You people, Currently I am disassembling TVs so I can use their rear casings as bicycle baskets. Therefore I did an impact test to ensure it would make a durable bike basket. Unlike the pollution and toxicity that tube TVs cause, recycling the rear panel as a bike basket can actually help save the environment of which I find clever ways to market whats left of antiquated technology.

@mrsupervidrater I'll explain: Normal TV still has a resolution that is optimized for a CRT screen - best possible quality. Flatscreens have a MUCH higher resolution, but the TV signal by now doesn't come in this quality. So a low-res image is shown at a high-res screen and you see a bad quality (while on a CRT screen the resolution fits the signal perfectly). Conclusion: when ALL TV is broadcast in HD, you get a good quality. But until then you'll always have a bad picture on a flatscreen!

BUT when there is a standard signal, that comes with a smaller resolution, you have to fill the other pixels with "something", which leads to a rather bad picture quality!
