Thanks. I'd always avoided watching this version as neither of the 'stars' interested me at this stage of their careers. Decided to give it a try after enjoying Criterion's new Blu-ray of "Island of Lost Souls" & listening to Richard Stanley's comments made me want to see if this is the complete disaster everyone claims. The price is right too. Hope it is good. And here I go...

The novel is a parable of the creation of Man by God, and what should happen when the pressures of nature no longer exert a stern restraint, and must be replaced by morality. The beast-men rebel against the moral authority (Moreau), and revert back to unthinking nature, having killed 'God'.

funny how close this movie is to reality.
