@xY05H1x1 Trance is melodic and usually has build-ups and releases. With techno, there is usually no melody only a beat (in most cases it is repetitive).

I think it helps for noobs to visualize a robotic band playing with many layers (ie guitar, vocal, bass, drum) representative of trance, whereas for techno you should visualize a drummer repetitively hitting a beat.
