It loaded up fine, but it's a bit too big for the screen. I can't see the status bar or the dialer, menu and web button at the bottom. I see no way to adjust the screen size. I can't even move it.
I wouldent mind having it but i'm not the most patient guy I cant waite for my computer I try to download something thats 2.1 MB and it takes like 5 mins to download imagian this!
@tbnclub replying to myself.. easy fix. 64bit windows does not have the java app inside program files. they are in program files(x86) so had to copy over some files.
I used a similar configuration to yours. I have 4 GB of RAM (Corsair XMS2 DHX ) and 2.2 GHz CPU (Intel Core2Duo). I have always used Intel processors for all my builds. But I am considering basing my next build on an AMD Phenom processor. They are very affordable and they don't differ much from the Intel ones. In some cases they are superior to the Intel counterparts. But I have always used ATI graphic processors, now part of AMD.
I did not use the link you provided in the video description. Instead I googled Android and headed over to the site, and then the developers section and hit the Windows link on the main page. But I checked the checksums now and it appears as the one you linked to is the very same release as the one I got.
Oh, and yes, I did get the error the first time I tried fetching the URL for the packages. The error you mentioned. "Failed to fetch URL (Youtube censored URL) You might want to force download through **** in the settings."
I don't know what's with the different revision number for SDK Platform Android 2.2, if that's just a typo or something else. The release I downloaded did appear slightly different from what I've seen in your tutorial. As for the Android SDK Tools, my guess is that you intensionally have uninstalled it for the tutorial.
A few remarks about the whole process. The Android SDK Tools revision 6 was already installed on mine. I also noticed that SDK Platform Android 2.2, API 8 was of revision 2, not revision 1 like yours. Otherwise everything was the same.
I just downloaded, installed and run the emulator. It took 3 minutes and 55 seconds to download and install the packages, although I only had to download and install three of the four packages since the fourth was already installed. It took 1 minute and 12 seconds to create an AVD. And finally, it took 4 minutes to load the AVD emulation.
The rumor is saying that the Android team is now completely focused on bringing a better user experience to the standard Android release for the next Android 3.0 later this year. I sure hope they will be able to match Sense UI, which I consider to be the best custom UI out there as of yet.
@Altair8801 eh...i ll be happy if they came out with 2.2 for the incredible but for the 3.0 it will take higher specs to run it. and from rumor 3.0 should eliminate UI's and such
So that was cool man. But it was really painful watching it load, and then hiccup, and then load again, and then freeze. So except that and the funny pitched up sound of your voice, it was okay.
@Altair8801 Lol yea the emulator requires alot of processing power i did this on a 2.3 GHZ PC with 4GB Ram lol and still...it was kinda laggy but i can tell anybody that it is not at all this laggy as i own a android smartphone myself
Yeah, HTC Droid Incredible is probably the best Android phone HTC so far. As far as I know it's not available in Europe as of yet, and I have no solid clue on if it ever will appear here. The Samsung Galaxy S is probably the best Android phone you can buy here at the moment, and it's very close to the Droid Incredible hardware wise. But I still have the Sense UI to wish for. I believe the Sense UI is mostly what sells HTC droids.
No I'm just kidding. I see your point in running Android on a computer. It's a way of evaluating the new features of Android 2.2. But technically you're not "running" Android on your computer, you're just running an emulation. But again, it's good way of evaluating the new features prior to installing it on the actual phone. It's even a good way for those Apple addicts to check out Android without actually owning the phone.
"It's not hard at all but I do recommend using it on a pretty decent computer and not trying this on your Netbook. It will take along time, it will freeze it up, and it'll say Not Responding, I've tried it so I don't recommend doing this on... this is compatible [...]" It sounds to me like you're doing exactly the opposite!
@blahblahblahblah1310 What the hell you mean a decent computer. It runs on phones fine which at the most have like a 1.1GHz single core processor, with like 512MB-ish of ram, at the most.
@XombieJer Its not the OS running on the computer. This is the SDK, and to run the SDK you will need a emulator. The emulator is the memory and processor hogging application. If it was just the OS you could boot from CD or USB it wont even need 800mhz. of processor but you have to use the emulator and it uses a lot of memory and procesing speed/power.
@POTC03 Yes! its the same process and steps but when you download the SDK you will need to get the Mac version of it not the windows. Please subscribe if this helped

I get this error:
emulator: ERROR: no search paths found in this AVD's configuration.
Weird, the AVD's config.ini file is malformed. Try re-creating it.
What is wrong? It does with every AVD i create.
