Setup a Minecraft Beta Server on OS X

If you try to connect and it comes back "user not premium" it's either because:

The person who is trying to connect has not paid for Minecraft and is not a valid user.

Or you can turn off online-mode=false in the server.properties file to keep it from checking.

@tigerpounce24 All I did was create a new .bash_profile and use figlet, it's nothing special. It does not need to look like mine to start the server.

when i finished negui enter a whole new window appeared what do i do?  it says minecraft server?

i can still play minecraft but if i log off of my file on my mac i have to close terminal. and then lets say i log on and open terminal, all my stuff is gone. its like the start of the video before u typed "cd (space)" so what do i do to open the server up again? like in terminal i dont wana make a new server every time i log in

@12armande The client or the server? I'm assuming the client (or the game itself).

You should be able to fix some issues by erasing the bin folder.

Go to your Home folder (it should be your username). Then Library -> Application Support -> minecraft.

Take the bin folder and delete it. Then try running Minecraft, it should download all the necessary packages to run Minecraft.

i did this, but my spawn point was in the nether. Can I change that.

@TheHNish Hmm, I've never tried it with Nether on before. You might want to try erasing the "world" directory and regenerating a new world and see if that corrects the issue.

@caseywtw Ok the nether spawning is ok now,I made the hellworld false.the problem is that my friends cant join. Do i just give them the ip i put in the server properties ( my own ip) or is it more complicated?

hey when i close terminal it totally deletes my server. i saved it and stopped it but then when i open close terminal and open it again it is gone. why is this?

hey i made the server and it works. btw thanks so much. but if i type save-all in the terminal then stop, and i close terminal and open it again. how do i play on the same server? cuz once i close terminal the server is totally gone. is there a file i click to start it up in terminal again?

@xfilmerx Try waiting a few more seconds after you type "stop" then closing the terminal. It's possible you're closing it prematurely as it's saving right before you exit. Try asking this at the Minecraft forums if this doesn't help.

When i drag the dowload into the terminal it says that no directory is found. help me!

@tylerburke95 Are you creating a folder for the minecraft server jar? Create a folder to encompass the minecraft_server.jar, then type "cd " and drag the folder onto the Terminal window and press enter. You should now be within in the folder.

whenever i drag server.properties into text edit it says the file can't be opened because it has not been saved. i saved it but it still didn't work any help?

@smooglify Have you shut down the server beforehand? This might cause conflicts with both the server and TextEdit trying to use the same file.

java.net.socketexception: invalid argument, i tried both with ips 127.0.0.1 and my own :l what do i do
