  • works with a hdmi to vga cable??? or hdmi to vga adapter??

  • thx!

  • can you have your xbox 360 and pc hooked up to the same moniter

  • @SuperSuperRaccoon yes just make sure the in the settings ur monitor is set to digital

  • I want to use my Trittion ax720 headset so can I just put the fiber optic in the back of the xbox with the DVI hooked up to the back of the monitor can I get sound that way with out hooking up all extra stuff?

  • @cblock356 if you have an hdmi to an hdmi, can you connect one hdmi in the computer and the other into the xbox?

  • @MrBubbletastic yes.....what kind of question is that......

  • @cblock356 are you able to connected the hdmi to the hdmi port in your moniter. So you dont need to buy the Hdmi to DVI.

  • you dont even need to crack it open get a small hack saw and cut the lug of that covers the hdmi port ..worked for me

  • Please help, Mine says Frequency out of range

  • My screen says 'Frequency not recognized' please help'

  • thanks this helped alot

  • Damn yoo, Does it matter which kind of HDMI and which DVI matter?'

  • DUDE YOU ARE A FUCKING LIFE SAVER cause i spent 31 bucks on a fucking DVI = HDMI adapter plus the hdmi cable and i found out that my monitor doesnt support sound so what i did is i ripped off the black casing on the digital video and sound ouputs and left the red and white sound outputs in the tv and just unplugged the video then used my hdmi cable and hooked it into the adapter and now i may not have to get a new tv :D big thanks duck im subbing and liking your video

  • Did yo have to adjust your resolution?

  • What if you have turtle beach headsets? will I be able to use them on a LCD?

  • OMG this dude is awsome, anyway ive got everything else but how the hell do you crack the scart cable open? ive tried literally everything!!!!

  • @X3legance Use a swiss army knife or get some grip pliers and pop it right open. Good Luck

  • @X3legance just get a small flat head screwdriver pop it in a little. then once its in hit the top of screw driver handle with a hammer. Did the trick for me.

  • GENIUS

  • you are so fucking awesome! :DDD Thanks!!!!!

  • What if your monitor does not produce sound?

  • @Evolutionofhell plug it into some cheap pc speakers, instead use a female 3.5mm stereo jack to rca adaptor and plugcheap pc speakers into that OR plug headphones straight into it if your desperate.

  • Thanks for the tip.

  • What if I have a turtle beach and use a RCA audio adapter because I play on hdmi do I still need the y splitters?

  • Helped more than the other videos i saw

  • Thanks, Helped :)

  • and with the y adapter are you able to plug that into the audio input on your monitor for audio?

  • @camzorocks If you have intergrated sound yes but it wont be very good quality. I recommend using a audio input on your speaker

  • does your monitor have a hdmi port? or just vga and DVI only? please respond

  • @cblock356 im trying to set up a slim 360 using hdmi to my lcd monitor i have a 5.1 logitech x-540 5.1 system and i dont know how to get my sound inputs working with the speakers and the 360 could you suggest me anything? im confused and dont know what im doing

  • @MrMetallicaman98 It could be a shortage in your wires. make sure everything is plugged in tightly and correctly.

  • i don't have a tv, would it be cheaper to buy a monitor and the cables for the xbox or just buy a tv?

  • @TheMixedMind you can find a 20 inch flat screen TV here in NJ for about $170 I would suggest buying a TV. This Method is for people with a Monitor but no TV or an outdated TV that doent support HD features. Most Tv's you buy now can support both PC and Regular use. Get a TV.

  • hey dude where'd you get the monitor from ??

  • @gameslayer131 It came with and HP bundle I brought last year its 22 Inches.

  • oi dude you can get a full cable the has hdmi ond one end anf the monitor bit on the outher

  • DIDN'T WORK>>

    NO VIDEO

    Y?

  • @PKZY1 Bad HDMI Cable, Bad Converter Piece, Bad Monitor, Or you've just done it incorrectly. Does your monitor say no signal?

  • @cblock356

    I Have A " MAG" Monitor ,,,,

and when i connect the HDMI cable from my pc video card HDMI port to DVI monitor it worked fine.

but from xbox360 HDMI to DVI Monitor " i wait 3 min to view the 360dashboard and it show bad picture ,, this happen for once just.

    after that nothing worked.

    "sorry about bad English"

  • @PKZY1 Did you set your xbox display settings to 720p?

  • @cblock356

How To Do That , When I Connect The Monitor And Go To Display Sitting " In Xbox360 " There Is No HDMI setting .

There is resolution Sitting i change it to 1920x1080 .....

" The Same Thing There is picture and sound , but bad picture "

    What To Do ?

i will change the Monitor And see if it works ... and told you

  • @PKZY1 If your monitor doesnt support 1920x1080 then thats why your having bad picture

  • @cblock356

IT SUPPORT 1920X1080 AND IT'S FULL HD ..... STILL BAD PIC . !!!

I WILL TRY TO CHANGE THE CABLE AND SEE WHAT HAPPEN .... I WILL TELL YOU .

  • @cblock356

    yes,,,

  • Thanx i well try >

  • hey man i have dvi to hdmi and connected dvi to my lcd monitor, hdmi to xbox but when i switch the xbox on my monitor stays blank :( it has signal cuz it stays on but it just stays blank :( can you help me out? cheers

  • thx man helped a bunch

  • why dont you just use optical cables there better for sound and is way easier then all that other useless stuff...

  • @TheHeartogram If you have a receiver that supports optical sound, that would work. But regular PC speakers often just have the 3,5 mm or RCA inputs.

  • I'd get the cables at monoprice instead of the retail stores. You can get a generic Xbox 360 -> VGA with audio jacks for 7.10 and a 3.5mm Stereo Plug to 2 RCA Jack Splitter Adaptor for 42 cents. I'm sure BestBuy and Radioshack try to push those overpriced ripoff Monster cables.

  • @XeonProductions Thanks for the info.

  • 3.5mm to clarify to people on the y adapter. not hating on the video though actually was super helpfull.couldent figure out how to get sound to speakers only can get sound through my tritton ax-720 speakers but gonna go pick me up a y adapter on payday so i can get sound to my pc speakers thanks for the help

  • if the monitor already has speakers, do you need any of the other stuff, or just hook up the HDMI and go? I plan on buying 8 22" viewsonic monitors (because they have built in speakers and a HDMI input) for my gaming organization at Northern Illinois University. Knowing if i dont need all the other cables will save me some money.

  • @4PhaseDelta meant to add that the ViewSonic has a HDMI input plus the built in speakers... so i just wana make sure i dont need anything extra.

  • @4PhaseDelta just hook up the hdmi cable and you're good to go. the sound will come from the speakers.

  • nice video really helps me

  • Who ever disliked my video is just a hater. My shit is well explained one of the best tutorials if not THEEE best on youtube.

  • Yo what is the aspect ratio for your monitor?...Cause i got an HP LCD too, but it's a 17" and it's got a 16:10 ratio, and i saw a couple people online say that they got little black bars at the top and bottom of their screenc with a 16:10.

  • Where do you buy that Y-Adapter? Radioshack only has 1/8 or 1/4 inches and I don't want those.

  • do you need the y adapter if ur using the hdmi well i guess not

  • I also did this to my PS3... it works well...:) very suitable for those who doesn't have a big LCD/LED TV which are kinda expensive lately... it'll be better if your monitor supports full HD, really...

  • Thanks bro !!

  • Is there any change of harming the Xbox when I'll do this?

  • Is there any risk of harming the xbox when I'll do this?

  • thanks a lot man, this is the only video I could find that explains how to do this with an HDMI cable, and the whole sound thing is genious! Thanks!!

  • Thanks man. I hate the world, why cant they make a universal audio and video input/output.

  • thanks so much

  • Very well explained. Made it completely clear to me.

    Thank you. :)

  • @rehdercaglar So you got yours working? Your xbox actually does HDMI to DVI and uses component cables for sound via the adapters and such used in this video without the xbox 360 slim doing continuous reboots?

  • @Darkjeste

Yes. Exactly.. My xbox is the new 250gb slim matt black.

    Works like a charm.

  • Comment removed

  • This must of been patched lately. This no longer seems to work. Have all the cables and everything is hooked up right,I can hear the xbox sound on my speakers for a few seconds but then the xbox just reboots in a loop over and over with no video being displayed. As soon as the Component cable is unplugged i get video on the monitor and the xbox no longer reboots continuously. Anyone know if the RCA audio cable adapter on Amazon with the Red/White and Digital out cable works with HDMI for video?

  • @Darkjeste

There is still hope btw :D

ww genmay com/ showthread (dot) php?t=803048

  • Can I use a Headphone splitter or do i have to use the Y-adapter that has red and white?

  • Will using a HDMI cable instead of the VGI cable that you can buy from xbox have better video quality?

  • hey help me out here, i bought and hdmi to vga chord, hoping to connect hdmi to my xbox 360 slim, and vga to my hp monitor, when i plug it in and try to switch input it says no vga input.. this is the second i have tried. any ideas? i mean besides this dvi adapter

  • what kind of y adaptor did you need?

  • @sheahan0 3.5 mm

  • thanks alot it helped

  • @mrnevadies123 Awesoem man, Im glad to be able to help out

  • For me my xbox reboot again and again and again...when i plug both cables

  • @Luda666 your power supply may be bad :(

  • @cblock356 Problm solves ! In fact my rca/optical adaptators is a generic. I've just unmount it and weld 2 pins ;)

  • @cblock356 Mine too, there must be some sort of setting that you need you apply in order to allow the xbox to let you use both cables at the same time

  • You saved me a hell of a lot of money, great how to video! Helped me a lot!

  • @MrBacco17 Glad I could help you man :)

  • is it also beeter with dvi or is it better with vga ?

  • @ABl4ckZzz yes hd is way way better

  • would it still play in hd ?

  • Love UH ASS! thanks bro

  • @mecamoon anytime bro

  • hey gre8 vid man im gonna try this

  • my comp screen has an hdmi slot can i just hook the hdmi cable right there? or do i still need the adapter?

  • @anthonyyawns You can just do HDMI from xbox to Monitor but you will need a separate audio output

  • nice vid dude..but u can acually get a cable xbox to vga..but the sound works the same way lol

  • Thanks so MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

  • @TheZuluGamer thanks man lol

  • So the HDMI to DVi Adapter goes into the white plugin in the back??

  • @MLGPerkaSet Yep.

  • @MLGPerkaSet Yep.

  • thank you so much!!!!!!! I don't have a vga slot I get the old computer from 2002 and Ihave a dvi port thnx again 1 person has no fkin life!

  • @55mac24 lol np :)

  • My Samsung Monitor has a HDMI port on the back. I know i can go HDMI- HMDI but how do i get sound?

  • @N1ji06 Do you have an audio output?

  • @cblock356 yes

  • @N1ji06 Then just follow my audio setup.

  • Man this is awesome video! Thx

  • @1nsan3tranc3 Np man glad to help

  • Thanks allot, really appreciated..

  • This vid was funny and helpful thx

  • so u dont need ur pc at all? just the monitor which is plugged into the power?

  • @banfuckingkai Correct!

  • @cblock356 thanks, and one more question, if my monitor supports hdmi i will just need to pug in a hdmi to hdmi cable to the monitor rite and nothing else. and also my monitor has an audio jack, so can i just plug in my speakers in the monitor or will i have to do the steps u described for the audio? thank you very much for the reply

  • If your monitor has Hdmi compatibility without using these steps then I would think you should have sound from that alone. If not then yes you still need to follow the steps for sound because the audio connection you have for your monitor cant fit onto an xbox system.

  • Just buy and HD VGA AV Cable for 30 euros or 40 dollars and plug it in.. ull get 1080hd if ur pc supports it

  • @lukeledoux How am I wrong? The whole point of this video is so that you don have to use your TV at ALL

    Video is Titled as such.

  • dude ur monitor already has an audio port!!!!

  • @mmesaros6 yes but there is no way to hook that up to the xbox its the reason why you need the 3.5 mm attachment because you can plug in both audio wires from the xbox vga cable into and receive sound into it

  • nice video! thanks, you helped my a lot!

  • crack the cord it works thank you so much :)

  • how can i keep my sound, i dont want to crack open that cord.

  • @USOHBEN no other way =/ unfortunatly

  • you may want to check this out

TRENDnet 2-Port USB KVM Switch Kit

it allows you to switch back and forth from your Xbox 360 to PC.

  • Thank u! :)

  • lol 3.5mm

  • how do i take the case off the cable... i have cut my self 3 times trying already any ideas?

  • @chris07081 get a pair of grip pliers and crack it open

  • what if your lcd has built in speakers?

  • @brianwashere you still need to use this setup it wont work because you wont get great sound

  • What if you have an older monitor? And that HDMI to DVI adapter does not fit.

  • @Flerpyy then you get a hdmi to vga converter lol

  • @Flerpyy Xbox 360 HD VGA cable

  • i think i love you lmaoo awsome video

  • @AlgenisGx419 lol np

  • @3:26 when you crack that thing open.. is it that easy just to open it? or is it because you've done it already once before?

    thanks :)

  • @shizzlers0135 its easy to do but yes I already cracked mine in the video. Just use a pair of grip pliers and it will pry it open enough for you to just crack it open

  • @cblock356 alright, thanks a lot :)

  • Has this been patched in an update or what? Because I did the same shit you did and it isn't working. I have to use either or, they don't work together, all the time. When it does work, the DVD drive doesn't work. Maybe it's just a 4gb system thing.

  • 4:34 XD

    thanks for the video

  • Im glade my monitor has an hdmi in.

  • can u put back the av port together

  • @KObExLaK3rZ yes but not while in use for this setup

  • does hdmi to dvi-d cable will be able to display 1080p on 1080p monitor?

  • @FPSGT For the Hdmi? No. Any Hdmi cable will work.

  • @FPSGT Yes

  • works perfectly! i was just about to buy a new cable, thanx a lot

  • great vid, thanks

  • @colla072 Yw ^

  • this doesnt work for me, i am doing the exact same thing on my 360 slim and nothing, my monitor says that nothing has been inputed and the xbox doesnt boot to the dashboard. but if i tried them individually they work on their own. HDMI with the AC cable for audio doesnt want to work for me! wth?!

  • @kennyyy921 You have to follow the steps for audion on my video. Your not going to get direct sound from the HDMI cable since your using DVI to HDMI setup. AS for your monitor saying nothing has been plugged in. You may want to check the source on which your using. If you pc is on then you have to switch to DVI setup and it should be a option for that with your monitor.

  • @cblock356 it's the same situation as kennyyy921 has.

Individually they work on their own, and when together, my monitor switches off the DVI channel (i'm using HDMI-DVI)

My Xbox is slim 4g.. i have no idead what to do :S

  • @ThruhSeekers Some Monitors you have to switch it over to DVI manually. If VGA is also inputed then it will read VGA first and always because VGA is the default.

  • @cblock356 Ofc i manually switch it to the DVI, but right when i switch to DVI, it has no signal and automatically sets back to default (VGA)

If i use only HDMI-DVI, i chose DVI and everything works good, if both cables - have no video signal, but hear the sound... :(

  • @ThruhSeekers Try going to display settings on your pc and set DVI to secondary

  • @cblock356 thank you, i'll try to fix it with my Acer !

  • You can buy a hdmi-dvi lead without adapter for a couple of quid on ebay Only problem I had was the lead wouldnt both fit in I was going to file the xbox lead down, but cracking it open - you saved me alot of time cheers bud.

  • You can buy a hdmi-dvi lead without adapter for a cuple of quid on ebay

  • ye agreed amasing tutorial. i know this sounds stupid but i thought i would hvae to buy turtle beaches or summin so u saved me alot of money thanks dude

  • @IWASBORN2DIE np man glad to help

  • @everprod what do you mean? your monitor doesnt have DVI? there is also a VGA to HDMI hookup

  • yo i cant get my AV cable to crack open howd yu do it so easily

  • @hashriz use a swiss army knife or a razor blade but be careful.

  • @cblock356 butter knife ftw. thanks alot for the vid itsworking great.

  • Very good tutorial well explained, thank you

  • @Hindusht Anytime Thank you :)
