out one of my videos where I show my desktop you can see a lot of programs.

yes. it does need batteries. you put them into the left side.

But: the Apple keyboard does not use much batteries AT ALL. Same as with the Magic Mouse, they will last a couple of months in your keyboard.

Best thing to do is open up terminal and type

I did this a few months ago and my mac has been blazing fast ever since. Also it works best if you have a lot of photos, music and whatnot saved.

@ninjassasin4 If someone tricks you into typing this, youll erase everything off of all of your mounted hard drives. Not just the system drive, but all of them!

rm means remove. -R means recursively, that is, every directory inside the target. / is the target, and means the top level of your computer, which logically represents all of your mounted hard drives.

So, dont do this. That would just be silly.

you can also get dashquit and just kill all the dashboard (if you dont use it of course) itll restart your finder and its dead. if you turn dashboard back on (F3 or however you do it on your computer), it comes back on. this works best in my opinion.

You could but I wouldn't. The reason is cause it's pretty bad for a computer if it's on for too much time and it's really good for the laptop when you shut it down cause it can rest.

Chivamisfit, if you don't know what beta means, avoid it. Betas are only really worth it if one, you are a beta tester or two, a sado who gets the latest beta of msn because they are sad.

Betas basically come with NO warrenty and you should expect NO support. They are meant to be the stage between development and shipping, so may have some bugs (programming/logical errors).

Betas can/can't be dangerous.If you was flashing a bios AVOID betas, if on the other hand you are on a app beta, no harm

Onyx is great, I've used it before and it sped up my iMac a lot! Also, not using Safari and switching to Firefox works. Safari takes up a lot of RAM, while FIrefox takes up a really low amount.

I'm still using tiger, so I don't know bout leopard but another way to terminate your dashboard would be to open Terminal and type:

defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean YES

then restart...or type: killall Dock

or if you want back the dashboard, you type:

then restart, or once again type killall Dock.
