  • Are they playing Jesuit?

  • Larry Gelwix is currently serving as president of the LDS Fresno CA mission, of which my ward is a part of. One of my missionary elders turned me on to this man. I had previously never heard of Gelwix or the Forever Strong movie. What an awesome speaker and role model to follow!

  • Last night I heard Larry Gelwix speak to hundreds of parents and youth. He's the real deal. How can anyone argue with his record? The boys that are now good men that have gone through his program.

BTW -- the haka wasn't stolen -- he takes no credit for it. It's part of the team preparation just like the All Blacks and Kiwis Rugby Teams. None of them were the originators either

Excellent principles from a good coach.

  • its rugby why does it matter if its a highschool team or a club team??

  • this team stole the haka. and they are only a highschool team, WHAT A JOKE!!

  • Coach Gelwix is a hero and example to many... I hope to emmulate him as I coach youngsters for many years to come...

  • highland stole the FAG HAKA. they are fakes who copy other teams. oh ya, and they are a CLUB TEAM. haha, what a joke

  • @MrDelight666 Sounds like someone who got his butt handed to him a few times by Highland... and no, they're not a CLUB TEAM... they're a HIGH SCHOOL TEAM that has transcended the boundaries of a single high school. Too bad you and your wussy team couldn't ever stand up to Highland... I'd like to see that. Highland has been doing the HAKA since Coach Gelwix took over... and anyone who does the HAKA "stole" it from the South Pacific. They do it out of respect.

  • @BigIrishman16 haha, even worse. a highschool team? haha. gelwix is a fucking cheat. get real, i hope he drops dead

  • thanks Larry for being apart of my life.

Forever Strong is based on a high school rugby team in the United States, the Highlanders, who perform the haka before big matches.

Highlanders coach Larry Gelwix said in an earlier interview that the team had great respect for the haka. He said movie executives had flown cultural advisers over from New Zealand, but Mr Parai said he had no knowledge of this.

  • He said the advisors should have been Ngati Toa.

"You can call any tribe in the country and they'll tell you who [this haka] belongs to."

Crane Movie Company, the representatives for Forever Strong, did not respond to enquiries
